Costa Brava Travel Guide for Food Lovers (Cadaqués, La Vall de Bianya, Pyrenees & Girona) in Spain
Join us as we showcase the Costa Brava region of Spain in this travel guide for food lovers as part of #EuroFoodTrip.
We started off our journey spending the night in Cadaqués waking up the following morning to go on a sailing trip along the Cap de Creus Natural Park on a traditional boat. We had the opportunity to bask in the sun and eat plenty of local seafood including Fideuà (noodles with seafood) and mussels with Bizcochos Borrachos (drunken Spanish sponge cake) for dessert. In the afternoon we visited La Vinyeta Cellar vineyard to harvest grapes by hand and then crush them with our feet. Afterwards we enjoyed a wine tasting paired with cheese. That evening we did a cooking workshop and a gin and tonic workshop and tasting with Gin Nut staying overnight at La Vall de Bianya.
The following morning had us waking up before the crack of dawn to go on a hot air balloon ride over la Garrotxa where we had a fantastic view of the Pyrenees mountain range. We then transferred to Girona where we had lunch at Celler de Can Roca considered to be the 2nd best restaurant in the world. After relaxing for a bit we took a guided city tour of Girona exploring its wonderful architecture, sampling some gelato and picking out Game of Thrones locations. Our final meal on this trip featured traditional Catalan food at Can Xifra restaurant where I got to drink wine out of a porró and had the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted in my whole life.

Costa Brava Travel Guide for Food Lovers (Cadaqués, La Vall de Bianya, Pyrenees & Girona) in Spain Travel Food Video Transcript:
So hey guys, this week we are in Costa Brava, Spain and we're going to be taking you on a bit of a food adventure. Can't wait to eat and travel.
So it is a beautiful day out. We have blue skies and I think that calls for a sailing trip.
So lunch is served and we are having Fideuà on the boat so have a look here. This is a seafood dish and it is made with pasta that is cooked in fish juice and we've also got some prawns.
So next up we're at La Vinyeta and this is a winery and a vineyard so we're going to be drinking some wine and doing a little tour.
So Sam has found a new career here in Costa Brava picking grapes
So I'm going to be stomping some grapes this afternoon in order to do so I need my traditional Catalan hat, Catalan scarf. Now I'm ready to do this and we're going barefoot.
So Sam tell us what are you about to drink? I'm trying the grapes that you stepped on. With my bare feet.
Well, I can't think of a better way to finish off this vineyard tour than with wine, cheese and cold cuts
So tonight we are spending the night in a place called la Ferreria and this hotel is like traveling back in time.
We're taking a hot air balloon ride and it should be amazing. Like this is something we've never done and we really want to try it out. Yeah, so we're going to be flying over the Pyrenees mountains and it should be spectacular. Let's go.
So this afternoon we're doing a bit of a taste test at el Celler de Can Roca and this is the second highest rated restaurant in the whole world. It should be delicious.
So next up we're going to start the appetizer and this is going to take us a journey around the world.
And there is the world.
So this afternoon we're going to do a walking tour of Girona and it looks beautiful. It looks really colorful but first up we need to get ice cream.
Okay, so we finally got our ice cream and apparently there is some kind of Game of Thrones reference here. It is called Ma Daurada and that means the golden hand.
So this bridge was built by Monsieur Eiffel himself before the Eiffel Tower ever came to be.
So that is a wrap from beautiful Costa Brava. I have to say we ate like Kings and Queens while we were here. Yeah, and we got a nice taste of the region in terms of all of the travel activities and things you can do as well. Definitely somewhere we'd like to come back and explore more in-depth. Yeah, so we hope you enjoyed this video and if you have any questions about travel in Costa Brava, Spain just leave them in the comments below. See you next time.

At least 4 Dead as Torrential rain and Floods Batter Spain
At least four killed in eastern Spain floods.
The change of season is usually violent in the western Mediterranean and eastern Spain is bearing the brunt this autumn.
At least four people were killed after floodwater gushed through cities, towns and valleys of eastern Spain.
A middle-aged man died on Friday in Almeria after his car was trapped in a tunnel that flooded within minutes, local emergency services said.
Hours later, an emergency services helicopter spotted the body of a 36-year-old man in the region of Andalusia. He had been reported missing after the flooding, a local emergency services spokeswoman said.
A 61-year-old man and his 51-year-old sister died on Thursday when their vehicle was swept away as fast-moving waters swamped a road in Caudete, a municipality about 100 kilometres (60 miles) southwest of the port city of Valencia.
Residents of the Spanish town of Orihuela were stranded on Thursday after floods, caused by torrential rains, swept cars away and blocked roads. Schools in the neighbouring Murcia region suspended classes, expecting the heavy rains to continue.
In the village of Gaianes, 491mm rainfall was reported over the last three days - more than 350mm of that fell in the last 24 hours.
The Clariano River left its banks through the town of Otinyent due to 300mm rainfall within 24 hours.
The well-known coastal holiday resort of Benidorm, on the Costa Blanca, presented its visitors and residents with a miserable 24 hours during which it recorded 135mm rainfall. This was accompanied by a howling northeasterly wind. Those on the island of Ibiza woke up on Friday morning to a severe gale from the northeast.
This windy and extremely wet weather is a result of the first autumn low pressure developing in the western Mediterranean.
Flooding has been reported in northern Algeria and on the Balearic Islands of Ibiza from the same system but the provinces on mainland Spain of Alicante, Valencia and eastern Castilla-La Mancha have been worst hit.
Severe weather warnings continued on Friday for much of eastern Spain, especially the regions of Murcia and Valencia and the island of Mallorca. The persistent heavy rain moved away but severe thunderstorms hit Ibiza, the Costa Brava and other parts of southern Spain.
On Friday, thunderstorms dropped 100mm rain over Almeria.
The weekend will see more thunderstorms develop inland but decrease in intensity. However, the strong wind will continue over the Balearic Islands and onto the east coast.

