Here’s a quick look at the little village that Chilly and I found ourselves in on San Miguel island in the Azores.
With only one restaurant and a beach cafe, a few dozen houses and a beautiful beach.
The locals are friendly and helpful and the tourists visiting the beach means there’s always an interesting accent within ear shot.

Die Praia da Vinha da Areia ist ein Sandstrand in der portugiesischen Kleinstadt Vila Franca do Campo auf der Azoreninsel São Miguel.
Der etwa 320 Meter lange und breite Strandabschnitt liegt nahezu gegenüber der Ilhéu de Vila Franca.

Established in 1509 Porto Formoso is a small village on the north side of São Miguel island in the Azores, build above a natural harbor and with a grand old church as the villages centre this is an amazing little place that retains its charm and history.
Surrounded by green fields and blue sea it is definately very picturesque. Porto Formoso is also the home of the tea gardens on São Miguel.
Small uncrowded and with only a few restaurants and no nightlife this is the perfect place for a rexaxing holiday. The Port is also a popular place for tourists to take a day on the water fishing or sightseeing with a local fishing boat.
Chilly and I were welcomed by the local residents and invited in for a cold drink and a light meal, this is typical from all the local people we have met, The people from the Azores, in my experience are the most proud of where they live and happy to take a random tourist to show them something special in the area.

Hotel in Azores: Moinho das Feteiras
Moinho das Feteiras is a rural tourism hotel located in the southern side of San Miguel Island in Azores, near by the sea cliff. It is composed by a wind mill and two independent houses, sitting on a 4000 m2 of land, mostly garden, which is crossed by an old lava flow where rain water runs from the mountain of Sete Cidades to the ocean.
It is a self-catering accommodation, not far from Ponta Delgada airport (15km), and it is on a reasonable walking distance to the public facilities of the village.
