Belize Day 4 : Laughing Bird Island
Randomly bumped into Rose (Pirate Point Adventure) on the main sidewalk walking through Placencia and she put together a great tour for us to visit Laughing Bird!
Belize
I visited Belize for two weeks July 2013 with my girlfriend Shanna, who's native of a village called Placencia. Wow! What a humbling experience; to inhale life, sit back and enjoy natures beauty, in another place and time, all while enjoying the company of beautiful people. Unfortunately, I didn't take as many videos footage as I did photographs. Most of what I recorded and what makes up this short film was underwater and taken with my GoPro2.
I was fortunate to have Shanna's welcoming, loving family open their home to me. Her brother, Shawn, owns a tour shop in Placencia called Pirate's Point Adventure Tours. He took us out on several different occasions that turned out to be one of the dopest tours of Belize anyone could imagine.
Shawn had access to private-owned land providing horseback riding, cave exploring and waterfalls . It was breathtaking! We ate at various local authentic Belizian restaurants serving its most popular chicken stew with rice and beans. He took us snorkeling all over Belize including Laughing Bird Caye, a boat ride 11 miles off the coast of Placencia Village. He went spear diving, (no gear but one spear) caught some local snapper and lobsters then barbecued them for us on his uncles private isle. We also visited Xunantunich, an ancient Mayan ruin. There was so much to do and see. He was the perfect guide. I would have never experienced Belize the way I did without him.
I'll be putting together a photo album that will provide more images of my trip to Belize so stay posted!

Belize Submarine Tour, Newest Excursion Coming To Belize During 30th Anniversary Of Independence
BELIZE CITY, BELIZE: Belize Submarine Tour is the first tourist submarine excursion in Belize and its newest tourist attraction. Nautilus IV is preparing for a Grand Launch in Fall with a complete upgrade and remodel. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Belize's Independence and the 213th anniversary of the Battle of St George's Caye. In celebration of Belize's Independence, Belize Submarine Tours will begin this Fall.
The Nautilus IV is a State of the Art semi submersible submarine exclusively developed for use on the Belize Barrier Reef. Cruising at 6 feet below the ocean's surface, in the air-conditioned hull of this underwater observatory, large clear glass windows allow tourists to enjoy all the wonder and beauty of the Barrier Reef of Belize. State of the Art LED lighting has been added to illuminate the great diversity of sea life around the Barrier Reef during the Sunset Cruises.
We are extremely excited about bringing the latest and greatest tourist attraction to Belize. As we join in celebrating this momentous milestone, our tourist submarine will help augment the tourism industry in the country, and will draw more visitors to Belize for years to come, said David Perniz, COO, Treasure Island Management, Ltd.
The 45 minute tours will initially operate from two locations: from Tourist Village in Belize City on days when the cruise ships come to Belize, and from San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, on alternate days of the week. This exclusive underwater experience is offered by Belize Submarine Tour, which is a subsidiary of Treasure Cove Belize, the proposed mega-green resort on Drowned Caye Island.
Our completely redesigned interior includes natural Belizean hardwood and will greatly enhance the magnificent visual experience, said Mark Moskowitz, Senior Counsel for Treasure Island Management, Ltd.

Roatan Pirates Extreme Jungle Zip Line Canopy and Reef Snorkel by Boat Excursion
This Roatan Pirates Extreme Jungle Zip Line Canopy and Reef Snorkel by Boat Excursion is available for cruise ship passengers arriving at Port, Coxen Hole and Mahogany Bay.
This zip line cruise excursion in Roatan is best suited to people that are physical fit. We are the only Roatan zipline with auto braking, you will be slowed by gravity.
The Pirate's Extreme Zip Line cruise excursion reaches heights of 145ft and distance's as long as 627ft at its highest and longest point. The overall length of this entire zip line is about one mile. While enjoying this zip line you will encounter fun pirate bridges and ladders much like the ones the Paya Indians crossed as they tried to escape from Captain Henry Morgan's crew. No worries of being captured now a' days! Just take your time and enjoy the safety of our zips!
After the Roatan Zip Line Canopy part it is off to snorkel at one of Roatan's best coral reefs. Enjoy a short boat ride to the 2 Roatan reef snorkel spots and enjoy the underwater world of this beautiful island before it is time to get you back to your cruise ship's pier. All snorkel equipment and local snorkel guide is included.
Additional Roatan Zip Line Safety Information:
As safety for our customers is always our number one priority we have designed and constructed both our zip line to slow down by gravity as each line approaches the next platform. Our dual ziplines were designed for your safety by a French Engineer who specializes in the design and construction of zip lines. The Petzl brand harnesses and equipment that you will be using are the best and are relied on by climbers around the world.
Relax while enjoying the breathtaking views of both sides of the island with no anxiety or fear of having to break for yourself. First-timers will especially appreciate this safety feature as we are the only Ziplinning Company on the island and in most countries that is designed this way.
As you smoothly come to the end of each line you will be greeted by another friendly and professional guide who will assist you by safely unclipping and then clipping you unto the next line. Also, our harnesses have two SEPERATE straps that clip unto two SEPERATE cables for extra safety.
The operator inspects each zip line, all harnesses and every clip every day before and after business hours. A detailed inspection of all cables and connections are performed each week. We have weekly reviews of safety practices with all our shore excursion guides.
Your tour guide will demonstrate and include complete instructions as they assist you throughout each section of the Roatan ziplines.
Please wear comfortable clothing as you will be wearing harnesses as shown. Also, wear shoes that tie or have straps.
