The Blue Mountains National Park is a protected national park that is located in the Blue Mountains region of New South Wales, in Eastern Australia. The 267,954-hectare national park is situated approximately 80 kilometres west of Sydney, and the park boundary is quite irregular as it is broken up by roads, urban areas and inholdings. Despite the name mountains, the area is an uplifted plateau, dissected by a number of larger rivers. The highest point in the park is Mount Werong at 1,215 metres above sea level; while the low point is on the Nepean River at 20 metres above sea level as it leaves the park. The Lapstone Zig Zag was a zig zag railway built near Lapstone on the Main Western line of New South Wales in Australia between 1863 and 1865, to overcome an otherwise insurmountable climb up the eastern side of the Blue Mountains. The ruling grade was already very steep at 1 in 33 . Another of the early plans had been to build the whole line across the Blue Mountains on a completely different route through the Grose Valley with a 3-kilometre-long tunnel, but this was beyond the resources of the colony of New South Wales at the time. The track included the Knapsack Viaduct and a now abandoned station called Lucasville which was built for the Minister for Mines, John Lucas who had a holiday home nearby, the station opened in 1877.

The Australian Reptile Park is located at Somersby on the Central Coast, New South Wales in Australia. It is about 50 kilometres North of Sydney, and is just off the Sydney-Newcastle Freeway. The park is home to a variety of reptiles, including snakes, lizards and crocodiles, as well as other Australian animals, such as koalas, kangaroos, cassowaries and Tasmanian devils. The park is heavily involved in snake and spider venom collection for use in the production of Antivenom and is credited for saving the lives of thousands. Hey guys this is Davy from Openhouse Films and today we're going to explore the Blue Mountains, so it's a good idea to pack some food and water before you decide to get a train taking about two hours, or a car which is about an hour's drive from Sydney.
Both options will work but a car will give you more flexibility to see more places.

There are so many activities to do in the Blue Mountains, you're going to have to figure out which activities are best suited for you, but some of them are; the three sisters.. no not those three sisters, there you go. It's an unusual rock formation that attracts millions of people each year.

While you're here, be sure to check out Scenic World where you can have a range of family fun experiences surrounded by the beauty that is Katoomba.

If you're into the outdoors, there are some companies that offer abseiling at half-day or full-day tours. Check out the shops along here in Katoomba to try and get the best deals.

If two wheels are more your thing, there's always mountain biking here in Glenbrook, there's plenty of tracks and bike hire options available.

Bushwalking is also an option, have a look online and see if there's any tracks best suited for you. You might even come across a reward or two!
