A unique concept inspired from worlds first book village/town situated in London, Government of Maharashtra took initiative and created this BOOK VILLAGE. A huge book library it is, that to free of cost. If you are a avid reader, book lover, enthusiast then you must visit this place, even if you are not then too you should visit, we are sure you'll fall in love with BHILAR, Previously known for its BEST quality of STRAWBERRIES, since 2017 it has got a new name PUSTAKANCHA GAAV i.e. Village of books.
Villagers are such lovely people that they opened up their homes, shops, to convert them into libraries and reading rooms, they also accommodate you in their houses at very affordable rates and feed you some authentic Maharashtrian veg & nonveg cuisine, which you will find nowhere in the world. Also they treat you with lots and lots of farm fresh, handpicked strawberries, even you can visit the strawberry farms and enjoy plucking strawberries yourselves, Mahabaleshwar is just 15 km from here, so you can easily hop there too and come back, but according to us , if you want to just relax, read books, if you want to experience a different holiday apart from the very cliché resort hotel stay, swimming pool etc , you must must visit BHILAR , The VILLAGE OF BOOKS, PUSTAKANCHA GAAV as it is widely called. In today's video we are taking you all to the tour of Bhilar near Mahabaleshwar hill station. Which is recently declared as Inida's first village of books.This village is already famous for its strawberry and cool climate among tourists now along with that tourists started visiting this village often to read books along with eating strawberries.
As of now this village have only Marathi books in this 25 home's
And we have also found that adding new books of other Indian language's work is going on and those books will be available soon

The Bhilar Trails : पुस्तकांचं गाव | village of books
A ride in the rain to the only and unique village in India, BHILAR, a village is located near the hill station Panchgani, where the entire village is a library with more than 22 genres, more than 15000 books and nature in abundance. It is indeed a library of its own kind. A must visit for all explorers out there.
30 locations have been chosen to make these libraries in this village. Local people, Villagers, authorities and the State Govt. all came together with this unique vision to share knowledge and make these a hotspot to bridge rural India with the urban facilities of books and the word away from this beautiful valley. Here the locals get an immense exposure to the world of science, arts, history and more through these books and the variety of people visiting them. People from the city, on the other hand, gets an opportunity to connect with nature, know their roots, live and breathe in this breathtaking valley of Panchgani, India. Exploring the unexplored, where rural culture, mother nature and knowledge in abundance was all over the place making the entire experience so unique in every way.

भारतातील पाहिलं-वहिलं आणि एकमेव 'पुस्तकांचं गाव'-भिलार.
पाचगणी आणि महाबळेश्वरपासून अगदी जवळ, सह्याद्रीच्या कुशीत वसलेलं टुमदार गाव-भिलार. स्ट्रॉबेरी आणि पावसाळ्यात पाचगणीतून दिसणाऱ्या धबधब्यासाठी परिचित असलेलं हे गाव, आता पुस्तकांचं गाव म्हणूनही ओळखलं जातंय. मराठी भाषा विभागाच्या 'राज्य मराठी विकास संस्था' आणि भिलार गावच्या ग्रामस्थांच्या साहाय्याने, महाराष्ट्र शासनाने ही संकल्पना 2017 साली प्रत्यक्षात उतरवली. काही ठराविक घरं, लॉज, शाळा आणि मंदिरं अशा एकूण 25 जागांमध्ये मराठी संस्कृती,नाटक, कादंबरी, ऐतिहासिक ग्रंथ, चरित्र, नियतकालिके, क्रीडा, बालसाहित्य, या आणि अशा अनेकविध विषयांची 15000 हुन अधिक पुस्तके मांडण्यात आली. पुस्तकांची योग्य निवड आणि विभागणी, ठिकठिकाणी भिंतींवर रेखाटलेली चित्रं, पेंटिंग्ज, वाचकांच्या सोयीसाठी केलेली पुस्तकांची कल्पक व सुबक मांडणी, उत्तम व्यवस्था या सर्व गोष्टींमुळे वाचकांच्या माध्यमातून या गावाबद्दल प्रचार आणि प्रसार झाला नसता तरच नवल. म्हणूनच पुस्तकांच्या गावला एक वर्ष पूर्ण होता होता, मे 2018 मध्ये आणखी पाच नवी घरे या प्रकल्पात जोडली गेली. वाचकांनी आपल्या आवडीचे पुस्तक निवडावे आणि निसर्गाच्या सानिध्यात, पक्ष्यांच्या किलबिलाटात वाचनानंद अनुभवावा हे उद्दिष्ट ठेवून सुरुवात केलेल्या या प्रकल्पात या वर्षी अजून एक भर पडली, ती म्हणजे खुल्या प्रेक्षागृहाची!
साहित्य क्षेत्रातील दिग्गजांना ते अगदी उदयोन्मुख कलाकारांना आपली कला, येथील रसिकांसमोर सादर करण्यासाठी मिळालेलं हक्काचं व्यासपीठ!
इथे येणाऱ्या पर्यटकांसाठी राहण्याची सोयदेखील केलेली आहे.
आम्हाघरी धन शब्दांचीच रत्ने... म्हणत हसतमुखाने स्वागत करू पाहणारे, हे घर आपलेच समजावे असे म्हणत रसिकांना आपलंसं करणारे भिलारचे ग्रामस्थ खरोखरच रत्नसमृद्ध आहेत ....

एक विनम्र आवाहन-गावाचं नैसर्गिक सौंदर्य अबाधित राखण्याचा प्रयत्न भिलारचे ग्रामस्थ करत आहेत. सोबतच त्यांनी स्वतःच्या घराचा/जमिनीचा काही भाग या प्रकल्पासाठी देऊ केलाय. या सर्वांबद्दल कृतज्ञता राखत आणि सामाजिक बांधिलकी जपत पर्यटकांनी प्रयत्नपूर्वक प्लास्टिकचा वापर टाळण्याचा आणि पर्यावरणाचा समतोल राखण्याचा प्रयत्न करावा.
