Portovenere | Italy Travel Diary
Just south of the five famous towns of the Cinque Terre, the port of Portovenere is just as picturesque. Bustling with sun bathers, boat traffic and waterfront restaurants, this historic town with its colourful buildings and steep cliffs is a world heritage site.

Portovenere-Italy
Leave Cinque Terre and continue a few miles further south for a bonus -- Portovenere, yet another cute seaside village you do not want to miss! 66. The only practical way to get to Portovenere from Cinque Terre is by boat, since there is no train service and the hiking trail from Riomaggiore is seven miles long. The ferry arrives at an ultra-picturesque little harbor, dotted with small craft at anchor and framed by a picturesque row of pastel-colored facades lining the waterfront.
Porto Venere (Portovenere) cosa visitare in un giorno - A day in Portovenere
Porto Venere, Portovenere in ligure (La Spezia).

Portovenere is my favorite Ligurian city and you can see why. It's a stunning seaside town with ancient Roman temple to Venus, picture perfect multi-colored streets and a serious addiction to very local seafood--mussels anyone?

Portovenere | Liguria | Italy's Hidden Treasure
Join us and our friend Tom Hall for a perfect day in Portovenere Liguria, a destination not to miss near Cinque Terre.
Is an ancient village that lies at the western Gulf of Spezia or also called Poets Gulf, one of the most picturesque villages, whose origins date back to at least the middle of the 1st century BC.
Its houses were built according to the architecture of the Genoese colonies, with the dual purpose of habitation and defense. During the rule of the Genoese were also built the walls reinforced by three strong towers and battlements and an imposing castle was built to protect the village.
The panorama of Portovenere is dominated by Doria Castle, a majestic fortress built by the Republic of Genoa in 1161 and situated on a rocky outcrop that overlook the town.
It’s also a popular holiday resort since the end of the nineteenth century, much loved by Lord George Gordon Byron. It was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997, because of its architectural and natural beauty.
The history will completely fascinate you.
The strip on-looks the Gulf of Poets and the Cinque Terre, which are a series of five lands that include Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.
Portovenere - Travel Vlog 23 (4K)
Portovenere is beautiful fishing village not too far away from the famous Cinque Terre villages and we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. This beautiful town seemed to be very laid back and hasn't been hit with the same level of tourism as Cinque Terre but is equally colourful and food is much cheaper.Unfortunately i forgot to record the food as we had delicious seafood and were immersed in the sunset. Enjoy and please don't forget to Subscribe : )

Eating Mussels in Portovenere, Italy
Get Lost in Italia with Kelley Ferro
Portovenere's most famous food is it's MUSSELS. These little guys are the freshest around as they are harvested in the waters surrounding the town.
I stepped into Portovene 1 to see they many different ways that mussels can be prepared, and I even got to get behind the counter and cook myself!
But I'm not going to lie, the best part was all the taste testing. Watch to see which dish is my favorite!
Warning: Don't watch on an empty stomach!
