कोल्हापूर : दूरदृष्टी काय असते हे आपल्याला राजर्षी शाहू महाराजांनी शिकवलंय. पण तरीही त्याकडे दुर्लक्ष होतं आणि दुर्घटना घडतात. रत्नागिरी जिल्ह्यातील चिपळूणमधील तिवरे धरण फुटून अनेकांनी जीव गमावला, तर कित्येकांचे संसार धरणाच्या पाण्यात वाहून गेले. या धरणाने स्थानिकांच्या डोळ्यात ठेवलं ते केवळ पाणी आणि पाणीच. याच दुर्घटनेच्या अनुशंगाने राज्यातील इतर धरणांचा आढावा घेणं गरजेचं आहे. कोल्हापुरातील राधानगरीत शाहू महाराजांनी 100 वर्षांपूर्वी धरण बांधलं. पण आजही ते भक्कमपणे उभा आहे.

चालतात तरी कसे राधानगरी धरणाचे ७ स्वयंचलित दरवाजे?
यावर्षीच्या दमदार पावसामुळे राधानगरी धरण गेल्या पाच वर्षापेक्षा लवकर भरले असून सात स्वयंचलित दरवाजे पुन्हा एकदा सर्वांच्या उत्सुकता आणि जिज्ञासेचे केंद्रबिंदू बनले आहेत. अतिरिक्त पाण्याच्या विसर्गासाठी स्वयंचलित दरवाजे असणारे राधानगरी हे देशातील एकमेव धरण आहे. हे दरवाजे म्हणजे शाहू राजांच्या दूरदृष्टीचे आणि जुन्या स्थापत्य अभियांत्रिकी धोरणाचे प्रतिकच आहे.

मुसळधार पावसामुळं कोल्हापूर जिल्ह्यातलं राधानगरी धरण 100 टक्के भरलंय..त्यामुळं धरणाचे स्वयंचलित दरवाजे उघडले आहेत..धरणाच्या 6 नंबर गेटमधून 2800 क्युसेक क्षमतेनं पाणी पंचगंगा नदीपात्रात सोडण्यात आलंय...नदीकाठच्या गावांना त्यामुळं सतर्कतेचा इशारा देण्यात आलाय...पंचगंगा नदीनं आज सकाळीच इशारा पातळी ओलांडली होती..आता राधानगरीतून पाणी सोडण्यात आल्यानं पंचगंगा नदी धोक्याची पातऴी ओलांडण्याची शक्यता निर्माण झालीय

Radhanagari Dam, is a gravity dam on Bhogawati river near Radhanagari in State of Maharashtra in India. This is the first ever built dam in India .Dam construction was initiated by visionary Rajarshi Shahu on 18 February 1907.
