The grounds of the villa encompass approximately 2 hectares and feature multiple buildings, including a Japanese-style home, tea houses, and shrines, amidst carefully maintained Japanese gardens.[1] They were built up over a period of 30 years by Ōkōchi to function as one of his residences. They were opened to the public after his death in 1962. The main structures were built in the 1930s and 1940s except for the Jibutsudō, which is a Meiji Era building that was moved to this site.

Places to Go: Ōkōchi Sansō
A beautiful destination often overlooked due to its location at the end of the winding bamboo forests of Arashiyama, the Ōkōchi Sansō Villa is the former residence of Japanese period film star Ōkōchi Denjirō (1898-1962). Located in the foothills of Mt. Ogura, Ōkōchi’s Villa includes a traditional home, tea house, and Buddhist halls on the property amidst carefully planned and cultivated Japanese-style gardens designed to showcase the best of each of the four seasons. Despite being constructed relatively recently, the villa employs classic architecture and traditional techniques, appearing far statelier than its age would imply. The villa is also well known for its view of Kyoto City spread out below it. Though the admission fee is steeper than most of its kind, the price includes a cup of green tea and a Japanese sweet served in the teahouse where you can relax and rest your feet while enjoying the view. Fans of the samurai film genre can also enjoy an open air museum dedicated to the villa’s original owner and jidaigeki actor Ōkōchi Denjirō.

Kyoto in a Day | Bamboo Forest & Okochi Sanso Gardens| Temples | Back streets
A visit to Japan wouldn't be complete without at least some time in KYOTO. It is a very busy, place with a lot of touristy spots to see, like the bamboo forest, and the city centre and many of it's temples. But there is also space for calm within the busy, and we found those too. For example, the Okochi Sanso Garden is right next to the bamboo forest, but so much quieter and has excellent views!
One of the cool little things we came across was a little tofu factory, where we watched the staff make different kind of tofu, and a massive but almost deserted temple called Sagashaka-do and some beautiful gardens. We even spotted a wild weasel weaving in and out of gravestones in a cemetery site!
There's a lot to do and see in Kyoto, so one day was definitely not enough, and will surely be a place to revisit if we return to Japan.

Blue and Green Gardens [4K] The Gardens of Kyoto Japan
Why did Japanese people recite green as blue?
And what are we staring at in the blue?
I thought that I could also know about that part, I made this video.
The reason for expressing green ones in blue is related to the fact that there were only four words expressing colors in ancient Japanese.
In the Nara period and the Heian period, Japan has only four adjectives representing colors, Whiteness, Redness, Blue, Black, expressing all colors with the four words I had to do.
For this reason, these four adjectives have a wider color range to express than the current white, red, blue, black, blue in the Nara period and the Heian period is the current green From words to purple and gray had become words.
And even though it is green, to be exactly speaking, words such as green apple, blue juice, blue clam, blue caterpillar, blue shiso, blue onion, vegetable, lush green lily What remains until now is the remnant when I was expressing green as blue.
Therefore, the reason for expressing the green ones is because the adjective blue in the Nara period and the Heian era was also a word expressing green, so that remnant still remains.
· In the Nara period and the Heian period, for example yellow was judged as red color and it was expressed in red. Since the meaning of Akira such as bright and obviously was included in the old red, words such as others of red (obviously others), red shy (obviously shame) Even now it exists.

MURIN-AN [4K] The Garden of Kyoto Japan
MURIN-AN in February.
Murin-an is a Japanese villa and garden built between 1894 to 1898 by Aritomo Yamagata.
Jihei Ogawa VII (7th) created this garden under Yamagata’s instructions. The garden’s central point is the Higashiyama Mountains with a spacious and bright open lawn area. This naturalistic scenic garden received high ratings ever since it’s creation. Also, the water in the light flowing stream is from the Lake Biwa Canal. This villa was a pioneer in creating the villa cluster of the Kyoto Okazaki & Nanzenji neighborhood.

Japan VLOG 02
Some footage from my recent trip to Japan. The Okochi Sanso gardens were such a nice surprise to discover while we were exploring Kyoto.
I used the ACES color management workflow in Davinci Resolve for the first time with this video so I'm still getting used to it. It will take more practice to dial in the look I want with it but I'm definitely sticking with it.
Thanks for watching!

Arashiyama, Kyoto, Japan - Sept. 2016
The hotel is Suiran, in Arashiyama, Kyoto. Visited Saihoji (a/k/a Kokedera the moss temple) and took the Randen electric train to Ryoanji, the Zen temple with the famous rock and gravel garden. Also walked through the Sagano Bamboo Grove and visited the Okochi Sanso Villa and gardens where I had tea. The remainder of the photos are of the tourist area around Arashiyama. The bridge is Togetsukyo the moon crossing bridge.
