Thai food markets are one of the best places to buy fresh and authentic Thai food, or to buy groceries and fruit while you travel in Thailand. There are loads of Thai food markets and night market all around Thailand, and heaps around Phuket. At the markets you'll find so many Thai dishes on offer and the foods here are cheap, and so tasty! And in case you’re worried, eating Thai street food is perfectly safe. It’s what the locals eat and it is cooked fresh and sold quickly. I’ve been eating it for 3 years in Thailand and my friends who have been to visit and tour Thailand have all eaten it, and none of us have had any problems. Thai street food is some of the best Thai food you’ll find in Thailand!

And the markets are a great place to try traditional Thai street foods, learn Thai recipes and cooking, as well as eat some of the best Thai dishes in Thailand. You'll see the people cooking the food right in front of you. And best of all, the food is cheap, often much cheaper than eating in a Thai restaurant. Eating at a Thai market is a good way to eat cheap on your Thailand holidays.

Phuket City Tour || Phuket Half Day City Tour || Phuket Sightseeing || wayfarer bd
Phuket City on Phuket Island is the capital of Thailand’s Phuket Province. The Thai Hua Museum has exhibits on Phuket’s culture and history. Phuket city a lot to see and do and spend money in this old town full of heritage buildings. Phuket Town features an exciting mix of old and new, simple and sophisticated, peaceful and pulsating. The activity in Phuket Town is nearly around the clock. In the early morning, stoic monks take to the streets on their daily alms rounds and the fresh market buzzes with restaurant owners buying ingredients for the day's meals. Non-stop bustle characterises the daytime, and lasts well into the evening. Nights are reserved for enjoying good company, whether at a restaurant, a disco, a quiet bar, or a combination of all three.

Old Phuket Town, is an area of historical interest in Phuket City. The main streets of Old Phuket Town are Thalang, Phang Nga, Krabi, Dibuk, and Yoawarat. Old Phuket Town is noted for Sino-Portuguese buildings on both sides of the street. Many old buildings have been converted into shops, hotels, restaurants, and museums.
Phuket has a rich history as tin-mining country peopled by Siamese, Chinese, Malays, Indians, Eurasians, and sea gypsies. A unique community in Phuket are the Baba, with their own way of life, language, dress, and food. The core of this community was formed by early unions between Hokkien tin-miners and Siamese women. This distinctive Baba heritage can be seen in Old Phuket Town.[1]
Since the 16th century, Europeans have been involved in the tin trade of Phuket. In the 18th century, much of the island's tin mining was carried out by Hokkien Chinese who were instrumental in building the old part of the city. In the early-20th century, under Governor Phraya Rassada Nupradit, major European mining companies were invited in, and major public infrastructure such as roads and canals was built. No one knows exactly when the first building in this style was constructed, but photographs from the reign of King Rama V (1853–1910) show that it was already well established by then. Two styles of building in particular stand out: the shop-house (Sino-Portuguese style) and the big mansion (Sino-Colonial style).

Lard Yai - Sunday Walking Street Market in Old Phuket Town , T H A I L A N D
Phuket Walking Street is the latest attraction featured in Phuket Old Town. Also-known-as Lardyai (talard yai), which means ‘big market’ in southern Thai dialect, this weekly market started in October 2013 and is hosted on the beautifully renovated Thalang Road, right in the middle of the historical Sino-Portuguese district of Phuket Town. Thalang is a 350m-long commercial and cosmopolitan street which hosts a mix of Baba (Chinese migrants settled in Phuket at the beginning of the 20th century during the tin mining era), Thai Muslim and Indian shops. Phuket Walking Street allows visitors to discover some typical southern Thai culinary specialties as well as local handicraft and gift stalls. This weekly event (every Sunday from 16:00 – 22:00)

Phuket is Thailand’s largest island and it’s known for its beaches, incredible views and it’s nightlife. Today I am going to be showing you Phuket’s top attractions.
There are over 25 Buddhist temples on the island and Wat Chalong is the most famous. It’s a three story temple and it’s well known because it houses a bone relic of the Buddha.
Here we are at Phuket’s big Buddha. This Buddha measures 45 meters in height and looks over southern Phuket. From most of southern Phuket you can see the Buddha and as you can see the complex has not been completed yet. What ever you buy at the complex goes towards funding the completion of the Buddha.
Thalang Road the most famous street in Phuket town. They recently applied for UNESCO World Heritage recognition. The street is made up of seno Portugues mansions and shop houses which have been rebuilt, re-painted and remodeled. On the ground level their cafes, restaurants and boutiques.
Patong Beach is the most touristic beach on the island. The beach has cafes, watersport activities and restaurants. It is a beautiful beach so you have to see it when in Phuket!
Another beautiful beach is Surin Beach, which is only a 15 minute drive north of Patong Beach. This is the perfect place to get a quite lunch, take a dip or go snorkeling.
Lastly we have Bang Tao Beach, this is a more family oriented beach, its less touristy and more relaxing. Phuket has many more beaches not just these three. The western coast is easier for swimming and the eastern coast tends to be more muddy.
We head out to Phang Nga Bay with Captain Mark’s Alternative tours. We signed on for a full day speed boat tour. First stop is Ko Lao Landing island to visit paradise beach. Next up we visit a 1000 year old bodhi tree.
We then head to Koh Panyi Village, a 1000 person muslim village. The families have been there for over two hundred years. Lastly we visit Panak Island to visit a dark cave, secret lagoons and a haunted pirates cave.
That was things to see and do in Phuket, Thailand! Comment below if you have been or want to go!
