Warburton Redwood Forest, Victoria, Australia - A Day Trip From Melbourne
About one and half hours drive from Melbourne is the Warburton Redwood Forest at Cement Creek. It is one of two Redwood, or Sequoia, Forests in Australia. Both are within 3 hours drive of Melbourne however this one is the closest. This plantation of redwoods is to the east of Melbourne in the beautiful Yarra Ranges - the source of the Yarra River - and just a few kilometres outside of the lovely little town of Warburton.
The redwood forest is an easy day trip from Melbourne. Families will love running between the giant trees and checking out the huge bird nests. Apparently it has become a thing to twist branches into giant nests. There couldn't really be birds here this size could there? :)
Mount Donna Buang isn't far away and is the closest snow play area to Melbourne.

Melbourne has many hidden gems surrounding it beautiful city! my friend Richmond and i decided to explore one of them, and found ouselves in Warburton, where there is a spectacular Redwood forest. i took with me my sony a7III and we explored the forest taking photos and video!

A day of family fun at Redwood Forest near Warburton in Victoria, Australia. A traditional English style forest in the heart of Australia.
Redwood Forest, Warburton - A Brief Visual Tour (Victoria, Australia)
One of the most visited tourist spots in Melbourne these days, the Redwood Forest is located just past East Warburton in Victoria, approximately 1.2 hours from Melbourne's CBD. A great place for a walk and can keep walking on the various bush tracks further out from the Redwood so you get a true Australian Bush experience on top of checking out the Californian Redwood. A mysterious place consisting of over 50 year old Redwood trees. When we were there the tree canopy was full of fruit bats which you can hear in parts of the video.
Well worth checking out but be advised that it gets very busy, the car park is large but still find cars parked well back down the road at peak times so it is suggested you visit in the mornings until 11 or after 3pm in the afternoon.

Redwood Forest near Warburton, Victoria, Australia
These are beautiful trees but certainly look out of place in the Australian bush!
This is a plantation of Sequioa sempervirens (Californian Redwood) and is classified by the National Trust.They were planted in the 1930's. There were additional plantings of Radiata Pine, Western Red Cedar and Redwood from 1960-63 as part of a research program by the Board of Works.
To get there: Travel through Warburton in the direction away from Melbourne and continue until the Warburton Highway becomes Woods Point Road. After about 7 kms look for Cement Creek Road on the left and drive up there about 700 metres and you will find it.

Warburton Redwood forest is located 2 hours away from Melbourne. This is such a cool place with Redwood trees. These trees were planted in 1930s , the forest consists of 1,450 Californian Redwoods. They are around 55ft tall. Tried flying the drone inside the Forest. The Park ranger at warburton redwood forest didn't look very happy about it.
I used sony sigma a6500 for this video along with sigma 16mm lens. It is one of the best setup for vlogging.

See this amazing Californian Redwood tree plantation located just out of Warburton in Victoria Australia. There are Over one thousand 55m high trees which were planted in rows in the 1930's.
Follow the Warburton Highway until it becomes Woods Point Road. After about 7 km, look for Cement Creek Road on the left. This is unsealed and a little rough in places, but 0.7 km along you will find a small parking area on the right along a fenceline and small gate barrier. Walk through the barrier and there you are! Some great photo opportunities here.
You can also walk through the plantation to the river where there are walking tracks each way.

Mount Donna Buang is famous for tobogganing when it has snowed, but we got there too early, so we found other things to do!
A hike along Mt Victoria Trail, a climb to the top of the observation tower, and a stroll through the incredible rainforest gallery are just a few of the ways you can explore Mount Donna Buang in Victoria's Yarra Ranges. We check out these iconic locations as well as a stroll along the Yarra river in Warburton, and a whimsical stroll through the Warburton Redwood Forest!
