Scuba Diving Pompano Beach Florida with Pompano Dive Center
This video is a compilation of dives conducted on an Extended Range Diving Services group dive trip in Pompano Beach with Pompano Dive Center. We dove on shipwrecks and coral reefs, and we saw marine life such as sharks, eels, turtles, tropical fish and more. During the trip we also conducted a PADI advanced open water course, a SDI dive master course, and a TDI decompression procedures course.
Pompano Dive Center Presents: Diving in Pompano
Pompano Beach is a very unique place to dive, so let us change your view!
We feature a 3 tier Reef System with depths of 25 ft, 45ft, and 65ft. Broward County is home of 112 Artificial Reefs with many of them being Shipwrecks from 15ft to 300+ft.
Free Shore Diving is a great added benefit on our 23 miles of Beaches. We are located only 15 minutes from FLL airport. Water Temperature is on average, 80* +or- 5*.
Pompano Beach also features great Photography opportunities, from Macro to Pelagic and Wide Angle - there is something for everyone.
A majority of our dive sites are within 15 minutes of our inlet - so you spend more time diving, and less time on a boat, and the diversity of snorkeling through Technical diving ensures each family has something they can do!

Pompano Dive Center diving the Sea Emperor
Diving with Pompano Dive Center on 2.25.13 to the Sea Emperor.
The Sea Emperor is a hopper barge about 170' long and 50' wide. Penetration in this wreck is easy, but please always dive in accordance with your experience and training. There is surface access in every chamber.
She was filled with concrete culverts, but when the barge sank, it flipped. It scattered concrete to her East and created a great playground for the vast aquatic life that calls this wreck home. She landed upside down and quickly became a local favorite. She is in 70ft deep of water, with plenty to see in the 50ft range.
Open Water Divers are welcome.

Scuba Diving Lady Luck Florida, Pompano
Lady Luck Wreck
Location: Pompano Beach
Depth Range: 80-131'
Skill Level: Advanced
The Lady Luck is a 324 ft tanker vessel that was sunk on July 23rd, 2016 and is one of the biggest contributions to Florida’s artificial reef system. Originally named the Newtown Creek, the Lady Luck was built in 1967 and operated as a sewage tanker for nearly 50 years, transporting 1.2 million gallons of sewage per day. She was decommissioned in 2014 and sold to Shipwreck Park Inc. in 2016 thanks to contributions from the city of Pompano Beach and Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park. Artist Dennis MacDonald, of Pompano Beach, was hired to create casino themed displays as a part of the Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park sponsorship. Some of the art displays include a mermaid waitress, an octopus dealer, giant dice, and poker table with card sharks all can be viewed in this video.
The Lady Luck currently sits in 131 ft, with the deck at 105 ft.

SCUBA Diving in Pompano Beach, FL
WOW! What an incredible SCUBA diving trip this was! I can't believe how many things we saw on 4 drift dives and 2 wreck dives! Lobsters, octopus, lionfish, turtles, barracuda, eels, and a VERY rare surprise guest... you'll just have to watch to find out!
Thank you to my Dad for being the best dive buddy in the world! Having done 300+ dives in his life, I could just relax and enjoy the experience under his guidance.
I can't recommend Pompano Beach FL enough! We dove with South Florida Diving Headquarters. For my first wreck dives ever, the United Caribbean and the Ancient Mariner were perfect! Top ten moments in my life swimming the entire length of the Ancient Mariner - inside!

Diving USS Copenhagen in Lauderdale Florida (Deans Dive Center Fort Myers FL)
Diving the USS Copenhagen in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea / Pompano Beach Florida. Dive trip with Deans Dive Center in Fort Myers FL and dove with South Florida Dive Headquarters on the Black Pearl. We dove the SS Copenhagen and the Nursery.
COPENHAGEN
Type of Dive: Mooring Buoy / Drift
Depth Range: 15-30 ft
Skill Level: Open Water Diver or Snorkeler
Location: Fort Lauderdale
Description: The SS Copenhagen was a steamer 325' long with a beam of 47'. The wreck is broken up along the eastern side of the Pompano Drop Off. While some of the wreckage is buried you can still make out many features of the wreck. It is nostalgic diving or snorkeling a wreck site over a hundred years old. Usually you see large schools of bait fish being chased by the rest of the food chain.
History: The British cargo ship Copenhagen was built by Priestman & Co. of Sunderland in 1898. The Copenhagen was owned by Glasgow Ship Owners Co. While en route from Philadelphia to Havana with 4,940 tons of coal, she ran aground on the Pompano Drop Off. Although the ship was unsalvageable, her cargo was saved. The Copenhagen remained partially visible above the water until WWII naval fighter pilots used her for target practice sending her to the bottom where she sits today. The Copenhagen was declared a State Underwater Archaeological Preserve in 1994.
NURSERY
Type of Dive: Mooring Buoy / Drift
Depth Range: 15-30 ft
Skill Level: Open Water Diver or Snorkeler
Location: Pompano Beach (ridge complex)
Description: We named this site the Nursery many years ago after the family of nurse sharks that reside here. There is good habitat here, with large under cut ledges. The sharks are used to divers and snorkelers and usually swim around under the boat. Hundreds of other fish surround the snorkelers on the surface..Occasionally we see the resident morey eel. The Nursery has been featured in numerous T.V. shows and magazines.
Navigation: The Nursery is usually an anchor dive, because most participants want to stay and interact with the nurse sharks. However take a flag and venture down the ledge and come back for more shark action. This is the best shallow dive in SE Florida!

Snorkelers and Divers can both go to this site because of the shallow depths (12-25 feet).
Tons of aquatic life to see at this location, and you are sure to have fun at BOTH of the sites that you visit on this tour. 45 minutes at each location will give you plenty of time to look in every nook and cranny. We get back to our dock around 4:30 so you can enjoy the rest of South Florida at night !
