Steam train to Shepparton! Steamrail Goulburn Valley Explorer 2019 with R761
On the 21st September 2019 Steamrail held their Goulburn Valley Explorer tour to Shepparton, hauled by steam locomotive R761.
In this video we chase the train on its journey to and from Shepparton, starting with the transfer to Southern Cross at South Kensington and the trip to Seymour at Moonee Ponds and Broadford. At Seymour the locomotive was turned around at the turntable so it could head up to Shepparton tender first. We see this trip departing Seymour, Nagambie, Wahring, Murchison East and Mooroopna.
We then finish with the return trip to Melbourne, seeing the train at Arcadia, Nagambie, Broadford and Donnybrook. Overall it was a fairly successful chase despite some wintery weather at Seymour.

A Hard Working Hudson on the Goulburn Valley Explorer
On September 15th, 2018, heritage operator “Steamrail Victoria” held their annual “Goulburn Valley Explorer” tour to Shepparton with Ex-Victorian Railways “Hudson” Locomotive R761. The train departs Melbourne – Southern Cross in the morning and arrives in Seymour to R761 being turned at “Seymour Loco” depot for the journey “running tender first” due to no turntable being installed in Shepparton.
R761 lead the train out of Shepparton for the return to Melbourne at a high mainline speed at 115km, then making a stop into Seymour to take on more water, then continue to Melbourne. R761 made history by becoming the first steam locomotive to cross the grade separated Buckley Street as part of the level crossing removal project.

Australian Trains: SRV/VGR Echuca Overlander tour. 19th May 2018
On the 19th May 2018 the Echuca Overlander tour was again operated by Steamrail Victoria and the Victorian Goldfields Railway from Castlemaine to Echuca and return. Steamrail's K190 hauled privately-owned cars 'Tambo', 'Lowanna' and 'Macedon' (which regularly run on the VGR). The train is seen at Golden Square, Bendigo and White Hills on the 'down' trip, as well as Golden Square on the 'up' trip.
