Largest Japanese Fortification: Rota
This is the Largest Japanese WWII Fortification in the Marianas and is called Rota's Japanese Command Post. It is in the cliffs overlooking the Japanese airstrip and was to be used to defend the airfield from the expected invasion. This fortification is a series of tunnels, bunkers, and pillboxes connected by a walkway dug into the cliff. The walkway is protected by a short cement wall which would have also protected infantry men and snipers.

WWII Bombs Part 1
This is the part 1 video of my documenting the surviving WWII ordnance in the jungle of Naftan Peninsula in Saipan. In the last year-and-a-half of WWII this area was used to store massive amounts of bombs and ordnance of all types for the constant bombing of Japan. The American military was also stockpiling ammunition here for the expected invasion of the Japanese homeland. When the war ended the American military tried to dispose of the remaining ordnance but, with hundreds of thousands of bombs, many were left behind. Also see part 2.

Battle Of Mt. Naftan Part 1
This is the part 1 video of the battle of Mt. Naftan during WWII in Saipan. I will take you into the jungles of Naftan Peninsula to the battlefield of 65 years ago. During the night in June 1944, 500 heavily armed Japanese soldiers snuck through the front line and blew up a few parked American planes. The Japanese then withdrew to Mt. Nafutan, which should have been unoccupied. Unknown to the Japanese, a Marine field artillery unit decided to spend the night there. None of the Japanese survived the night. See more:
Last Command Post
To the North of Saipan, across from the road heading to Banzai Cliff, is a half cave, half bunker where the last Japanese commanding officer in Saipan led his battle. From here he ordered the last and biggest banzai charge in the battle of Saipan. See and learn more:

Saipan's Hidden Grotto
All tourists to Saipan knows about the grotto but they are thinking of the grotto on the north side of the island. There are other grottoes in Saipan. Today we found a grotto on the south side of Saipan in the Obyan area. During WWII the Japanese soldiers had some operation going on in this cave. We found 10 fuses from American 500 pound bombs that were dropped through the open ceiling that completely destroyed whatever was in this cave.
