La Paz Baja Mexico
La Paz was quite eventful for us!
We had lots of team building activities.
Camp was beautiful and the owner is an accomplished woman with a story that I was in awe of.
A couple of surron rides with me performing accidental stunts on one of those rides.
Tensions got high and frustrations mounted in high traffic when google maps sent us in circles.
We are a stronger team and I am a better rider because of our time in La Paz.
Star Princess cruise vlog Day 5 - La Paz
Hi Cruisers, it is time for Star Princess cruise vlog Day 5 - To see all this cruise travel diary from day 1 check out our playlist here:
Join us, guided by Red Travel Mexico in La Paz, BCS on a day trip excursion to snorkel with whale sharks, soak up Balandra Bay, and marvel at the Sea of Cortez. Our plan was to visit Isla Espiritu Santo, but the wind picked up, and we changed plans. We started by navigating to area where whale sharks congregate, seasonally from about November to March. We plunged in to the ocean and before we knew it, we were feet from these giant creatures that tip their bodies upward to feed. Nothing can prepare you for swimming whale sharks in Mexico. It's an adrenaline rush, despite their gentle nature when you get alongside them it's breathtaking. After our whale shark experience, we visited a sea lion colony and a colony of blue-footed booby (boobies), which can also be found in the Galapagos. Finally, we explored the Bay in search of a beach to roam and enjoy lunch. We chose one of the 7 beaches at Balandra Bay, and were totally alone most of the time. Our guide, Mario prepared fresh ceviche, fruit and we ate yards from the sea. We roamed the beach, spotted seashells, and ran down the sand dunes until it was time to return to our home for 10 days, the Star Princess. Special thanks to Red Travel Mexico for making our Baja adventure unforgettable. Stick with us and you'll see more of our itinerary on our Star Princess 2016 Mexico cruise. We hit San Diego, the sea of Cortes, La Paz, Loreto, Puerto Vallarta, and of course see the beautiful coast of Baja California.

The MOST BEAUTIFUL place in Mexico
We've traveled all over Mexico but Bacalar, a Pueblo Mágico, might be the most beautiful place we've seen yet!
►Learn Spanish like us:
It was basically love at first sight when we arrived in Bacalar. The lagoon of 7 colors stole our hearts immediately. The crystal clear waters of Bacalar Lagoon were so beautiful and refreshing. We spent 5 days in this Pueblo Mágico at an Airbnb right on the lagoon. Although it wasn't ideal to share an outdoor bathroom and shower here, we loved having direct access to the lagoon. We went kayaking any chance we got—Laska even came too and she had the time of her life!
During our stay in Bacalar, we also found some incredible food at local restaurants, took a sunrise paddleboarding tour, and went to the Fort of San Felipe. There's not a whole lot going on in the town of Bacalar, but that didn't bother us. We could hardly keep ourselves from swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding on the lagoon.
------OUR MINI GUIDE TO BACALAR, QUINTANA ROO------
WHERE TO STAY IN BACALAR
1. You will likely find the most affordable rental options on Airbnb. If you're new to Airbnb, you can save $40 when you sign up with our link. We'll get a $20 credit.
WHERE TO EAT IN BACALAR
1. La Playita - this restaurant sits right on Bacalar Lagoon. You can sit under the canopy of the giant tree on the property at one of the many tables with a view of the waters. The food and drinks are incredible! You can also snap some pictures out on the dock. It's especially pretty at sunset.
2. La Piña - This restaurant was our go-to spot for breakfast. They make some flavor-packed breakfast dishes that are crave-worthy! We recommend trying one their Smoothies Borrachos which have perfect combinations of fruit and a bit of liquor.
3. Mango & Chile - You'll find this restaurant right next to the Fort of San Felipe near the center of town. They make some great lattes and have allergy-friendly options.
4. El Manatí - We enjoyed eating our breakfast here because they have a lush outdoor garden area. The coffee was very tasty, too!
WHAT TO DO IN BACALAR
1. Sunrise Paddle Boarding - We had an unforgettable time on Antonio's tour. He took us out before the sun came up so we could see it rise over the lagoon. Later on, we got to see Cenote Esmerelda and Cenote Negro. Before going back, we enjoyed some snacks while floating on our paddle boards in shallow lagoon waters. It was an all-around 5-star experience. Book his tour here:
2. Kayaking - You can rent kayaks all over the lagoon and it's a great way to explore more of the lagoon. It's so different depending on where you are!
3. See cenotes - If you don't take Antonio's tour (above) we think it's worthwhile to see the two cenotes that are in (yes, IN) Bacalar Lagoon. Before this, we'd never experienced anything like that before.
4. Visit the Fort of San Felipe - Located near the town center, the fort was used to watch for pirates that tried to invade Bacalar many years ago. It costs ~100 pesos for foreigners and 50 pesos for Mexicans.
5. There are SO many more things to do in Bacalar that we didn't get to experience since we only had 5 days there. We recommend going out and exploring some on your own to find other things you'd enjoy doing.

Fishing FRENZY on the Sea of Cortez | La Paz, Baja California Sur
In this video you will see what to expect on a fishing tour on the Sea of Cortez in Baja California Sur, Mexico. We booked our charter with Tailhunter International Sportfishing in La Paz and our captain did not disappoint! We were out on the water just before sunrise and once our fishing poles were in the warm Sea of Cortez water, the fish started biting nonstop. We caught at least 7 types of fish including: Dorado(mahi mahi), Sea Bass, Snapper, Bonito, Trumpet Fish, and countless Needlefish. Don’t miss the opportunity to fish the Sea of Cortez in Baja California Sur, Mexico - totally worth it!
