Penguin Tours at KI Penguin Centre on Kangaroo Island - So Much More Than A Tourist Attraction!
KI Penguin Centre offers Kangaroo Island visitors the opportunity to see and learn about the Little Penguin colony which makes its home along the rocky foreshore of Kingscote. Visitors to the centre can take an evening Penguin Tour which includes fish feeding in the Saltwater aquariums, a laser guided talk about the constellations of the Night Sky (weather permitting), and of course a guided walk into the penguin colony to see and learn about the penguins close up. Little penguins are sometimes also referred to as Fairy Penguins or Blue Penguins.
These fascinating little creatures often come out of their burrows to see who is on the tour...make sure you bring warm clothing and sturdy shoes - it can be cold in the penguin colony at night, even on warm summer days.
During the day, visitors can see all kinds of other sea birds at the daily pelican feeding, where you will also meet one of Kangaroo Island's most recognisable characters - the Pelican Man!

Kangaroo Island - Penneshaw Beach
There are so many beaches on Kangaroo Island, I've only just scratched the surface. Swim beaches, fishing beaches, surf beaches. Penneshaw is another one great for the family. Located close to the local Penguin Centre it's a great opportunity to walk the beach before you take the guided penguin tour. When you arrive on Kangaroo Island via the Sealink Ferry you will find yourself in Penneshaw, a beautiful town full of friendly people. Go to where you will find some great holiday accommodation only a 30 minute drive from Penneshaw. An easy spot to travel to other Island destinations.

Sit back, relax and marvel in the majestic beauty of just some of Kangaroo Island's natural wonders. Kangaroo Island (or KI as known by the locals) is Australia's third largest island located 17km off the Fleurieu Peninsula south of Adelaide. Approximately one third of Kangaroo Island is declared as national park or for wilderness conservation.
The footage in this video was captured during a ten day visit in November 2013. Locations visited are included in titles throughout the video.

Phillip Island is an Australian island located about 140 km (87 mi) south-southeast from Melbourne, Victoria. Named after Arthur Phillip, the first Governor of New South Wales, Phillip Island forms a natural breakwater for the shallow waters of Western Port. It is 26 km (16 mi) long and 9 km (5.6 mi) wide, with an area of about 100 km2 (39 sq mi).[1] It has 97 km (60 mi) of coastline and is part of the Bass Coast Shire.
A 640 m (2,100 ft) concrete bridge (originally a wooden bridge) connects the mainland town San Remo with the island town Newhaven.[1] In the 2011 census the island's permanent population was 9,406,[2] compared to 7,071 in 2001.[3] During the summer, the population swells to 40,000. 60% of the island is farmland devoted to grazing of sheep and cattle. Churchill Island and the area around it served as the location for the 1977 Australian film Summerfield.
Phillip Island is a tourist destination visited by 3.5 million people annually.[1] The Penguin Parade at Phillip Island Nature Park, in which Little Penguins come ashore in groups, attracts visitors from all over the world. They come to see one of the few areas where this species of penguin can be seen.
The island is recognised as having some of the most consistently reliable and varied surf conditions in the country. The island has hosted various surf events in the past, such as the Rip Curl Pro in 2005 and the Roxy Pro Women's Surfing Festival.
On New Year's Eve the island hosts the Pyramid Rock Festival. Other events include the Churchill Island Working Horse and Pioneer Festival.
