저녁시간. 언덕위의 시계탑 올드타운클럭에 사람들이 모여 든다. 사람들은 모두 고스트 워킹 투어를 하기 위해 모였다. 핼리팩스에 얽힌 전설과 역사를 해설을 통해 듣게 된다. 대폭발과 타이타닉호 침몰 같은 역사적 사건들이 있어서인지 이야기가 더 실감이 난다. 아이들은 마치 할로윈의 날을 맞은 듯하다. 이야기가 있는 산책은 도시의 구석구석을 누빈다. 오싹한 이야기를 듣다보니 시간이 더 빨리 흐른다. 항구는 밤이 더 화려하다. 버스커 축제는 밤 11시까지 계속된다. 환한 조명은 없으나 어둠속에서 바라보니 더 운치가 있다. 버스커의 멋진 재주에 모두들 박수를 아끼지 않는다. 잠 못 이루는 핼리팩스의 밤이다. 핼리팩스 항구에서 마주 보이는 곳은 다트머스. 크고 작은 배에서 새어나오는 불빛은 항구의 낭만을 더 짙게 만들어준다.

Halifax - Amazing Landmarks and Architecture | Halifax Travel Vlog
Halifax is the capital city of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, and there are a lot of amazing landmarks and architecture to discover in downtown. Many historic sights to check out include (but not limited to) the Halifax Citadel, the famous Old Town Clock, St. Paul's Anglican Church, Halifax City Hall, and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. When admiring the historic architecture of the city, don't forget to check out the more modern architecture including the Halifax Central Library. While sightseeing in Halifax, visiting the Halifax Public Gardens and the Halifax Waterfront along the harbour is the perfect way to relax and unwind. To get that impressive view of the Halifax cityscape especially at sunset, make sure to take the ferry over to Dartmouth along the Dartmouth Harbourwalk.

Crewe Town Clock

The clock was built in 1957 as part of the redevelopment of the town centre and is known locally as 'Big Bill'.

Halifax City Hall Behind the Scenes
Take a look at the secrets and areas not open to the public. Find out who escaped from a jail cell in City Hall; and who roams still. Check out the stone restoration complete with carving done by hand. Learn why the clock tower is set to 9:05. The video was produced for the Doors Open Halifax event held in June, 2013.
How We Spent 24 Wonderful Hours in Halifax
Halifax is one of Canada's travel gems. The East Coast vibes hit us as soon as we got there and we loved the laid back charm of Halifax. We had our sights set on some great food and great beer and it didn't disappoint.
We landed at the Stubborn Goat Beer Garden. It offered a great view of the harbour to go along with some locally brewed beer from Garrison Brewing and some delicious halibut and chips. But the thing we needed most was the salty sea air and this place had it in spades.
We only had two days to spend in Halifax and we wanted to make the most of it. When we know we need to see a lot of a place in a short time, we look for some kind of bus tour to give us a feel for what's where.
Just down the waterfront boardwalk from the Stubborn Goat, we grabbed the last two seats on the Harbour Hopper, an amphibious sightseeing tour. The tour through the streets gave us a nice view of St. Paul's Cathedral, the old cemetery and the Citadel. The harbour half of the tour was a cool way to see Halifax from the water.
It was a quick one hour tour but gave us a general idea of where we could find everything on the walking tour we planned for the next day
When we asked friends from Halifax what to eat and drink, they all had the same three suggestions. Johnny K's Donairs, Cows Ice Cream and a pint of Alexander Keith's at the Lower Deck.
All three proved to be great ideas.
Halifax and the history of the donair in Canada are forever linked. Legend goes that the locals didn't like the traditional Gyro with tzatziki sauce but when they switched to a sweeter sauce the donair became an instant hit. Today, college students and other locals flock to Johnny K's on the popular Pizza Corner for a taste of the original donair style. It's a delicious combination of shaved spicy beef, tomato, lettuce, onions and sweet sauce on a pita. It was wonderful and definitely worth a return trip before we head home.
Haligonians loved beer so much that they elected Alexander Keith - the region's top beer maker - mayor. Twice. They still celebrate his birthday and you will see many pubs in town with a countdown clock to October 5th, when they raise a pint (or more) in his honour.
To get a true Keith's experience, we decided to forgo the brewery tour and went straight to the Lower Deck, a waterfront pub that is always jammed with beer and music lovers. We enjoyed some acoustic tunes and really enjoyed the Keith's. It was an East Coast tradition that we could easily get used to.
After a day touring Peggy's Cove and the coast area, we headed back for one more night in Halifax before we headed home.
We booked a last minute Distillery Harbour Cruise on the Tall Ship Silva but a passing shower threatened to keep us on shore. Fortunately it passed fairly quickly and we were able to find some shelter to stay dry. Once things cleared up, we were treated to an incredible sunset that we enjoyed along with some tasty cocktails from three Halifax distilleries. It was a perfectly romantic way to spend our last night in Halifax.
