Japan Travels (Tokyo) - Nanushinotaki in Oji
For my first video I decided to put up a wee bit of my adventures around Tokyo that my boyfirend and I have been going on.
We visited Nanushinotaki Park (名主の滝公園) in Oji (王子) for a daytrip.
Turns out its a big park with an epic waterfall in the middle of busy Tokyo.
2012 Oshogatsu - Kitsune Matsure arrival at Oji Inari Jinja (Shinto shrine)
In ancient times, people of Japan believed that the fox (kitsune) was the emissary between Gods and men and could cure diseases. When ill, Japanese people ask for Kitsune to heal their body.
At New Year's eve, in Tokyo, Kita ward, occurs the Kitsune's (Fox) parade, with people wearing Kitsune's masks or make-up, dressed as in ancient times and playing music by Oji streets until the Shinto Shrine devoted to Kitsune, for the Hatsumode (the year's first visit to a shrine or temple). Hatsumode festivities are held at practically every shrine and temple across Japan.
Antigamente, o povo japonês acreditava que a raposa (Kitsune) era intermediária entre Deuses e Homens, tendo a habilidade de curar doenças e atender pedidos de boa saúde. Quando doentes, japoneses oram para a Kitsune (raposa) restabelecer a saúde do corpo.
Na noite de Ano Novo, é realizado um festival em homenagem à Kitsune, com pessoas usando máscaras e maquiagem de raposas, vestindo trajes japoneses antigos e tocando músicas alegres. Caminham até o templo xintoísta para o Hatsumode, a primeira visita do Ano, para saudar o Ano Novo.

名主の滝公園 男滝と女滝 Nanushi-no-Taki park, Oji, Tokyo
東京都北区王子にある、名主の滝公園の3月のようす。公園の名の由来ともなっている滝です。園内には全部で4つの滝があるのですが、うち2つを撮影。前半の大きい滝が「男滝」（おだき）、後半の小さい滝が「女滝」（めだき）です。本来の滝は、川や湧き水によって絶え間なく水が流れるものですが、どうやらこの公園の滝は今ではポンプによる循環式っぽく見えます。（滝近くの地面からモーター音が聞こえていました。）
