The Phoenix Resort, Belize - Unravel Travel TV
The Phoenix is located on the historic site of The Paradise Resort Hotel, the second hotel built on Ambergris Caye and one of Belize's most popular vacation destinations for over forty years. Long before there was The Phoenix, in the early 1970s Jerry McDermott and his wife Linda visited San Pedro and fell in love with the sleepy fishing village and built The Paradise Resort Hotel. For many years, the Paradise's bar and dock were a favorite among locals, while its thatch cabanas were a rustic getaway for many of the first visitors to Ambergris Caye. They sold the hotel in 1991 and moved to the mainland of Belize. In 2004 Jerry and Linda bought the resort back and took down The Paradise Hotel in order to build The Phoenix, a larger and more luxurious resort at the same prime beachfront location in San Pedro. The Phoenix now provides a new generation of visitors to Ambergris Caye a memorable vacation just like The Paradise did for so many years.
The Phoenix is located beachfront in the town of San Pedro, at the north end of Front Street, just a few steps away from the best shopping, dining, and nightlife that Ambergris Caye has to offer.
`The resort is also a 2-3 minute drive from the airstrip, which is located at the south end of San Pedro. The Phoenix provides complimentary ground transportation to and from the airstrip for its guests and can arrange domestic air transfers from the mainland to the island of Ambergris Caye as well.
To reach Belize, guests typically fly United/Continental, American, Delta, U.S. Air, or Taca via Houston, Dallas, Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte, or San Salvador. All international arrivals occur at Philip S. Goldson International Airport (BZE) outside of Belize City, and from there The Phoenix can assist guests in booking their domestic transfers to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. The flight time is 15 minutes from the mainland and the cost of the flights can be added to your account for payment at checkout. Upon landing in San Pedro, The Phoenix provides complimentary ground transportation to and from the airstrip and the resort.
