Flinders Chase National Park is a protected area in the Australian state of South Australia located at the west end of Kangaroo Island about 177 kilometres west-south west of the state capital of Adelaide and 110 kilometres west of the municipal seat of Kingscote. It is a sanctuary for endangered species and home to a few geological phenomena. It was the second national park to be declared in South Australia.Flinders Chase National Park consists of three sections - an area of coastal landscapes around Cape du Couedic in the south west corner of the island, the Gosse Lands in the centre of the west end of the island and the former Cape Borda Lightstation reserve in the north west corner of the island.

It is described as being the largest of a number of coves located along the coast between Cape Dutton about 3 nautical miles to the west and Cape Cassini about 7 nautical miles to the east. The source of the bay's name is reported as taking its names from supposedly takes its name from the first mate of the Hartley which arrived in South Australia in October 1837 and is not to be confused with a Henry Stokes , a sealer who lived on Kangaroo Island prior to 1836 or a John Stokes who arrived on the island in 1817 and who is reported as residing at Stokes Bay.

Little Sahara is a dune system in the Australian state of South Australia located on Kangaroo Island in the gazetted locality of Vivonne Bay. It is a naturally occurring sand dune system roughly covering two square kilometres. The dunes vary in size with plenty of small dunes and the highest dune is approximately 70 metres above sea level. Little Sahara is one of twenty geological features on Kangaroo Island that have been listed as a geological monument by the Geological Society of Australia.Visitors may sand-board and toboggan on the dunes by renting the equipment from several local merchants located in the town centre of Vivonne Bay.

Kangaroo Island is an incredible place to visit in Australia. The island is Australia’s second largest (after Tasmania) and is located close to Adelaide in the state of South Australia. A short car ride followed by a scenic ferry trip brings you to this wildlife paradise. There are lots of things to do on the island from diving and sand boarding to tasting local wines. Where Kangaroo Island really comes to life is its great nature and wildlife. The coastline is amazingly beautiful and wildlife such as Kangaroos, Wallabies (and even very shy Koalas) can be found everywhere.
