Franciscan Napa Valley Chardonnay 2009 - Two Thumbs Up Wine
ThumbsUpWine.com: The Franciscan Napa Valley Chardonnay 2009 is for the fans of the true California big butter and oak style. And the finish just goes on and on in the right way. Certainly feels bigger and more expensive than the $15 average retail.

GAVIN NEWSOM:
I think the most exciting thing is real civic engagement and civic participation. And I think the tools of technology are going to aid and advance those voices in a dramatic way, and scale them. I think it's the most dynamic and extraordinary thing that will happen in our lifetime...and it's happening NOW.
And we saw that amplified, obviously, in the Middle East. But I think increasingly you're going to see that not just with dictatorships overseas, but in terms of the limited engagement that exists here in America. I think people are going to have to WAKE UP that it's a new day and a new dawn, and technology is going to create a framework where you can't hide, and you can't run. And you'd better engage and listen and procure a framework of solution or you're not going to be around a lot in terms of, you know, political life.
So I think that's the most extraordinary thing that is happening.

Jeff Smith and Tony Biagi Hourglass Vineyard & Blueline Vineyard
If you really want to know Jeff Smith, or the Hourglass wines, you have to start by blending the worlds of wine and music, his two great passions. The sizzling electricity of a crisp power cord on guitar, or the haunting melody of Cab Franc may not obviously fit together for some, but in Jeff's world they weave interchangeably. On tonight's show, Jeff will be joined by winemaker Tony Biagi to explore how creativity plays a major role in their winemaking. This is a great opportunity for you to explore the intersection of various creative muses that winemakers employ and discuss how they have developed and ply their craft.
Tony & Jeff will crack open some of their current releases and entertain questions about these wines and the two majestic estate vineyards they manage. Should you wish to taste along with them live, you can acquire an Hourglass allocation by clicking on this link GET YOUR WINES

Elliot's knowledge of wine is exceptional but best of all he makes it easy to understand ….and that's because he is also a wine educator. We visited with Elliot at his home in Napa back in February during Premiere Napa Valley week. This is part one of two videos.

Gavin Newsom at MILK Premiere
- San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom on the red carpet at the world premiere of MILK.
Quick Clip: Boxwood Winery [Production Facility]
This is a short video of my recent visit to Boxwood Winery [production facility]. This is a beautiful state-of-the-art facility that produces estate bottled Bordeaux-style blends and a very popular Rosé that's made in the Saignée method. All of Boxwood's wines are grown, produced, and bottled on-site in Middelburg. Well-known (especially for his garage wines) winemaker Stephane Derneoncourt, consults for Boxwood. The production facility is opened by appointment only and there are three [Middleburg, Reston, and Chevy Chase, MD] off-site satellite tastings rooms to enjoy their wines and fine nibbles. A fourth satellite tasting room will open soon at National Harbor in Maryland. LINK: boxwoodwinery.com
