DANGEROUS PAI CANYON & MEMORIAL BRIDGE | Thailand Travel Vlog 122, 2018 | Pai Digital Nomad
Pai Canyon is crazy - there's been more than one death there so it's a cautious hike! The Memorial Bridge was our next stop in Pai, Thailand ⬇ Click 'Show More' to expand ⬇
Pai Canyon is the sort of place you go for a hike, or just visit if you're in Thailand to travel - sadly it's been the cause of a few deaths. Definitely worth the visit if you're heading to Northern Thailand, but not a huge amount of stuff to do there unless you plan on a full hike - otherwise it's enough to just check it out briefly and explore more of Pai.
The Pai Memorial Bridge is another cool thing to do - its not far from the canyon and a nice drive to get there. The Bridge is walking only and situated right next to the newer bridge for cars - interesting history as well.
Thoroughly enjoyed Pai and north Thailand as a whole - highly recommend you visit! Thanks for watching this vlog video.

ROADTRIP TO PAI MEMORIAL BRIDGE | Pai, Thailand
Our adventure continues on as we hit the road going to the small town of PAI. The journey took 3 hours from Chiang Mai and along the way, we stopped by to try the best Khao Soi (Thai noodle soup) we've ever tasted, got on the wooden ferris wheel at Doi Kiew Lom Viewpoint, and dropped by to say hello to Kaptan Koboli at the the historical Pai Memorial Bridge.

Tha Pai HOT SPRINGS, Mo Paeng WATERFALL Slide & Pai Memorial Bridge by Motorbike | Thailand Travel
We had another brilliant day by motorbike from Pai, exploring the Tha Pai Hot Springs, Mo Paeng Waterfall and Tha Pai Memorial Bridge. These are all only about 15/20 minute motorbike ride out of the town centre and we rented a small motorbike scooter for only 100 baht per day. Pai is soon becoming one of our favourite places in Thailand and Asia overall.
When we arrived at Mo Paeng Waterfall we were ready to slide down the slippery rocks, but it really started to rain. Luckily once the rain stopped Rob got out and slid down the rocks which was fun, although ended up being a little painful. Mo Paeng Waterfall didn't disappoint, although with improved weather we would have both been in the pools.
To warm ourselves up we headed over to Tha Pai Hot Springs. On the way stopping at the famous Tha Pai Memorial bridge. It was a nice place to stop and get some photos, but we weren't really sure what the history was here until we got home. Essentially, Tha Pai Memorial Bridge was originally built by the Japanese during WWII and then detroyed by the japanese as they left. The local people built a new bridge in its place and it still stands today.
Finally after a long day on the scooter, we were at Tha Pai Hot Springs. Hot they were, the hottest area at Tha Pai Hot Springs reaches 80 degrees. You can swim in the cooler pools which are up to 37 degrees. It was a really nice way to soak outr muscles and relax for a little while. We heard that you can boil eggs in some of the pools at Tha Pai Hot Springs, but couldnt see where you would do this. If you go, let us know!

The World War II Memorial Bridge in Pai, Thailand สะพานท่าปาย
The World War II Memorial Bridge is located at the kilometer marker 88 on highway 1095. This bridge was made of iron and was built in 1942 by the Japanese to transport weapons and provisions to Myanmar (Burma) like River Kwai in Kanchanaburi province during the World War II .
At that time the Japanese troops chose Pai to be their military base since Pai was completely surrounded by mountains and rivers, and therefore served as a very advantageous spot. So a bridge made of rion over the river was constructed in order to transport weapons and provisions to Myanmar. Although this bridge was only nearly complete when the war was over, it has become one of many fascinating tourist attractions of Pai.

LOD CAVE Pai & SAI NGAM Hot Springs Pai (MAE HONG SON LOOP) | Thailand Travel
Today we hired a motorbike and drove around 2-hours to first reach Lod Cave. This cave was stunning, one of the most natural and wild caves we've seen for a very long time. We also got to raft through the cave waters which was a magical experience.
After a snack break, we drove back in the direction of Pai to reach Sai Ngam hot springs. These springs were beautiful, if a little mucky!
