The Prime Ministers' Corridor of Oaks is located at Faulconbridge, New South Wales, 75 km from Sydney and 20 minutes from Katoomba. It is near the Great Western Highway and Main Western railway line. This time I went with Claire and her friends to Springwood that is in Blue Mountains National Park. This hike is a little bit more intense since the path is quite less Australian style hehehe but if you like hiking it should be alright.

Faulconbridge to Springwood via Sassafras Gully

Enjoyable walk 6+km walk in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. Make it a whole day by getting the train to Faulconbridge and back home from Springwood - after having coffee in Springwood.

Stop at Clarinda Falls or the campsite for a break.

In Australia, we were one of the first to start bottling water.
Their stories that are incredible.

I think it starts when you come down the valley, through the rainforest.

And you could construct and decorate a gingerbread house, which is pretty groovy.

So you can walk into the gallery and you can see artists, through to Norman Lindsay, through to contemporary local art, which makes us quite a unique gallery and lucky [SP].

So it's the weekend, and it's time to shake off the city vibes with a bit of a trip out of Sydney up to the Blue Mountains.

Malena: We found quite early on that the brewery was famous for its beer that it produced back in the 1900s, and in 1950 it actually won an award for its stout.

Adrian: For us it all started in '81, when my parents bought this old brewery. In '91, we were approached because someone knew the story of the water better than we do. We knew there was water here. We didn't know how good it was.

Malena: It was said that the stout was so good because of the purity of the water. So we decided that we would bottle the water that the brewery used to produced its award-winning stout.

Adrian: And so end of '91, we started bottling Lithgow Valley Springs, fantastic spring water products, and bottling for other companies as well. From there, as the water business grew and became more like work, we were looking...

Malena: When we started Lithgow Valley Springs, we...it was a bit risky, because in Australia we were one of the first to start bottling water.

Sydney Flightseeing

This was a special flightseeing trip with my wifes' uncle in his small 2 - seater Zephyr kit plane back in April 2005. We took off from The Oaks (a little past Camden), and took a route across Camden and Narellan to Parramatta, across to Palm Beach & The Central Coast, and then turned and made our way down the coast to Stanwell Park and Bulli on the NSW South Coast. We then turned at Bulli and climed over the ridge before heading back to The Oaks. A spectacularly clear day, and some amazing Sydney coastal scenery.

Unfortunately, this and my Taree trip with uncle Ken are the last times I had this opportunity to have this kind of experience, as sadly Ken passed away in a tragic car accident on the 3rd of December 2008. His enthusiasm for life and adventurous attitude will be sadly missed.
