Flying Australia - Kununurra to Ord River Dam
This video was filmed on 17th June 2016 using a GoPro Hero 3+ attached to the right wing strut of Cessna 172 VH-ICH. The flight commences at Kununurra Airport in Western Australia, then follows the Ord River for 55kms to the Ord River Dam. Making a left turn after takeoff, our track takes us past the Ord River Diversion Dam and Lake Kununurra. The lake formed behind the dam in 1963 to become part of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme. Further upstream, the lake narrows and reverts to its original status as the Ord River, travelling through the Carlton Gorge and eventually reaching the wall of the Ord River Dam. Behind the 98 metre dam wall lies the 1000 sq.km expanse of Lake Argyle, Australia's most under-utilised lake.

BMP Haulage across the Diversion Dam (Kununurra)
Monday's sunset saw one of the largest loads to ever cross the Kununarra Diversion Dam.
Each load was approximately 7 metres wide and 6 metres tall, so it was a tight squeeze through the overhead gantry.
These giant Caterpillar 789 dump trucks and trays moved across the dam wall slowly one by one due to their huge weight. These monster Tonka trucks transported by BMP Haulage Australia come in close to 200t gross and were headed to the Northern Territory.
