Maisons Wat Kor - Sustainable Cambodian Travel
Just outside of downtown Battambang, Cambodia, is a small (10 rooms) resort that provides the opportunity to slow down and enjoy your surroundings. It's close enough to town to visit all the local attractions, but far enough away that you can fall asleep by the pool to sounds of Buddhist chanting at the nearby Wat Kor.

Battambang is the capital city of Battambang province in north western Cambodia.
Founded in the 11th century by the Khmer Empire, Battambang is well known for being the leading rice-producing province of the country. For nearly 100 years, it was a major commercial hub and provincial capital of Siamese province of Inner Cambodia (1795-1907), though it was always populated by Khmer with a mix of ethnic Vietnamese, Lao, Thai and Chinese. Still today Battambang is the main hub of the Northwest connecting the entire region with Phnom Penh and Thailand, and as such it’s a vital link to Cambodia.
The city is situated by the Sangkae River, a tranquil, small body of water that winds its way through Battambang Province providing its nice picturesque setting. As with much of Cambodia, the French Colonial architecture is an attractive bonus of the city. It is home to some of the best preserved French colonial architecture in the country.

Trip to Samlout District in Battambang Province | Cambodia Travel and Tourism 2017
It's a long way to go but it was so much fun for our members in the car who always present & travel on the weekend and holiday. Samlout is a district in Battambang province border to Thailand and used to be a hot war zone over 10 years ago, now it's a peaceful and happiness place. It's really a great experience and adventure trip as we don't really know the location we're going well. We have to ask people along the road for directions and ask friends for friends in the region so they can help us out. We're lucky that we had a friend that know the Principle of Samlout high school, he lead us to few places like Durian plantations, O'Kranhoung natural resort, O'Rotkross (Tank stream), the border of Cambodia-Thailand. It was dark so we didn't go to the border. We got back to dinner at Mr. Principle's family. They prepared a really great dinner for us and did not charge any riel. We thank you very much Principle of Samlout High School for your hospitality. We stayed at Tourist Guest House, the only guest house at Samlout. That place is called O'Torterm village, Tasanh commune, Samlout district, Battambang province.

Cambodia Buildings with the French Styles in Battambang Province
shows the buildings in French styles.
Battambang province. These buildings were built during the French colonization era. The historical sites, houses and structures were built with the French style architecture. There are some buildings that are over 100 years old. Some people of Battambang would like to build new buildings and structures like the French styles. Some of the Battambang people want the province in Cambodia to be more like the French styles. Battambang province has the most French type buildings in the entire Cambodia country.
Battambang - Cambodia (Flight of the Bats)
Battambang - Cambodia (Nory & Sam Puoy mountain)
Bamboo Train or Nory is an improvised rail vehicle from Cambodia that runs from just outside of the city to a village that has a brick factory. The trains run at speeds of up to 50 km/h. Simple construction and light weight mean that the norry may be simply removed from the track -- if two meet on the line, the one with the lighter load is unloaded, lifted and carried round the other, and at the end of the line the vehicle is lifted and turned.
Battambang Bat Caves is one of this little nature wonders which cost you almost nothing (a tuk-tuk or motorcycle ride) but can take your breath away, there are litterally millions of bats coming out of these hole and it is really impressive.
right before the sunset these bats fly out of their caves for the evening, flying across the field. The line seemed to go on forever.

Sek Sork Resort at Battambang Province in Cambodia
We travel 290 Kilometer from Phnom Penh city to Battambang on National Road 5. It's a family and friend trip to Battambang Province but we never forget to visit a beautiful resort in this province called Sek Sork Resort as it's beatuful and a natural resort located at the western part of this province, at Phlov Meas commune, Ratanak Mondul district, Battambang Province. The distance is about 55 kilometer from Battambang Town. Previously they called it Sek Sor Kor (white neck parrot) but now they added K so it becomes Sek Sork until today.

Battambang, Cambodia
Video with images of Angkor monuments in Battambang province in northwestern Cambodia at the border with Thailand. The region has some of the most fertile areas in the country and is considered to be the rice bowl of the nation. It is close to the former capital of the Angkor empire
Wat Ek Phnom north of Battambang City is a rather dilapidated temple from the eleventh century dating from the reign of Suryavarman I (1002-1049). The temple consists of prasats or stone halls on a platform surrounded by the remains of a laterite wall. Some of these prasats contain well preserved carvings. A lintel showing the Churning of the Ocean of Milk can be seen above the east entrance to the central temple whose upper flanks hold some fine bas-reliefs.
Wat Banan south of Battambang City was built in the eleventh century by Udayadityavarman II (1049-1065). The temple is located on a hill and its five towers dominate the surrounding countryside. It is like a smaller version of the rather more illustrious Angkor Wat. It is very popular at weekends with Khmer families out on picnics.
