While in Sunny Hawkes Bay do yourself a Favor and take a day trip to Waimarama beach, Ocean Beach, Clifton / Cape Kidnappers and Maraetotara Falls. Napier / Hastings / Havelock North Hawkes Bay New Zealand.
What a pleasant day we had with the fam on the beach even though it is winter right now everyone was still making good use of the sun by going to the beach. Some people were still swimming and a few surfers also enjoying the waves. Long walks down the seemingly endless white beaches and children playing all sorts of beach sports.

Ocean Beach is a long beach of golden sand in the Hastings District of the Hawke's Bay Region, on the east coast of New Zealand. It lies between Cape Kidnappers to the north, and Waimarama beach to the south. Ocean Beach has a small population, mainly of Māori ethnicity. Local Māori know it also as Waipuka. YES! we moved to Hasting, Hawke's Bay.
from the beginning, we stay in Auckland for 2 weeks, then moved to Te Puke for another 2 weeks. due to we arrived te puke too early, the kiwi season not started yet. so we decided to moved to Hawke's Bay to find apple jobs.
Till we reached hakwe's bay, we had walked in nearly all the apple packhouse we could find. while waiting for the answer from the packhouse, we had been to some place near haske's bay like waimarama beach, ocean beach, shine falls, maraetotara falls and the best real fruit ice cream in hasting - The Strawberry Patch
the falls water is crystal clear and is freaking cold, my leg was freezing and numb while walking in the water.
if you like hot sun, you should go to waimarama beach or ocean beach, the sun is damn hot and there is no shade around the place, if you scare of sun, you might consider to bring a tent. for those who love surfing, this is the place you MUST go.
lastly, we had moved to a cottage which owned by a local kiwi, and the cottage have 2 single rooms and 2 double rooms, we are the only asian, and all are from chile.
they have a very big garden and heaps of animal. they like gardening and they ducks, cats, chickens, and pigeons.

-lets say you want to find some packhouse job
- simply go to google.com or google maps and type in packhouse in hawke's bay
- you will be surprise that there are lots of packhouse and even some you couldn't find in forum or group.

Like Gisborne, this region attracts Pacific swells from various directions, so as soon as you acquire local knowledge you will be able to find the perfect wave. Napier, New Zealand's art deco capital, is the main centre of activity in the bay.

Hardings Road 2 kms north of Napier next to the shipping port at Ahuriri, is a good place to start chasing waves. This right-hand point break needs a heavy swell to get it working. The Reef at the south end of Westshore Beach (3 kms north of Napier) surfs well in a 1.5 metre swell and access is easy.
Further up the coast are three little gems worth seeking out. Waipatiki has the most consistent beach break in heavy swells and Stingray Bay, out from Tangoio, has an exciting right-hand point break in easterly swells.
On the southern headland of Hawke's Bay is the famous Cape Kidnappers gannet colony and wave-seekers can really score some unforgettable rides on this part of the coast. For example Awatoto river mouth at the south end of Napier's colourful Marine Parade, has nice hollow waves, which break left and right off the bar on a rising tide. Haumoana (6 kms south of Awatoto) has a real sick right-hander that breaks over the shallow bar of the Tukituki River mouth, but watch the rip on outgoing tides. Te Awanga (16 kms east of Hastings) is the base for visits to the gannet colony and sits at the mouth of the Maraetotara River, where you can ride a good right-hand point and reef break in easterly swells.
Waimarama (32 kms south-east of Hastings) is a standout surf location with left and right-hand reef and beach breaks. This beach picks up some big southerly swells at times, throwing up heavy hollow waves that offer really sick tube rides. To the north is Ocean Beach, which has a multitude of hollow waves over its steep beach bars and changing sandbanks.
