DNAlien by Xlibris Author Jim West

Overview:
DNAlien is the story of a secret government program to develop life combining DNA taken from alien bodies with a normal human embryo. Taking place within an ultrasecret facility hidden on the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base located in Fort Worth, Texas, success ultimately occurs.
Years ahead of their civilian counterparts, the military and government scientific personnel finally hit upon the magical combination of alien DNA and human embryonic tissues that result in a being that hopefully will posses the traits desired from both sources.
Gene, standing for Genetic Embryonic Nucleus Enhancement, grows under the constant care and watchful eyes of a small group of individuals assigned to the Fort Worth base.
Knowledge of his existence is so closely guarded that only a handful of very high-ranking people, including the president of the United States, are aware of him or the program.
DNAlien follows Gene in a rural community north of Fort Worth after he escapes the facility and tries to evade the massive clandestine search for him during the worst terrorist attack on the United States, the days following the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.

Comics are not just for boys
Holly Ringsell wants you to know that comics aren't just for boys.
As one of the UK's few female comic store owners, from her shop Dark Side Comics in Chelmsford, Essex, she's opening up the culture to everyone.
I've had the odd comment here and there and people usually assume... that I am someone's wife or daughter.
It can be a male dominated industry, but we are fighting through.
U.K. London Paris Lyon Switzerland
Europe (Devonshire, London, Paris, lyon, Switzerland)
Day 1 - touched down and settled into Devonshire (friends place), went to Waggoner wells, had dinner at tgifs in guildford. It was very foggy so we couldn't see much of Waggoner wells in the fog.
Day 2 - visited Longdene House, went to an old English town, Stonehenge and went to Jurassic coast. It was a very long day. Interesting to be in a quiet town especially for us city people. It was raining hailstones at Jurassic coast so it wasn't that great to be out. Our Friend took a very scenic drive along the English countryside where we saw sheep and cows and endless rolling hills.
Day 3 - went to Waggoner wells to see the lakes. It's very beautiful in autumn and apparently, very magical in winter. The lake becomes frozen and gets transformed into a skating rink. We then head to London and stopped by Richmond park to see deers. Richmond park is a very serene place with many deeds. It's just that you can't get too close to the deers especially during the mating season as they may Attack if they feel threatened.
Day 4 -explored London. We went to Buckingham palace, borough market, British museum and finally, brick lane market and explored shoreditch area. Buckingham palace was kinda underwhelming for me. The food options at borough market are exciting and plenty. The British museum is impossible to cover in a day. The map has highlighted points of what you should see in an hour. It may be good to go for guided tours there. The bookshop has loads of rich biblical material and is good for bible tours. Many artefacts relating to blibical text. The shoreditch area is a hipster area filled with young people, graffiti and shopping. Ate at burger and lobster which was alright.
Day 5- took the Eurostar to Paris. We accidentally sat in first class and got chased back to our seats lol. We went to the luxemborg gardens and had lunch at l'Avant Comptoir. We then had gelato at Amorino and stumbled into st sulpice, second largest church in Paris. Luxemborg gardens was nice and peaceful. It's good to be careful in Paris. We didn't have very pleasant experiences at the restaurants with waiters forgetting pasta from our dish to forgetting our change. We stayed at Apart city hotel in Marne la velle because we wanted to go to Disneyland Paris. The hotel was kinda old.
Day 6- we spent the whole day in Paris Disneyland. The rides were alright not particularly fantastic. But I really enjoyed the parade at the end. We couldn't explore the whole park in a day. We took the SNcf train from Paris to lyon France. The Eurostar is clearly more luxurious than SNCF. Because of a delay on SNcf, we missed our second train and had to take an uber to hotel kyriad lyon. Upon arrival, we rushed to eat dinner at close to 11pm at brasserie George's, one of the oldest diners in Lyon. Maybe it's because we were very late, they also forgot our stuff and charged us additionally for desert. The food was good though. We ate braised beef in wine sauce which was really yummy and the wine taste was quite strong. Couldn't get used to foie gras in France. It's very different from the ones in Singapore.
Day 7- woke up later.went for lunch at tete doie, a restaurant on higher ground overlooking the whole of lyon. Food was exquisite and service was really impeccable. So was the price tag.eating there was really an experience. We ate the set lunch and foie gras. The set lunch comes with a starter of fish, main course of rabbit and dessert of sorbet and cake. The plating was very pretty. We then went to vieux lyon and walked around the renaissance streets which was quite lively. There were many art shops. Dinner was pasta and cheese from a nearby convenience store. I prefer lyon to Paris .. it's a prettier quieter town with lesser tourist traps and friendlier people.
Day 8 - took the Flix bus from lyon France to bern. It took about 5 hours to get to bern. The views were lovely as the bus drove through the countryside. We could see green pastures, little houses in the horizon and the random cattle grazing. We also passed by lakes and caught glimpses of the mountains. We checked into our Airbnb and were too lazy to explore the city. We ate dinner at the Chinese restaurant huai yuan.
Day 9 - we took the 2 hr train ride from bern to zermatt, then took the train to the gonergratt (high point to see the Matterhorn). Everything looks like it's part of a painting. The zermatt town is lovely and quaint, with streams, goats and serene forests. The trains are crazy expensive though. We spent almost 150 Swiss franc on trains today. Our hotel is in tasch, a stop away from zermatt. It is just beside the mountains which makes for lovely views too.
Day 10 - we took a train from tasch to lauterbrunnen. We bought the 9 o clock travel pass which didn't turn out to be a very good deal. We checked into hotel staubbach which is a 5-10 min walk from the station. I picked the room with a view of the waterfall. It was
Joe Solo & The Hatfield Brigade - Merry Christmas From Hatfield Main
We are proud to announce the OFFICIAL VIDEO to accompany the single 'Merry Christmas From Hatfield Main' by Joe Solo & The Hatfield Brigade. It was shot on location at Central Club in Stainforth on October 30th 2016 as miners and their families from up and down the UK gathered to join a choir like no other in the spirit of community and solidarity.
'Merry Christmas From Hatfield Main' is released on download via all major outlets on Monday November 28th and all funds raised will go to those struggling to make ends meet in Food Bank Britain.
The idea was the brainchild of Les Moore, former miner and main spokesperson for the 'UK Miners Pension Scheme Association, for Justice and Fair Play', who approached Joe to write a song which would help pay back a debt of honour mining communities felt they owed the thousands of people who clubbed together during the darkest days of the 1984-85 Strike to give them a Christmas they have never forgotten. Joe, one of the founding members of the We Shall Overcome movement, was only too happy to oblige, and this is the result.
Filmed by Michael Lee Toas of MLT Productions, this video captures some of the spirit of that day, and we hope you will enjoy it enough to share far and wide.
Inspired by the never-say-die enthusiasm of campaigner Peter Stefanovic, we are looking to mount a bid on behalf of mining communities everywhere for that elusive Christmas No.1 spot. For that we need you.
Let's show those who would have us believe otherwise that the spirit of community is alive and well and ready to pull together to help those among us less fortunate than ourselves.
Let's raise our voices and sing to celebrate a Christmas were no-one gets left behind.

