Cathedral of Freedom / Hommage to Joze Plecnik
Cathedral of Freedom / Plečnik Parliament (Slovene: Plečnikov parlament) is the colloquial name of two designs for a building intended to house the legislature of the People's Republic of Slovenia within the second Yugoslavia. Formally known as the Slovene Acropolis and the Cathedral of Freedom (Slovenska akropola / Katedrala svobode), the two designs were proposed in 1947 by Slovenia's most eminent architect, Jože Plečnik, but were rejected in favour of a more conventional design.
A square, colonnaded false façade would have surrounded the cylindrical main building of two stories, surmounted by a tall, spirally tapering conical cupola. Supported internally by inclined columns, the cupola would have spanned the parliament chamber. The facade would have measured 50 m in length, the tower rising to 120 m. Several slightly varying designs were produced, some including a second colonnade wrapping the second floor of the main building, different porticoes, or an asymmetrical ground floor.

Plečnik in Brioni - dar Lojzeta Gostiše

Konservatorji, arhitekti, gradbeniki, restavratorji, kustosi in drugi strokovnjaki so bili vpleteni v celovito obnovo Plečnikove hiše, bisera slovenske kulturne dediščine 20. stoletja. Njihovo večletno delo in trud, vložen v dvoletno temeljito prenovo hiše, je zajet v dokumentarni film, posnet tekom trajanja vseh del.
WINDOWS SHOULD BE WHITE, WHITE, CLEAN, a documentary film on the renovation of the Plečnik House, 2013–2015
Conservators, architects, construction workers, restoration specialists, curators and other experts were all involved in the complete renovation of the Plečnik House, a jewel of Slovenian cultural heritage of the 20th century. The two-year-long careful renovation and the efforts poured in it have been compressed into a documentary film, which was filmed throughout all of the renovation stages. The film titled “Windows should be white, white, clean” – Plečnik’s last words, according to his housekeeper Urška Luzar – was made by Tone Stojko, filmmaker and photographer and produced by the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana.

Slovenia Day 2.- Matajur Mountain by PorSonMedia
Día 2.- Descensos épicos in Soca Valley (Oeste de Eslovenia ????????)

Ljubljana Travel Guide - Slovenian Memorable Moments
Ljubljana Travel Guide - Slovenian Memorable Moments
Ljubljana has no world-famous attractions, which is just great: there's no need to hop from one place to another, taking photos and crossing the items on your checklist. You have all the time to stroll around and enjoy the city itself. In the summer, its center hosts a number of city sponsored events, from children workshops and public playgrounds on the streets that get closed for traffic for the occasion, to Trnfest's off-beat street performances and musical events of all genres. In autumn it shows its academic face as it fills again by students of the state's largest university to whom the city owes much of its youthful character. Cold December days are warmed by thousand of lights, the new year's decoration conceived by local artists, and by food and drinks sold from street stands on the banks of Ljubljanica river. After surviving the boring gray remaining of winter, the city erupts again with spring flowers planted on its streets and crossroads.
Ljubljana (lyoob-lyAH-nah) is a charming city full of artists, museums, and galleries. With a population of 300,000, it is one of the smallest capital cities in Europe. The Ljubljanica river flows through the center of town, past Baroque buildings and under the ramparts of the ancient castle on the hill. The new city and modern-day commercial core lies to the west of the river, while the old city and the castle are located on the east side of the river. Many bridges cross the river, the most famous of which is Tromostovje (Triple Bridge), designed by architect Jože Plečnik.
The center of Ljubljana is small enough to cover on foot. You can pick up a free city map at a tourist information center or in the train station. Navigating or finding a street is easy as streets are clearly marked. Bikes are available for rent at the Slovenian Tourist Information Center (beside the Central Market) as well as some of the hotels in the area (€1 for 2 hours, €5 for the whole day ending 7~9pm depending on season). The city's transportation authority LPP operates 26 bus lines, which are clean and run frequently (every 5-10 minutes, 15-30 minutes during the weekend and summer). Most bus routes operate 5am - 10.30pm (Sundays from 6am).
Downtown Ljubljana is full of trendy cafes (outdoor seating in the summer!) and high-quality restaurants. You can find local Slovenian food, and restaurants with ethnic food from many places around the world. Pizza in Ljubljana is of very good quality. Try a burger Slovene style with a horse burger at the Hot Horse! Cheap and good for returning from a night out.
Ljubljana has several good nightclubs (discotheques). The clubs hold special events, they will play a certain syle of music on certain nights, etc. Some will also impose a strict dress code and age limits. Ljubljana offers several hostels and student homes that function as hostels in the summer.

The river transport on the Ljubljanica and the Sava was the main means of cargo transport to and from the city until the mid-19th century, when railroads were built. Today, the Ljubljanica is used by a number of tourist ships, with wharves under the Butchers' Bridge, at Fish Square, at Court Square, at Breg, at the Poljane Embankment, and elsewhere.

THE BEAUTY OF PLEČNIK' S LJUBLJANA
The story about this project is really simple:
My friend Darja asked me if I wanna be involved in her college project about filming Center of Ljubljana, which was partially created by Jože Plečnik.
Ljubljana dedicated the year 2017 to be Plečnik's year, because we celebrate 60 years of his death. He left big impact in the city with his masterpieces and in this video you see all the main monuments-works of art by Plečnik and this was also the theme of Darja's project.
The other part of the project was sports action, so to cruise around with my bike was just the perfect option for me :D
I'm so happy that I was involved into this, because the center of Ljubljana is really beautiful and it's really worth of watching & visiting it.
Huge thanks to Darja for letting me be the part of this project and congratulations on getting the highest grade for this video. :)
Thank you all for your comments, likes & shares, they really mean a lot to me. :)

Day tour in Ljubljana , Slovenia HD
Ljubljana is Slovenia's capital and largest city. It's known for its university population and green spaces, including expansive Tivoli Park. The curving Ljubljanica River, lined in outdoor cafes, divides the city's old town from its commercial hub. Ljubljana has many museums, including the National Museum of Slovenia, displaying historic exhibitions, and the Museum of Modern Art, home to 20th-century Slovene paintings and sculptures. Ljubljana hosts many distinctive structures by native 20th-century architect Jože Plečnik, including the iconic Tromostovje (Triple Bridge) over the river. Many notable sites are near the Tromostovje. These include the Prešernov Trg (central square), with art nouveau buildings and a turn-of-the-century statue of the plaza's namesake poet, France Prešeren. Nearby, the baroque domed cathedral has twin towers. Moving south, Plečnik's palazzo-style National and University Library features Roman archaeological remnants at its base. The hilltop Ljubljana Castle, a medieval fortress, is connected to old town by a funicular. Like our facebook page for daily blogs :

SLOVENIA: The magnificent BAROQUE CATHEDRAL of SAINT NICHOLAS in LJUBLJANA
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the Ljubljana Cathedral, officially named St. Nicholas's Cathedral (or, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, or simply the Cathedral). It is a cathedral in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia in Europe. Originally, Ljubljana Cathedral was a Gothic church. In the early 18th century, it was replaced by a Baroque building. It is an easily recognizable landmark of the city with its green dome and twin towers and stands at Cyril and Methodius Square by the nearby Ljubljana Central Market and Town Hall.
Slovenia, a country in Central Europe, is known for its mountains, ski resorts and lakes. On Lake Bled, a glacial lake fed by hot springs, the town of Bled contains a church-topped islet and a cliffside medieval castle. In Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, baroque facades mix with the 20th-century architecture of native Jože Plečnik, whose iconic Tromostovje (Triple Bridge) spans the tightly curving Ljubljanica River.
