ORNELLAIA
The Ornellaia wine-producing company was founded in 1980 in the area of Bolgheri. The oenologist Axel Heinz explains how the design of the winery followed the same principles applied to the production of Ornellaia wines, which, as products of excellence, comply with strict rules to ensure the utmost quality. The result is a facility that is harmoniously situated in the Tuscan countryside, almost camouflaged in nature. To complete the project, the materials were chosen in accordance with the principles of the brand, especially for the buildings requiring insulation in order to create controlled atmosphere environments. Ornellaia has found Isopan to be a technological and environmentally friendly product with an aesthetic appeal.
“We are also glad to have found a technical, technological solution that is rather pleasing to the eye.” Axel Heinz, enologo cantina Ornellaia

Why do Italys top winemakers love Bolgheri? Maybe because this beautiful region in western Tuscany is grape heaven. Learn about Bolgheri as you visit the vineyards of Ornellaia with Leonardo Raspini.
Tenuta dell’Ornellaia with Axel Heinz #033
Ornellaia is located on the Via Bolgherese in a triangle between the sea, the old town of Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci. To get there, take a ride on the famous cypress avenue, sung by the poet Carducci. The farm owns 91 hectares of vineyards, planted here are the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc u. Petit Verdot. Since its founding in 1981 until today, this beautiful and once untouched spot has become synonymous with top quality wines. Everything starts here in the vineyard – also the future. In this Tuscan coast, the estate produces such high-caliber wines as Masseto, Ornellaia and Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia.
Quality without compromise – the production philosophy of the Ornellaia. Soil and climate play a key role, along with the work of the man who cares for the vines, careful harvests and processing of the grapes right up to bottling and even beyond. Behind each of the top wines, there is a team of professionals in every area who, with their daily work, have interpreted the principles of the company that have been in force for more than twenty years.
Since 2005, the chief enologist of Ornellaia Axel Heinz has ensured that the big star in the Italian wine world sparkles brighter and brighter year after year (October 10. 2011).

TENUTA DELL’ORNELLAIA. LE SERRE NUOVE
Country: Italy
Wine region: Tuscany
Vintage: 2009
Classification: D.O.C. Bolgheri
Variety: Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet franc, Petit verdot
Deep and garnetred-hued colored. Créme de cassis, cherries and plums are matched with some almond biscuit and eucalyptus. Shows a bunch of macchia aromas. Marvellous prelude on the palate. Soft and balanced acidity with outstanding and supple tannins. The 2009 vintage is really on point and offers beside mulberries and cassis an extra portion of the the finest dark chocolate and Turkish mokka. This wine will certainly age well, but it´s also approachable now through 2025+. „Le Serre Nuove, boma ye!“. Blend of 54% Merlot, 31% Cabernet sauvignon, 10% Petit verdot and 5% Cabernet franc (August 2013) 93 PS

TENUTA DELL’ORNELLAIA. ORNELLAIA
Country: Italy
Wine region: Tuscany
Vintage: 2009
Classification: D.O.C. Bolgheri
Variety: Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet franc, Petit verdot
Although the vintage 2009 wasn´t easy to handle, due to the hot temperatures, this Ornellaia reveals almost an esoteric and deep complexity. Créme de cassis, plums, cherries, cardamom, pimento and eucalyptus are some of its features. Primarily with a very soft texture, then followed by explosive and marvellous Maserati tannins and an extremely refreshing and harmonious acidity. Juicy, velvet-like and unbelievable sexy. This Ornellaia will definitely be earlier ready to drink, but with no doubt age beautiful in the cellars, due to its great perfection and balance. Long finish and influenced totally by Tuscany and Bolgheri. Best from 2015 through 2040 (August 2013) 96 PS

Ornellaia Tenuta dell'Ornellaia 2008
Ornellaia Tenuta dell'Ornellaia 2008
