Detroit, Michigan - A City on the Rise
After years of decline, Detroit is now on the rise. Unlike many of the formerly Manufacturing cities of have declined and remain depressed, Detroit is rising up. We show this now beautiful city on the shores of the Detroit River in this Aerial & Ground tour of the Midwest's 2nd Largest City, only behind Chicago.
Stock footage from this video is available for purchase, contact Tampa Aerial Media.
Detroit is older than our country, founded in 1701. The city grew largely to its automobile industry, but also fell with the automobile industry. Today, however the once bankrupt city is now rising with an explosive real estate market in the downtown corridor.
We feature the People Mover in this video which was opened in 1987. It is a monorail style 2.9 mile loop around downtown with 13 stops at a fare of 75 cents. We show Ford Field home of the Lions, and Comerica Park home of the Tigers. We had meant to also show Joe Louis Arena home of the Red Wings. It is right next to the Cobo Center, and we simply saw that and was thinking we had shot the arena but didn't.
The Renaissance Center is the most impressive and modern looking of the downtown Skyscrapers. It is the world head quarters of General Motors. It is so large it has its own Zip Code. 10,000 empolyees work in this building.

Detroit Zoo Full Tour - Royal Oak, Michigan
The Detroit Zoo is a zoo located in Royal Oak and Huntington Woods, Michigan, about 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the Detroit city limits, at the intersection of Woodward Avenue, 10 Mile Road, and Interstate 696. It is operated by the Detroit Zoological Society (DZS), a non-profit organization, along with the Belle Isle Nature Center, located within the city limits of Detroit on Belle Isle. The Detroit Zoo is one of Michigan's largest family attractions, hosting more than 1.5 million visitors annually. Situated on 125 acres of naturalistic exhibits, it is home to more than 2,400 animals representing 235 species. The Detroit Zoo was the first zoo in the United States to use barless exhibits extensively.
Habitats:
National Amphibian Conservation Center
The National Amphibian Conservation Center is a $7 million, 12,000-square-foot facility situated on a two-acre Michigan wetland area and pond called Amphibiville. The center, which opened in June 2000, has a diverse range of frogs, toads, salamanders, newts and caecilians. The Wall Street Journal dubbed the attraction Disneyland for toads. The National Amphibian Conservation Center participates in research and conservation efforts for species including the Panamanian golden frog, Puerto Rican crested toad, and Wyoming toad.
The Arctic Ring of Life
The 4-acre Arctic Ring of Life, which opened in October 2001, is home to two polar bears, gray seals, a harbor seal and arctic foxes. It is among the largest polar bear habitats in North American zoos.
Cotton Family Wetlands and Boardwalk
Mimicking a Michigan ecosystem, the 1.7-acre pond and wetlands area and accompanying 7,200-square-foot boardwalk is home to native fish, frogs, turtles and birds as well as the zoo's trumpeter swans. The boardwalk itself is made from a 95-percent recycled wood-alternative decking material called Trex, composed primarily of plastic grocery bags and reclaimed hardwood. The Wetlands and Boardwalk are bounded by Amphibiville, the Warchol Beaver Habitat, the Edward Mardigian Sr. River Otter Habitat, and the Holden Reptile Conservation Center.
Thanks to a $102,350 grant from NOAA, the Wetlands are also able to be used as professional development and outdoor classroom for teachers and students underrepresented in science fields.
Cotton Family Wolf Wilderness
The Cotton Family Wolf Wilderness is a $1.4 million two-acre sanctuary that features native meadows and trees, a flowing stream and pond, dens, and elevated rock outcroppings from which two gray wolves survey their surroundings. The habitat also incorporates a renovated historic log cabin which had existed on the property.
Giraffe Encounter
At the Giraffe Encounter, guests are able to feed the giraffes from an 18-foot-tall platform that extends into their habitat. This experience, which started in July 2007, runs Tuesday through Sunday from spring through fall.
The Great Apes of Harambee
The Great Apes of Harambee is a 4-acre indoor/outdoor habitat home to chimpanzees and western lowland gorillas. The animals may be rotated into each other's habitat spaces, as this simulates nomadic movement similar to wild behavior.
Holden Reptile Conservation Center
Opened as the Holden Museum of Living Reptiles in 1960, the Holden Reptile Conservation Center is home to 150 reptiles representing 70 species, 45 percent of which are considered threatened or endangered in the wild.
Edward Mardigian Sr. River Otter Habitat
The Edward Mardigian Sr. River Otter Habitat provides a habitat for five river otters and features a 5,900-gallon pool complete with waterfall and waterslide. The pool is enclosed on one side by a glass wall, on the other side of which is an observation building. The habitat is designed so that visitors – including small children – can enjoy an eye-level view of the otters as they swim.
The North American river otter (Lontra canadensis) can weigh 20-30 pounds, and its slender, cylindrical body can reach 2–3 feet in length. The aquatic mammal sports short, dense, waterproof fur and profuse whiskers. The playful river otter is swift on land as well as in the water, though its loping trot can look somewhat ungainly compared to its graceful slide through the water.
Polk Penguin Conservation Center
The Polk Penguin Conservation Center (PPCC), opened in April 2016. The Polk Penguin Conservation Center is the largest center for penguins in the world and was awarded the 2017 Exhibit Award by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, given annually to accredited zoos and aquariums for excellence in exhibit design.
The Wildlife Interpretive Gallery
The Wildlife Interpretive Gallery is home to the Butterfly Garden, Matilda Wilson Free-Flight Aviary, Science On a Sphere, as well as DZS's permanent fine art collection. Shelle Isle, an exhibit dedicated to the partula snail- a once-extinct animal the DZS is credited with saving.

