Wirraway A20-62 Forced-Landing (The Main Story) - 29 min.
Kununurra Historical Society Inc. Archive and Kununurra Museum
Wirraway-Challenge - A Story of Survival & Rescue in the far north East Kimberley Region coastline, within 6km of the Northern Territory border with Western Australia at the Meridian of 129 degrees east longitude. The story begins just weeks after Darwin was bombed and North Australia was under daily attacks by the Japanese. Another Wirraway from 12 squadron, had hit a tree on
take-off at the old Drysdale River Mission runway (Pago Pago - near Kalumburu), some days before. On March 20th 1942, Flight Sergeants, (pilot) Lew Dwyer and Warwick Carmody were instructed to fly to Drysdale and retrieve the Vickers .303 Gas Operated (GO) machine guns (GO guns), and any retrievable, useful parts, so had a toolbox for the salvage mission. This was the same day that Broome and Derby were bombed by the Japanese.

The Indigenous Remote Archival Fellowship - preview
Shaun Angeles, from the Strehlow Research Centre (Alice Springs, NT), and Sherika Nulgit, from the Mowanjum Aboriginal Art and Culture Centre (Derby, WA), talk about their experiences as one of the recipients of the inaugural Indigenous Remote Archival Fellowship in 2015.
The Indigenous Remote Archival Fellowship is a partnership of the Indigenous Remote Communications Association (IRCA), the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) and the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS).
The Fellowship is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations developing strategies and structures to archive and preserve cultural heritage materials, particularly in audiovisual formats. Representatives of the successful organisation will travel to Canberra to spend three days at the NFSA and AIATSIS, and take part in a workshop organised in Alice Springs and/or their home community.

Visiting Truscott Airbase(part 1 of 3)
In May 2004, I had the opportunity to visit Truscott Airbase - remote and little known, it was built in 1943 as a heavy bomber base, abandoned in 1946 with all relics intact. Some salvage during the 70's and 80's, then later re-established as a private airstrip.
Several aircraft crashed at or near the base 1943-45, and the wreckage is still visible.

Rolls-Royce Merlin
The Rolls-Royce Merlin is a British liquid-cooled, V-12, piston aero engine, of 27-litre (1,650 cu in) capacity. Rolls-Royce Limited designed and built the engine which was initially known as the PV-12: the PV-12 became known as the Merlin following the company convention of naming its piston aero engines after birds of prey.
The PV-12 first ran in 1933 and, after several modifications, the first production variants were built in 1936. The first operational aircraft to enter service using the Merlin were the Fairey Battle, Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire. More Merlins were made for the four-engined Avro Lancaster heavy bomber than for any other aircraft; however, the engine is most closely associated with the Spitfire, starting with the Spitfire's maiden flight in 1936. A series of rapidly applied developments, brought about by wartime needs, markedly improved the engine's performance and durability.

Wet and Wild: Frogs of the Kimberley
Presented by Dr Paul Doughty, Curator of Herpetology, Western Australian Museum.
Part of the WA Museum’s 2014 In the Wild West Lecture Series
The Kimberley region of Western Australia receives summer rains during its 'wet season'. Given the many environments of the region, from savannah plains to rugged sandstone outcrops, this has resulted in a great diversity of frog species, resulting in the most frog-rich area of the state. The main types of frogs in the area are the conspicuous tree frogs, several species of rockhole frogs, burrowing frogs, sedge frogs and an especially rich group of ground-dwelling species.
Join Dr Paul Doughty as he presents a 'who's who' of these species, and highlights recent discoveries with more species to be described.
Rangelands Natural Resource Management is the Presenting Partner of the 2014 In the Wild West series.
The CNH Industrial Autonomous Tractor Concept (Full Version)
We live in a changing world and farming is changing with it. Our growing population and a greater environmental awareness means farmers need to produce more food more sustainably from the same amount of land. It’s ultimately technology that will make the difference – and CNH Industrial is at the forefront of this change.
We set out to take technology in a different direction that would allow farmers to integrate new technology into existing fleets and give them access to real time data wherever they are. We believe this technology will, in the future, change the face of farming for the benefit of all.
This concept autonomous tractor, has been conceived by CNH Industrial’s innovation team, is truly independent and driverless.
Filmed entirely on location on a working farm in Kentucky, USA in June 2016. All live footage is original and without CGI enhancements.
