Aerial Tour of Mackinaw City, Michigan
Mackinaw City is one of those few areas where you can get both the sunset as well as the sunrise over the water. The sun rises over Lake Huron and sets over Lake Michigan.
In this video we feature 2 historic lighthouses of Mackinaw City. The Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse in Colonial Michilimackinac was opened in 1892 and operated until 1957. The McGulpin Point Lighthouse first operated from 1869 to 1906, but has resumed operation again in 2009.
OLD MACKINAC POINT LIGHTHOUSE | MACKINAW CITY MI | RV LIFE - S1EP35
The Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse first lit the Straits of Mackinac on October 25, 1892. Guiding ships through the straights until the completion of the Mackinac Bridge eliminated the need for the light. The site consists of the historic lighthouse and shipwreck museum. Things to Do in Mackinaw City Michigan
Located at the tip of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, Mackinaw City is a great summer destination in the state of Michigan. With views of the Mackinac Bridge and Mackinac Island within the Straits of Mackinac, there are a lot of things to do in Mackinaw City for tourism such as Colonial Michilimackinac and the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse. Colonial Michilimackinac has the reconstructed Fort Michilimackinac, originally built by the French, later housed the British army until they moved fort operations to Fort Mackinac on Mackinac Island around 1780. Later, I head into downtown Mackinaw City which is home to many shops, restaurants, and fudge kitchens. For lunch, I stop at Scalawags Whitefish & Chips which is a great takeaway spot for some fresh, fried whitefish and chips.