DETROIT, MICHIGAN
Driving in Detroit, mostly Downtown Area.
Last 3 min of the video: some nice close-ups of the GM Building, Entrance into the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel (Canada-bound) AND a US Border Patrol Parking Lot, IMHO a total waste of money to keep so many vehicles in this very area instead of using them exactly where they are REALLY needed, The MEXICAN Border, in 20+ years I've never heard of any lunatic trying to get into Detroit, USA illegally, swimming of course.
Hopefully this video is gonna put a little smile on the brave and hardworking ppl of Detroit in these very hard times for them:
Bad, VERY bad politics of a particular political spectrum, the major cause for how Detroit looks like and experiencing nowadays.
Music by Detroit's own son, the one and only KID ROCK.
Kid Rock on Fox News with Megyn Kelly:
So enjoy the video, visit Detroit when in the area, listen to Kid Rock if you wish, and, last but not least: BE FREE.
GOD BLESS

Personal History in Detroit, Michigan
I got to go with my parents as they tracked down the house where they lived as newlyweds. Along the way, we saw a lot of the Detroit that was once our stomping grounds, and we also found my great-grandparents' house. Later, we stopped by the apartment where I spent my first days on this earth.

About Detroit:
Detroit is the largest city in the midwestern state of Michigan. Near Downtown, the neoclassical Detroit Institute of Arts is famed for the Detroit Industry Murals painted by Diego Rivera, and inspired by the city’s ties to the auto industry, giving it the nickname Motor City. Detroit is also the birthplace of Motown Records, whose chart-topping history is on display at their original headquarters, Hitsville U.S.A.

