Paiute Trail 2019 Marysvale, UT
2019 Paiute Trail Falls Colors Ride, sponsored by South Forty RV Park in Marysvale, UT, one of our favorite trips! Our 2019 RZR Turbo S eats up trails like these, and there are only 8% of the trail system limited to 50 vehicles, so you can ride for over 3,000 miles of connected roads and trails in SE Utah, with 900 miles scheduled to be added in 2020 according to the Paiute Trail Committee! We visited Miner's Park, Silver King Mine, Fremont Indian Museum State Park, Cottonwood Canyon, the Sevier Plateau, Sevier River Valley, the boyhood home of outlaw Butch Cassidy, Paiute Reservoir, Red Canyon, and Bryce Canyon National Park. There are lots of mines in the area, so rockhounds will enjoy this trip! The Paiute Trail runs through the Fishlake and Dixie National Forests in this area, plus through state and BLM lands. Other trail systems are accessible from the Paiute Trail: Arapeen, Gooseberry, Fremont, Paunsagaunt, and Markagaunt, plus local trail systems. Trails and roads are well-signed with kiosks at key locations on the trails and also in towns along the route. The National Geographic's Paiute Trail map is a great pre-trip purchase (you can also use the Avenza mapping app to download it to your phone). Jim and Terry of South Forty RV Park always provide a wonderful poker run and self-guided trail ride for the Fall Colors Ride, with an incredible raffle and poker run prizes, and great catered meals! Paiute Trail access is directly from the RV park, and RV spots are large enough to park your truck, toy hauler, and side-by-side and then some! Plus, Jim and Terry will help you plan your trail rides - this is a can't miss vacation for gorgeous rides with unbeatable scenery and fantastic side trips. Zion National Park, Capitol Reef National Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, and Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument are close enough for day trips, as well.

Riding the Paiute ATV Trail in Utah's Tushar Mountains
We go riding the Paiute ATV Trail in the Tushar Mountains of Central Utah with Utah State Parks. Along the way, we explore old mining claims and ghost towns. Plus, we trap and band pelicans on Gunnison Island on the Great Salt Lake.
Paiute Trail System, Marysvale, Aug 21-27 2016
We spent a week in Marysvale, Utah, staying at Connie and Greg's Pine Creek Cabins riding with friends in our RZR's. This was our first visit to the area and we really enjoyed our stay there. Such diversity in the environment between different elevations and terrains. Hope to visit again in the near future.
Arapeen OHV Trail System, Utah
Arapeen OHV Trail System, Utah
Highlights off highway vehicle trails on the Manti Mountain of central Utah. The Arapeen Trail System, located 2 hours south of Salt Lake City, Utah on Highway 89, is a great family trail with plenty of advanced sections for experienced riders. It’s a great place to ride if you want to avoid the crowded canyons closer to the city. The Arapeen Trail can be accessed from one of seven canyons in the Sanpete Valley. The Arapeen Trail has over 550 miles of trail which are open to ATV's, Side by Sides, and Motorcycles. The trail system ascends from 6,000 feet in altitude to over 10,000 above sea level. For additional trail information and maps, visit:

