안녕하세요 여러분!
We finally went to Provence Village! I've always wanted to come here and we finally made it.
We also intended to go to English Village and Hyeri Art Village but I saw some articles saying the former has already been closed down and museums/stores in Hyeri Art Village are closed on Mondays. We didn't want to risk it because both were quite a walk from Provence Village. We decided to go back to Seoul after. Also, so at least we still have a place to visit next time we are back in Seoul.
In all honesty, I am already running out of tourist-y places to go to in Seoul. But I love coming here still. Seoul will always have my soul.

Paju, city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea near border with North Korea
Paju (Korean pronunciation: [pʰa.dʑu]) is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Paju was made a city in 1997; it had previously been a county (gun).[1]
The city area is 672.78km2,[2] and it is located just south of Panmunjeom on the 38th parallel. In 2015, the population of Paju has increased to 427,668.[2] To defend the South Korean capital, Seoul, many U.S. and South Korean army bases are set up in the city.[3] In 2002, the northernmost South Korean railway station, Dorasan, was opened. North Korean territory and Kaesong City can be seen from Mount Dora in the city.
• Cosmos is Paju City's representative of flowers growing wild in Spring. It has very strong vitality, and symbolize unity and harmonious life as a citizen of Paju City. The flowers are neat and beautiful with different colors such as pale pink and red.
Gingko
• Ginkgos are large and beautiful trees which are usually planted as street trees. People can obtain high-quality wood from them. Also, their leaves and fruits are used as a valuable medicine. Magnificent view of the trees means prosperity and eternal peace in Paju City.
Pigeon
• Pigeons are meek and gentle with soft feathers which follow humans well. They symbolize the peace and security of mankind, and they mean to desire the unification of the Korean Peninsula and the well-being of citizens .

• The badge brings the look of Paju implicitly. Semiconductors, which symbolize high-tech industry, high-quality culture and books, and life based on the shape of the rice industry have represented the badge with the symbol Paju logo.[4]

The city of Paju captured the attention of the world when it hosted the historic inter-Korean summit.
Curious about the region that is just south of the demarcation line separating the two Koreas,... a growing number of visitors have been flocking to the area.
Our Park Hee-jun was there to turn the spotlight on the various tourist attractions. Paju city in Gyeonggi-do Province is close to North Korea, both in terms of distance and history.
And within the city limits is Imjingak-- a village built in 1972, a couple of decades after the Korean War armistice was agreed. Imjingak is only about 7 kilometers away from the Demarcation Line.
“This village stands as a symbol of hope-- hope for reunification between the two Koreas. And after the 2018 inter-Korean Summit was held nearby in Panmunjom, more and more people have been visiting the area.
Following the summit, the number of visitors to some attractions has nearly tripled. It's a popular spot for those wishing to get a close-up understanding of the two Koreas' history, but it's also a great destination for couples and families to take some time off and relax.
Especially the last day there was this meeting between these two presidents. So now I was feeling that it was a good time to know more about this situation, this political situation.
Hopefully there will be more exchanges between the two Koreas through roads and railways, so that I can also visit Baekdusan Mountain.
And thanks to the soaring numbers of visitors,... restaurants and cafes in the area are also seeing better business.
Sales are 2 to 2-and-half times higher than around a week ago. Many people are visiting Imjingak out of curiosity from the meeting between the two Koreas.
At the village, visitors can take a trip back through history,... to the war that separated South and North.
It's one of the world's most heavily guarded borders, but the atmosphere is calm and quiet.
To boost tourism in the region,... the government plans to create more attractions and increase the city's annual festivals.
And with hopes for peace and reunification in the air,... Paju could have even more visitors in the future.

Provence Village (Korea Trip!)
We come to this place in Paju every time we visit Korea. It is such a cute little place to walk around in all seasons. We then drove about 10 minutes to a traditional Korean house that had been converted in to a restaurant. I ate traditional Korean food for the first time... and it was sooo good! We also managed to squeeze in a bit of play time. Enjoy!
Went to the DMZ and Paju Provence Village!
Went to my second field trip with WOWKOREA supporters on June 1-2 to Paju and Ganghwa island, and here's part 1 of the vlog where you can see what we did in Paju. Don't forget to watch the second vlog in Ganghwa island.
For visiting the DMZ, I recommend getting an official tour since some spots are not accessible unless you’re in a tour group.

Day out to Paju Provence Village
Our December winter adventures in South Korea 2018

A day trip up north to Paju to visit Provence Village and Heyri Art Village. We could even see North Korea Peninsula while taking a public bus there. Took us about an hour and half to Paju from Seoul Station.
Had a quick brunch at Heyri Art Village and decided to head to Provence Village to spend the whole afternoon there instead.
One of our initial plan was to visit the Zoorarium Ilsan and we chanced on the Zoorarium branch at Provence Village. The link is here
Basically it is an animal-kids themed cafe where kids can feed animals, small play area and parents can sit, relax have coffee.
Though it is not a huge cafe but ended up this was one of our highlights of the trip and had a blast at Zoorarium. Really worth the visit!
Enjoyed the evening lightings at Provence Village before heading back to Seoul.

The Illumination show is located at the Provence Village.
It is a French themed village with restaurants, bakery & Cafes, boutiques, small shops, art studio and an herb garden with a small pond. Each shop is unique and painted in bright cheerful bold colors.
Provence Village is located about an hour from Seoul. If you are in the area, it is certainly worth visiting. It's about 20 minute from Imjingak so it's great to visit Heyri Art Village, Tongil (Unification) Observatory as well