HOT NEWS Detroit 2017 Best Of Detroit MI Tourism
Detroit Tourism. Detroit (/dᵻˈtrɔɪt/[6]) is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Michigan, the fourth-largest city in the Midwest and the largest city on the United States–Canada border. It is the seat of Wayne County, the most populous county in the state.
The municipality of Detroit had a 2015 estimated population of 677,116, making it the 21st-most populous city in the United States. The metropolitan area, known as Metro Detroit, is home to 4.3 million people and lies at the heart of the Great Lakes Megalopolis area, with around 60 million people.[7] Roughly one-half of Michigan's population lives in Metro Detroit alone.[4][8] The Detroit–Windsor area, a commercial link straddling the Canada–U.S. border, has a total population of about 5.7 million
Windsor border, Detroit, Michigan, United States, North America
The Detroit–Windsor region is a transborder agglomeration comprising the American city of Detroit, Michigan, the Canadian city of Windsor, Ontario and the Detroit River between them. The Detroit–Windsor area acts as a critical commercial link straddling the Canada–United States border and has a total population of about 5,700,000. It is North America's largest cross-border conurbation. Quebec City–Windsor Corridor contains 18 million people, with 51% of the Canadian population and three out of the four largest metropolitan areas, according to the 2001 Census. The Detroit–Windsor area covers the southeastern Michigan counties of St. Clair, Macomb, Lapeer, Genesee, Livingston, Oakland, Washtenaw, Monroe and Wayne; the Southern Ontario City of Windsor and counties of Essex, Lambton, and Kent; and the northwest Ohio counties of Lucas (which includes the City of Toledo), Fulton, Wood, Ottawa, and Sandusky. The Detroit–Windsor region is not recognized formally as a single metropolitan area by either the U.S. or Canadian government. If it were, the region would be the eighth most populous urban region in North America. Nevertheless, the communities have been historically tied by several partnerships and agreements, including the Detroit and Windsor Tunnel Corporation, the firm that is owned equally by the City of Detroit and City of Windsor and operates the tunnel. The cities are historically linked through the rise of the auto industry in both countries due to the U.S.-Canadian Auto Pact in the 1960s, and share geopolitical concerns affecting transportation and shared resources, such as the Detroit River. Many federal, state and provincial bi-national agreements affecting trade and border security also link the region. Today, increasing governmental co-operation is being formalized. On June 15, 2012, the construction of a new bridge between Windsor and Detroit was announced in the two cities by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Transport Minister Denis Lebel and Michigan Governor Rick Snyder. The bridge announcement was a long-anticipated formalization of a new partnership between Canada and Michigan, with Canada paying the entire Michigan share of the new bridge, including a new interchange with Interstate-75. The joint Royal Canadian Mounted Police and U.S. Coast Guard Shiprider program of marine border security are examples. The increasing interdependence of Detroit–Windsor was recognized by U.S. regional business and government in 2007 when Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis was invited to take part in, and speak at, the annual Mackinac Policy Conference, a committee of regional business and political leaders, developed to address the economic and quality of life issues that matter most to Southeast Michigan. Detroit is home to the Big Three automobile companies. As a result, Windsor is home to the Chrysler Canada Headquarters and car plants for two of the Big Three. While the inner city of Detroit has experienced economic difficulties over the years, the affluent suburbs are magnets for immigrants, wealth, and population growth. Windsor's economy is reliant on the automotive industry, but has diversified. As an example, Caesars Windsor casino, the largest in Canada, attracts visitors from the Metro Detroit region. In fact, Kwame Kilpatrick stated that Detroit is transitioning from a manufacturing economy to a casino economy in his re-election campaign. Moreover, Windsor's economy has continued to diversify with several hundred green-energy jobs having been created as of June 2011. More capital investment in the city is expected, especially in the aerospace and air cargo industry. Windsor Airport is currently undergoing a major expansion, with an aircraft maintenance and repair hangar being constructed, as well as cargo facilities for air to rail/road transport. Many people commute across the Detroit–Windsor International border daily. Professions identified in the 1988 Free Trade Act are permitted TN Visas for legal work in the United States and Canada. As an example, over 5,000 Windsor residents work in the healthcare industry in Metro Detroit; as such, the industry is one of Windsor's largest indirect employers. One of the largest U.S. law firms, Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone P.L.C., has offices in both Windsor and Detroit. A 2004 Border Transportation Partnership study showed that 257,000 jobs in Michigan and $13 billion in annual production depend on the Detroit–Windsor international border crossing. With many new businesses in the suburbs, the region is competitive in emerging technologies including biotechnology, nanotechnology, information technology, and hydrogen fuel cell development.