The Mountains West of Marysvale Utah | Paiute Trail
A little ride in the mountains west of Marysvale Utah on the Paiute Trail system.
Gooseberry & Paiute OHV Trails Salina, UT
This was a short scouting trip of the Gooseberry, Arapeen, & Paiute Trail systems in SE Utah, centered on Salina, just off of I-70. Coming from Hanksville, we drove through Capitol Reef National Park and then headed north on 2-lane highways to Salina, where we stayed at Butch Cassidy RV Park, where you can ride to the trails directly from your park site! The Paiute Trail has special routes through towns for non-street-legal vehicles, but street legal rigs can use any road except for the interstate highways. The Gooseberry & Arapeen trail systems are east of town and quickly get you from desert to above the tree line with some amazing views! Side trips to the Fremont Indian State Park, Big Rock Candy Mountain, and the Tushar Mountains in Marysvale highlighted this trip for us - all of these side trips are accessible on the Paiute Trail!
Max Reid Trail, paiute trails located between marysvale and Fremont utah
This was around may on 2016 the winter it was so heavy and cold i couldn't sumit I figured best time to go is around July, believe this they're are not kidding about having some of the best trails in the United States
ATV Down a Mountain Trail in the Paiute, Utah
Barney Lake, Utah (Paiute) July 2016
Coming up from Marysvale, we made an attempt to reach Barney Lake. Unfortunately, deep snow drifts at the top required that I winch for over 2 hours to reach the summit, before heading down to the lake. At the 5:00 mark, note the aid I provide to Trish on her 2WD Honda Rancher.
Paiute Trail Fall Colors Ride 2017
We visited Marysvale, UT, on a side trip in 2016 when we were riding the Gooseberry & Arapeen Trails near Salina, UT. We couldn't wait to go back, so signed up for the 2017 Fall Colors Ride hosted by South Forty RV Park in Marysvale! We spent time up in the Tushars, but continued snow forced the Fall Colors Ride to move over to the Sevier Plateau, which is considerably lower in elevation - we still hit plenty of snow up on top, though, so dress warmly for this ride! Cottonwood Creek Canyon, Red Rock Narrows, Bullion Canyon, Silver King Mine, the Sevier River valley, Big Rock Candy Mountain, Fremont Indian State Park, and more await you on your OHV rides in the Marysvale area! And, all of the trails start right from the South Forty RV Park - the owners, Jim & Terri, will help you map out the best trails, and the RV park is wonderful with extra large spots for you, your RV, and your OHV! This is high altitude riding - the RV park sits at around 6,000', so allow some time to acclimate and also be prepared for colder weather than expected. The Paiute Trail offers both road and trail riding - trails are width-limited in some areas, so buy a map or visit local chambers of commerce or RV parks for more local information about trails available.

Fall Colors Ride Paiute Trail 2019
The Paiute Trail is fantastic year-round, but we especially enjoy it in the fall. Weather is typically sunny, with cool temperatures at night and at the upper elevations of the Sevier Plateau and Tushar Mountains (we ride out of Marysvale, typically). We stay at the South Forty RV park on the north side of Marysvale with direct trail access and tons of parking for your toys at your RV spot! Any OHV rig can tackle the Paiute Trail, although there are gated trails for 50 and under and some trails are specified for 60 and under due to trail width considerations. Local attractions are many: visiting mines, riding the trails, rockhounding, visiting Butch Cassidy's boyhood home in Circleville, enjoying Fremont Indian State Park, visiting Panguitch and Highway 12 to the Dixie National Forest and Red Canyon, and visiting Bryce Canyon National Park east of Red Canyon. Just north of Marysvale is Richfield, home of the Rocky Mountain ATV/UTV Jamboree in mid-September. We enjoyed South Forty RV Park's Fall Color Poker Ride, always held after the Rocky Mountain event. Paiute Trail routes range from wide gravel roads to rocky trails, so you can plan your trip to fit your riding desires - and, since you can connect with local parks, campgrounds, and all of the local towns on the Paiute Trail even if you're not street legal you can stay out on the trail for days (you'll need a non-resident permit in 2020). The Paiute Trail has grown considerably in the number of miles of connecting roads/trails in the last few years, allowing travel clear south to the Grand Canyon if desired, and in 2020 they're hoping to add about 900 more miles in the Parker Range allowing access to the San Rafael Swell. The Tushar Mts around Marysvale allow you to drive above the treeline to the ancient volcanic caldera of the Marysvale Shield Volcano, with Mt. Belknap and Mt. Edna being popular sites to visit in the Fishlake National Forest. The Sevier Plateau east of the Tushars, across the Sevier Valley (with the Sevier River in the middle) makes another great place to ride! If you get bored here, head to the Pahvant Range near Richfield, the Dixie National Forest near Panguitch, or even northwest to Salina to ride the Gooseberry and Arapeen Trail systems!