Dodo Pad at the London Book Fair - but where is Lord Dodo?
Whilst filming for two new Book Channel TV shows at the London Book Fair, presenter, Tina Bettison had a chat with Rebecca Jay from The Dodo Pad - Lord Dodo was stuck in the Dodolomites (due to the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud) and anyway, he doesn't 'do' media interviews!
The Dodo Pad diary is Britain's best loved family organiser / planner - printed every year since 1966. Ideal for a family of up to five people (extra family members may, at your discretion, be marginalised). It's designed so that each person's activities can be seen on a week to view basis with plenty of room on the opposite page for notes and the occasional (or regular) doodle. Lord Dodo warns you however that this style of family organiser is highly addictive; a few long-term users are known to have tried to kick the habit, only to return (much relieved) to this most desirable organizer after just a few fleeting months away.

A Whitehaven Tail
A story in told in a West Cumbrian dialect by Keith Weir Greggain
This is a West Cumbrian tail about a local character called Button Sticks, told in Whitehaven dialect.
Button Sticks The name was said to have given by Whitehaven people to poor country folk who at the beginning of the Industrial revolution came to work in the West Cumberland Coal Field. One theory is that nick name was given because they used short twigs or sticks instead of buttons to hold their clothing together. Over a period of time the nick name button sticks became associated with a local character most probably fictitious but many and tails and stories were told of him this is one of them.

LitTV with John Durham
In this broadcast Sky Lowe sits down with Bolerium Books owner John Durham to discuss radical publications, censorship and a changing San Francisco.
..........................................................................................................................................................
LitTV is a series of video documents in collaboration with San Francisco Bay Area teens, exploring connections between fire and knowledge, showcasing some of the unique features and personalities that make up the San Francisco Public Library, and the vital role that librarians play in their communities. It is produced by the artist Minerva Cuevas for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art's Public Knowledge initiative.
Fire was the early form of shared public knowledge that triggered civilization. Throughout human history, fire has been crucially connected to social upheaval and physical change. Today, public libraries not only store and share a valuable resource: information, but they nurture community in rapidly changing cities.
..........................................................................................................................................................
John R. Durham began his book career as manager of The Socialist Bookstore in San Francisco. It was there that he gained the knowledge and experience with the subject areas of labor, radicalism, women’s studies, and economics, which continue to inform his current and expanding work. John founded Bolerium Books in 1981 and joined the ABAA in 1985. Bolerium Books operates out of in San Francisco, CA and specializes in American Social Movements, African American Studies, American Labor and Radical History, Anarchism, Asian American Studies, Chicano Literature, Gay and Lesbian Literature, Spanish Civil War, and Trotskyism.
