Craft beer brewing booming in Southern Oregon
MEDFORD, Ore -- Breweries and taphouses are popping up across southern Oregon. The Oregon Brewers Guild has the numbers to prove it. The non-profit organization says a few years ago, Oregon had 100 breweries. Now, there are 166.We're adding ten to 20 breweries a year, said Brian Butenschoen who is the executive director of the guild. The organization was started in 1992 to protect and promote Oregon's breweries. According to the guild, the Portland-Metro area has 66 breweries and taphouses. In and around Eugene there are about 10. Central Oregon has 18 and in southern Oregon, there are 15 breweries and taphouses, with six more in planning. Butenschoen says, I think it's almost like brewing sleeper cells. We had a pretty lively homebrew community in this area... and now, we're seeing a lot of people stepping out on their own to create their own beer. It's been almost a beer renaissance in the last two years, said Chris Dennett, owner of Beerworks in downtown Medford. The brewers guild wants Oregon cities to start paying attention to the untapped link between craft beer and tourism.Butenschoen says in 2009, the city of Bend started its Ale Trail, a tour for beer fans. Research shows 40% of the people traveling to Bend go there to visit a brewery, or do the Ale Trail. Two years ago, that number was 26%.Oregon was the first state in the country to hold a beer week and the first to have an entire month. July is Oregon Craft Beer Month.

Herstory - Lost Coast Brewery & Café:
The Lost Coast Brewery and Café began with a common dream. In 1986 Barbara Groom, a pharmacist, and Wendy Pound, a family counselor, wondered what it would require to start their own brewpub. After years of experimental home brewing, planning and studying, which included visiting scores of pubs in England & Wales, Barbara and Wendy were ready to transform their dream into a reality.
With the 1989 purchase of the Pythian Castle, a 100-year-old building in Eureka, California, the café was ready to open. The building, a restored wood frame structure constructed in 1892, was purchased from the original owners, The Fraternal Order of the Knights of Pythias. After spending the winter and spring engaged in extensive remodeling, the Lost Coast Brewery and Café became a living dream in July of 1990.
The cool maritime climate of the Humboldt Bay region has proved to be very conducive to brewing quality ales. The year round average temperature of 55º Fahrenheit is ideal for top-fermenting ale yeast. While embracing the rich tradition of English-style ales, Master Brewer Barbara Groom has added a distinctive West Coast flavor to her ales by brewing with Western Plains barley and wheat and the exceptionally clean water of Humboldt County.
Since its humble beginning in 1990, the brewery has outgrown the original facilities in the Pythian Castle and moved production to a larger site down the street. After a record breaking year in 2005, producing over 24,000 barrels, Lost Coast Brewery had expectations of breaking the 30,000-barrel mark. In 2009, it broke that record producing over 50,000 barrels making Lost Coast Brewery the 33rd largest brewery in the United States. Lost Coast Brewery distributes its fine ales in 22 states, in Puerto Rico, and in three Canadian Provinces! Lost Coast Brewery has plans to move to a new location where it can barrel to greater heights!

Mitsubishi Electric Heating & Cooling is a manufacturer of cooling and heating systems. The company also sells electrical and electronic products and systems used in a broad range of fields and applications. HVAC (stands for Heating, Vventilation and Air Cconditioning) equipment needs a control system to regulate the operation of a heating and/or air conditioning system. Usually a sensing device is used to compare the actual state (e.g. temperature) with a target state. Then the control system draws a conclusion what action has to be taken (e.g. start the blower). Home Comfort was founded in 1992 by Wally Elling and his sons. It is currently owned and operated by his son Jeff Elling since 2000. As the HVAC side of the company grew, it saw a need to expand into full service Electrical, Plumbing, Refrigeration and Thermal Insulation. We are the only Company in Lane County providing “full mechanical service and installation” for your business or home residence. As we like to say- We are a “one stop shop”.