Diving the Costa Brava and the Medes Islands, caves, octopus, grouper and so much more.
A compilation of footage from a week long trip to the Costa Brava, diving in and around the Bay of Roses and the Medes Islands. A superb trip with caverns, caves, beautiful reefs and lots and lots of fish. A real revelation for the Mediterranean. Diving with Fleetdive - see fleetdive.com a great concept where you get the boat and accommodation and can dive where you like and remain in total charge of your diving. Great for dive clubs. Video footage is a mix of video shot my me and mixed in with some footage shot by Dan Lloyd. Music credits go to Tony Anderson (Breakthrough) as used on the Costa Brava Tourist Association video.

Beautiful places of Barcelona 2017 Travel to Catalonia, Spain
1) The #Arc de #Triomf or #Arco de #Triunfo in #Spanish, is a triumphal arch in the city of #Barcelona in #Catalonia, #Spain. It was built, by architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas, as the main access gate for the 1888 Barcelona World Fair. The arch crosses over the wide central promenade of the Passeig de Lluís Companys, leading to the Ciutadella Park that now occupies the site of the world fair. It is located at the northern end of the promenade, facing the Passeig de Sant Joan.
The arch is built in reddish brickwork in the Neo-Mudéjar style. The front frieze contains the stone sculpture Barcelona rep les nacions (Catalan for Barcelona welcomes the nations) by Josep Reynés. The opposite frieze contains a stone carving entitled Recompensa (Recompense), a work from Josep Llimona's earliest period, representing the granting of awards to the participants in the World Exposition. The friezes along the sides of the arch include allegories of agriculture and industry by Antoni Vilanova and of trade and art by Torquat Tassó.
Similar structures can be found in many other cities, most notably including the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the Wellington Arch in London, the Soldiers' and Sailors' Arch in New York City, and the Arcul de Triumf in Bucharest.
2) The #Parc de la #Ciutadella Citadel Park is a park on the northeastern edge of Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Catalonia. For decades following its creation in the mid-19th century, this park was the city's only green space. The 70-acre (280,000 m2) grounds include the city zoo (once home to the albino gorilla Snowflake, who died in 2004), the Parliament of Catalonia, a small lake, museums, and a large fountain designed by Josep Fontserè (with possible contributions by the young Antoni Gaudí).
3) Citadel
Map of the military compound of Ciutadella
In 1714, during the War of the Spanish Succession, Barcelona was laid siege for 13 months by the army of Philip V of Spain. The city fell, and in order to maintain control over it, and to prevent the Catalans from rebelling as they had in the previous century, Philip V built the citadel of Barcelona, at that time the largest fortress in Europe.
A substantial part of the district it was constructed in (La Ribera) was destroyed to obtain the necessary space, leaving its inhabitants homeless. The fortress was characterized by having five corners, which gave the citadel defensive power, and by a rather wide surrounding margin, serving as location for the army's cannons. It included enough buildings to house 8,000 people.
Hundreds of Catalans were forced to work on the construction for three years, while the rest of the city provided financial backing for this and for warfare-related expenses as well, with a new tax named el cadestre. Three decades later a quarter was rebuilt around the fortress named Barceloneta, which is located inside the neighborhood Ciutat Vella.
4) #Cascada
Quadriga de l'Aurora on the top of the Font de la cascada
The #lake in the #Parc de la #Ciutadella
The Cascada (waterfall or cascade in Spanish) is located at the northern corner of the park opposite to the lake. It was first inaugurated in 1881 without sculptures or any meticulous details, and was thereby criticized by the press, after which this triumphal arch was thoroughly amended by the addition of a fountain and some minor attributes, which required six years of construction from 1882 to 1888, and was thenceforth put on display at the Universal Exhibition, and hitherto not been redesigned. It was erected by Josep Fontsére and to a small extent by Antoni Gaudí, who at that time was still an unknown student of architecture. Fontsére aimed to loosely make it bear resemblance to the Trevi Fountain of Rome. Two enormous pincers of gigantic crabs serve as stairs to access a small podium located in the centre of the monument. In front of it a sculpture (designed by Venanci Vallmitjana) of Venus standing on an open clam was placed. The whole cascade is divided in two levels. From the podium on a path leads to the Feminine Sculpture and to the northeastern corner of the park, and upon following the route down the stairs the fountain's pond is rounded and the southern tip of the artifact is reached.
