Japan Trip 2013 Tokyo OMOTESANDO HILLS in Shibuya 671
Omotesandō, Tokyo
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Omotesandō (表参道) is an avenue, subway station and neighborhood in the Minato and Shibuya wards in Tokyo stretching from Harajuku station, specifically, the foot of Takeshita Street, to Aoyama-dori where Omotesandō station can be found. Zelkova trees line both sides of the avenue. Around 100,000 cars drive down the main street daily.[citation needed]
Omotesandō was originally created as the frontal (表 Omote) approach (参道 Sandō) to Meiji Shrine, when the Shrine was dedicated in the Taishō era.
Today, Omotesandō is known as one of the foremost 'architectural showcase' streets in the world, featuring a multitude of fashion flagship stores within a short distance of each other. These include the Louis Vuitton store (Jun Aoki, 2002) Prada building (Herzog & de Meuron, 2003), Tod's (Toyo Ito, 2004), Dior (SANAA, 2004), Omotesandō Hills (Tadao Ando, 2005) and Gyre (MVRDV, 2007), amongst others.
It is an upscale shopping area featuring several international brand outlets, ranging from Louis Vuitton and Gucci to Gap, The Body Shop, Zara, and others. Omotesandō is also home to the Japanese toy store Kiddyland, a shopping center geared primarily toward young women, Laforet, Oriental Bazaar, and Gold's Gym. It is sometimes referred to as Tokyo's Champs-Élysées. Its latest development, Omotesandō Hills, opened in 2006. Omotesandō's side streets feature a range of trendy cafes, bars, and restaurants, as well as boutique stores specialising in everything from handbags to postcards to vintage glass bottles.
Every year Omotesandō is the venue for Tokyo's Saint Patrick's Day Parade.

Exploring Tokyo, Japan [Shibuya, Harajuku, Omotesando] |Day 102 - Tokyo
Shibuya 109 is a trend setting fashion complex for young women and an icon of the Shibuya district with more than one hundred boutiques on ten floors. Usually pronounced Shibuya ichi maru kyu, the complex's name can also be read as Shibuya to kyu, identifying the complex as part of the Tokyu Group.
Harajuku, a colorful and crazy town that has been creating it’s own original culture by engulfing the world’s most trendiest fashions and cultures. It is like a monster that swallows everything in its path and keeps expanding. Kawaii Monster Cafe is a reflection of this monster visualizing Harajuku. Upon entering, you will walk through the tongue of Mr. Ten thousand chopsticks(Choppy) and then come across the cake shaped Merry-go-round SWEETS GO ROUND and also the 4 unique areas called MUSHROOM DISCO,MILK STAND,Bar Experiment, and Mel-Tea ROOM. Wherever you are seated, you can enjoy the surrounding art created by Sebastian Masuda and colorful menus. Also the iconic Harajuku girls called “MONSTER GIRLS” will welcome you at your table. “MONSTER GIRLS” will welcome you at your table.
Just south of Takeshita Dori and over twice its length is Omotesando, a broad, tree lined avenue sometimes referred to as Tokyo's Champs-Elysees. Here you can find famous brand name shops, cafes and restaurants for a more adult clientele. The stylish Omotesando Hills complex was opened in 2006 and targets fashion conscious urbanites in their 30s and 40s, while Kiddy Land has hundreds of unique toys for kids of all ages.

Harajuku to Omotesando | How long will we live in Japan?

????????????????Illumination????Walking around Omotesando (表参道), Tokyo【4K】Shibuya City, Japan
????????????????Illumination????Walking around Omotesando (表参道), Shibuya City (渋谷区), Tokyo (東京), Japan (日本). I was walking around Omotesando on December 21st from Harajuku station (原宿駅). As you can see in this video, illumination for Christmas is absolutely beautiful. Tans of people were walking on this beautiful street on the day. In my opinion, it’s the most beautiful illumination in the Tokyo area. You should watch it!
“Omotesando is the main vehicle and pedestrian thoroughfare for Harajuku and Aoyama. The area features many international brand boutiques, such as Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, and Gucci, as well as fast-fashion retailers such as Gap, H&M and Zara.” from Wikipedia.

Harajuku
Harajuku (原宿 meadow lodging) About this sound listen (help·info) is the common name for the area around Harajuku Station on the Yamanote Line in the Shibuya ward of Tokyo, Japan.
Every Sunday, young people dressed in a variety of styles including gothic lolita, visual kei, and decora, as well as cosplayers spend the day in Harajuku socializing. The fashion styles of these youths rarely conform to one particular style and are usually a mesh of many. Most young people gather on Jingu Bridge, which is a pedestrian bridge that connects Harajuku to the neighboring Meiji Shrine area.
