Sights of Australia- Cape Peron Rockingham WA
Point Peron is also known as Cape Peron. Rugged limestone cliffs, reefs and beautiful panoramic views are a feature of this very popular area.
During WWII, an observation post for the coastal battery was located on the hilltop, and the old buildings remain.
A short climb up to the old observation post will give you spectacular views over Cockburn Sound, and the offshore islands. The lookout can be accessed by a pleasant winding path (no steps), or a fairly steep set of steps for those feeling a little more energetic!
Point Peron is excellent for fishing, snorkelling and diving. Explore the rock pools at low tide.

Rockingham - Ultimate Edit - Western Australia
Rockigham is one of the fastest growing areas in W.A. and sadly this will lead to over-crowing, traffic congestion and has already led to a loss of the 'country town' feel that it once had.
The area has some remarkable attractions and the proximity to Perth means that it attracts many visitors during the warmer months.
A short 45 minute drive from Perth, Rockingham (or swinging pig as it is sometimes called by the locals) offers safe swimming beaches, boating, fishing and sight seeing. The large shopping complex at Rockingham City offers a variety of goods.
The area is somewhat spoiled by the industrial strip along the coast to the north. What would have been one of the world's most picturesque bays, the Cockburn (not surprisingly pronounced Coh-burn) Sound area is now cluttered with heavy industry.
The sound was named after Vice Admiral Sir George Cockburn.

Cape Peron - Western Australia
Cape Peron is often referred to as Point Peron. It is located at the southern end of Mangles bay in Rockingham.
It is a popular place for walking, swimming, snorkeling, canoeing and many other activities. Sadly it is under threat from greedy developers who want to create canal based housing on the peninsula.
Most locals want to see the area kept as it is and not developed. We sincerely hope that this is the eventual outcome.
