Providence R.I. to Atlanta, GA USA on Amtrak, March 21 & 22, 2015
These are scenes taken while traveling on Amtrak's Northeast Regional and Crescent trains. The Northeast Regional took me to New York Penn station, and the Crescent took me to Atlanta's Brookwood Station, with longer stops in Washington, D.C. (to change from one electric locomotive to two diesel-electriclocomotives) and in Charlotte N.C., to service the train.
I got some real wintertime views of the right of way at the beginning, followed by some views of New York City and other cities along the way.
At 12:55 you can see the procedure begin to uncouple the electric locomotive, and then I went inside Union Station and out the front for a quick view of the US Capitol dome, surrounded by scaffolding. By the time I returned to the train, the replacement locomotives were in place, and you can read what GE put on the side of each of them. Much of the journey on the Crescent was in the dark, but the sky brightened up just enough for some views of the final miles to Atlanta. My apologies for the focusing problems caused by the low light levels outside! You can see downtown Suwannee at 22:30, and we got to race a MARTA rapid rail train at 23:00. Ga. highway 400 can be seen at 24:06. Thanks for watching!

Providence, RI, circa 1975
This is a real treat, especially if you know Providence, RI. This is Super 8 film I shot probably around 1975. The old train station had been more or less abandoned by then - it's now the site of the Capital Grille and all the other restaurants. The Paris Theater, a movie theater, showed the finest is all male adult entertainment - you can only see part of the old marquee. There's the Old Stone Bank, back when it was a bank, and the Hospital Trust building, which still stands, of course. It's safe to say, though, that this Providence just simply doesn't exist any more.

Providence State Capital of Rhode Islands
While Rhode Island is the smallest of the American states, its capitol building can stand with the best of them.
It is the usual shape for most of the American capitols -- a long rectangle box with a dome on a barrel in the middle.

A Glimpse Of Providence Place - Rhode Island Largest Mall | Brief Review / Travel Vlog By Aiman
After his 2-week summer program at Brown University ended on July 6, 2018, Aiman and his family had to head up north from Providence, RI to Cambridge, MA to pick up Hizami at Harvard. While en-route they decided to stop by at the Providence Place. It is a beautiful mall and Aiman decided to do a quick vlogging video for those who have never been to this mall before. It is not the best mall in the world, but it is a good place to stop if you're travelling in the area.
Providence Place Mall is a large shopping center located in the downtown area of Providence Rhode Island. This mall is the largest in Rhode Island and one of the largest in Southern New England.
Providence Place Mall is probably the best choice in the area. There are plenty of great stores, entertainment options, and restaurants. The Dave and Busters arcade is a fun time especially since it is located inside the mall so you have other options for food and entertainment as well.
About Providence Place:
Providence Place is an urban shopping mall, currently owned by GGP Inc. It is located in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, near the Rhode Island State House and Providence Station, and by the interchange of I-95, I-195, U.S. 1 and U.S. 6.
The mall became the largest shopping mall in Rhode Island and Providence Plantations with its opening in 1999, with a total of 1,400,000 sq ft (130,000 m2) gross leasable area. It was originally anchored by Lord & Taylor, Filene's, and Nordstrom; Lord & Taylor was later replaced by JCPenney, which itself was replaced with an expanded parking garage following the latter store's closure in 2015. Filene's was converted to Macy's in 2006.

About 180 miles northeast of the Big Apple, Providence is a slightly farther trip, but don't let the distance deter you. This city (which can be reached by train, car or bus) offers a walkable downtown and the perfect mix of historic and art-centric attractions. You could spend an entire day exploring the RISD Museum, but you'll want to save time to admire the colonial homes along Benefit Street before dining on Italian cuisine in Federal Hill.

Providence Rhode Island (RI) Real Estate Tour
Tour Providence, RI neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.
Providence, Rhode Island is the second fastest-growing city in the Northeast, and the second largest city in New England. Now a bustling center for industry, the arts, and higher education, Providence boasts an illustrious history spanning more than three centuries.
In 1636, a religious exile from the Plymouth colony named Roger Williams arrived at Narragansett Bay. Williams quickly established relations with the local Narragansett Indians and secured a title in short order; the tracts of land he was accorded over the next several years made up the original Providence colony. Opportunities for agriculture and early industry were limited due to the area's rocky terrain, and Providence suffered an additional setback when the downtown was destroyed during King Philip's War.
The colony's tradition of independent-mindedness made Providence a hotbet of revolutionary fervor, however, and the notorious Gaspee affair of 1772, during which Providence merchants and sailors burnt the customs sloop Gaspee, was arguably the act that kickstarted the American Revolution.
Over the course of the 19th century, Providence emerged as an industrial hub of the northeast, its bustling economy centered on the manufacture of machinery, silverware, jewelry and textiles. Though the decline of the textile industry set into motion a recession beginning in the 1920's, Providence entered a period of economic and cultural renewal in the 1970s.
The city government opened several new parks and recreational areas, and the construction of the Providence Place Mall in 1999 provided opportunities for newfound growth and economic prosperity. A generation of renewal and reconstruction has placed Providence at the forefront of American cities. Providence has joined the select list of magnet cities that draw investment, talent and culture from distant points. Today, the city skyline is undergoing constant change and property values are on the rise. For other town tours visit . For towns in RI visit . For RI relocation information go to .
