Pavagada is a taluk in the Tumkur district in Karnataka, India.[2] Historically it was part of the Mysore kingdom. Though it is geographically connected to Chitradurga district inside state of Karnataka, it comes under Tumkur district. It is 157.8 km from state capital of Bangalore and Uttara Pinakini river flows in this Taluk.
The town is famous for its fort located on the hill, Kote Anjaneya temple at the foothills and also the temple of Sri Shani Mahatma.
Pavagada Solar Park, which will be Asia's largest Solar park, is coming up on a 10,000 acre land with the capacity to generate 2000 megawatt solar electricity. It's promoted by GV Balaram . Telugu is widely spoken language followed by kannada. Peanut was the main crop which used to be grown in various parts of the taluk.due to constant drought, people left their agrarian works and migrated to Bangalore for livelihood
Pavagada is well-connected to other places in India. It has KSRTC & APSRTC buses which connect to other places of Karnataka and neighboring Andhra Pradesh. There is a railway station being built in Pavagada under the project of Rayadurga-Tumkur Railway Line. This railway will connect Pavgada to Bangalore to Bellary via Tumkur and Rayadurga.

Shani Mahatma Temple in Pavagada Karnataka
శనీశ్వరుడు ... ఈ స్వామిని పూజిస్తే దేవతలందరినీ పూజించినంత పుణ్యం లభిస్తుంది అంటారు. మన భారతదేశంలో శనీశ్వరుడు ఆలయాలు బహు అరుదు. అలాంటి అరుదుల్లో ఒకటి కర్ణాటక రాష్ట్రంలోని పావగడ లో ఉన్నది. ఇక్కడున్న శనీశ్వరుడు దేవాలయం ప్రసిద్ధి చెందినది. తుముకూరు జిల్లాలో ఉన్న ఈ దివ్య క్షేత్రంలో శనీశ్వర స్వామి, శీతల అమ్మవారు కొలువై ఉన్నారు.
చరిత్ర : హొయసులు, మొఘలులు, మైసూర్ రాజులు .. ఇలా ఎందరో ఈ ఊరిని పాలించారు. 400 సంవత్సరాల క్రితం ఈ ఊరికి ఒక పెద్ద కరువు సంభవించింది. ఆ కరువు గట్టెక్కేందుకై సమీపాన అరణ్యంలో ఉన్న సిద్ధులు, మునుల వద్దకు వెళ్లి తమ గోడు చెప్పుకున్నారు ప్రజలు. అప్పుడు వారు ఒక నల్లరాతిని తీసుకొని, శీతలాదేవి మహాబీజాక్షర యంత్రాన్ని రాశారు. అందులో అమ్మవారిని ఆవాహనం చేసి భూమి పై ప్రతిష్టించారు.
భూమిని కాపాడే ఆ తల్లి చల్లని చూపుల ఫలితంగా ఆ ఊర్లో వర్షాలు బాగా పడ్డాయి, తద్వారా ప్రజలు బాగుపడ్డారు. అప్పటి నుండి ఇప్పటి వరకు చుట్టుపక్కల ఏ ఊరిలో కరువు వచ్చినా అమ్మవారి యంత్రాన్ని పూజించడం మొదలుపెట్టారు. వర్షాల కోసం వరుణ యాగాలను,యజ్ఞాలను జరిపిస్తుంటారు. కొన్ని ఏళ్ల క్రితం అమ్మవారి విగ్రహం పక్కన శనీశ్వరుడు విగ్రహాన్ని ప్రతిష్టించాలని కొంతమంది భక్తులు అనుకుంటారు. అదే పనిని ఆచరణలో పెట్టి సఫలీకృతులవుతారు. ఈ స్వామిని ప్రతిష్టించాక అమ్మవారి దేవాలయం కాస్త శనీశ్వర దేవాలయంగా ప్రసిద్ధి చెందినది.
బస :రోజూ వేలాది మంది దర్శించుకునే ఈ పావగడ క్షేత్రంలో సరిపడా కాటేజీలు, సత్రాలు, హోటళ్లు, లాడ్జీలు ఉన్నాయి. భోజనానికి ఎటువంటి ఇబ్బంది ఉండదు.
మొక్కులు: కోరికలు నెరవేరిన వారు మరళా శీతలా దేవి, శనీశ్వరుడు ఆలయాన్ని వచ్చి ఆనందిస్తారు లేదా మొక్కులు తీర్చుకుంటారు. పావగడ పక్కనే కోట మీద పెద్ద కోట ఉన్నది
ఎక్కడ ఉంది ?
బెంగళూరు నుండి 175 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో, అనంతపురం నుండి 114 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో, తుముకూరు నుండి 98 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో, కళ్యాణ దుర్గం కు 60 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో పావగడ కలదు. పావగడ కు సమీపాన 40 కి. మీ ల దూరంలో హిందూపూర్ రైల్వే స్టేషన్ కలదు. ఆంధ్రా సరిహద్దులో ఉన్నది కనుక తెలుగు భక్తులు కూడా అధికసంఖ్యలో వస్తుంటారు.
