This hotel is dishonest and I would suggest you stay elsewhere, such as on the main street just around the corner, where there are two hostels run by Europeans who know how to manage and keep a place clean.

Entry Title: Sandakan and the Puu Jih Syh Chinese Temple
Entry:
Today it was back to Sandakan once more. On the river we spotted yet more Proboscis Monkeys leaping from branch to branch. I wasn't looking forward to crossing the Sulu Sea once more but this time the water was much calmer. We returned to the jetty at Sim Sim and it was an opportunity to have a look around the water village. Lunch was at the Sabah Hotel where they served a nice buffet, then it was a quick visit to see Puu Jih Syh Chinese Buddhist Temple. The temple is located up an incredible steep hill with hairpin bends, however because of its situation it afford glorious views across Sandakan Bay. The temple is a little unnerving as it appears to have swastikas at every turn, but Basri explained that before the Nazis used this symbol it was used as a sacred symbol in Buddhism. Then it was the short flight back to Kota Kinabalu and the Tanjung Aru Resort Hotel. Dinner was at he seaside Cocoa Joes and I had one of the largest cocktails I had ever seen - a Romantic Greenery!
