Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, Limón Province, Costa Rica
Clear water, coconut palms, great surf and a laid-back Caribbean atmosphere make Puerto Viejo a favorite among travelers. Located on the Caribbean Coast, about an hour south of Limon, Puerto Viejo is the center of activity between the smaller villages of Cahuita and Manzanillo. The relaxed, seaside town is framed by jungle, turquoise seas, banana plantations and scenic rivers. With its blend of Afro-Caribbean descendants, expat Europeans and indigenous Costa Ricans, Puerto Viejo charms visitors with a unique mix of people and cultures. Rastafari culture has a firm foothold in the town, and many Rastas sell handmade jewelry and other wares along the town’s vibrant roadside.

Want to know how to get from Bocas del Toro Panama, to Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica? Follow along with us and we will show you just how easy it is to do!
Puerto Viejo is a beautiful, small town in southeastern Costa Rica. If you are looking for a perfect beach, where you can unwind and relax, sipping on an exotic cocktail and enjoying spicy Caribbean food, Puerto Viejo is definitely the place you should check out.
The average high temperature here is 27-28 C, while the average low is 22-23 C. However, you can expect humid weather at times because you’ll be surrounded by the rainforests, right next to the Carribean sea.
Probably the most popular tourist attraction in Puerto Viejo is the Jaguar Rescue Center. This amazing institution is the temporary or permanent home for injured, ill, and orphaned animals. They provide veterinary services with a focus on sloths, small primates, reptiles, birds, and amphibians.

Whether you are walking, biking, or driving it will not take you long to check out the whole area. Carribean All Adventure Tour
Day 1
This incredible journey into culture, adventure, and breathtaking vistas begins the moment we leave from San Jose. As we journey to the Caribbean Coast you will be instantly transported into a different world; far from the daily headaches, stress, and worries and into the lush tropical rainforests of the Braulio Carrillo National Park. This exquisite journey will help you get all your senses alerted to the incredible landscapes and immense biodiversity you can expect to see on your 3 day adventure. Your first stop will be at a very unique and private reserve called Rio Danta (Tapir) where a delicious Costa Rican breakfast will be served; after which, your travels continue through banana plantations, ornamental plant spreads and Passion fruit and pineapple farms to arrive to Jungle Breeze private reserve.
This will be an adventure you can feel good about, because we actively promote sustainable, socially responsible tourism practices by choosing a Costa Rican family owned and operated reserve. The Jungle Breeze offers you a special way to promote sustainability just by appreciating the beauty and harmony on your 2-hour hike. You can expect to see bullet ants, toucans, sloths, monkeys, and the poison dart frogs. A delicious Costa Rican meal of the area will be served.
We continue, to the selected hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner included
(an optional kayak tour or A river safari tour is available)

We will arrive at the Cabecar Indigenous Reserve, where you will go on a three-hour tubing tour on the Estrella River (class II and class III rapids). This is a fun and exciting way to get deep inside the reserve and reach the most remote and exotic spots. At the conclusion of your tour you will be greeted with another delicious Costa Rican meal. We will spend the afternoon relaxing on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean, Cahuita National Park. What makes this beach and its waters so incredible, are it white sand beaches and crystal clear water. This is an ideal beach to snorkel, swim, or just sleep under a palm tree. Late afternoon time to enjoy the local ambiance of the town of Cahuita

Punta Uva Adventure - Costa Rica Caribbean Coast
We took an awesome 9-day trip to Costa Rica's Caribbean coast at Punta Uva. Total cost = $580. Not too shabby! Punta Uva is known to be one of the best beaches for gorgeous, relaxed family getaways.
We're just a normally family that decided to quit our jobs and move to Costa Rica in September of 2012. We thought life might have more to offer than a career and a house, so we went looking for it. Our goal is to find rich life fulfillment in adventure, service, learning, and love.

Kicking back on a hammock in Puerto Viejo
Located in Limon province on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca is a beach lover’s paradise. Here amidst the exotic flora and fauna, lies a vibrant seaside town with gorgeous beaches, crystal clear blue waters, and some of the most amazing surfing opportunities. Fast becoming one of Costa Rica’s premier tourist hot spots, many international surfers come here from all over the world to ride the famed Salsa Brava waves, making this Caribbean influenced town is a ‘must visit’ place when in Limon.
Simply known as Puerto Viejo by the locals and not to be confused with Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui in Heredia, this bustling town lies 34 miles south east of Puerto Limon, and 10.2 miles south of Cahuita. Formerly a quiet little fishing village, Puerto Viejo has a charm that is all its own. Becoming increasingly popular, especially with the young hip crowd, this town is among the top rated surfing destinations of the world. With its relaxed atmosphere and its own unique blend of Latino, Afro-Caribbean and Bribri indigenous cultures, Puerto Viejo is a lively place to have a fun relaxing vacation.
Famous for its fabulous beaches, Puerto Viejo’s Salsa Brave beach is a surfer’s paradise. However, be warned of the waters here that have a strong rip current. So, swimming is not advisable. This beach is for surfing experts only. Aside from surfing, one can also indulge in horseback tours of the area, as well as snorkeling, diving, mountain biking, kayaking or boogie boarding. Whether you are looking forward to having a good time or just a laidback retreat, the shores of Puerto Viejo are a great place to kick back and soak in the sun.

Cahuita's beaches, town, and flavor - Costa Rica
Hey friends!
This video is the end of our Cahuita series. In this video I show you the town of Cahuita the beaches, a little bit of the nightlife, and I recommend my favorite places to stay. This little reggae town is one of my favorite places in the world for it's small size, beautiful beaches, lovely food and people, and wildlife. As one expat who lives there said, Why would I leave? I live in paradise. A definite must see if you are into the relaxing side of visiting the country. Don't miss my other videos of Cahuita: the National Park, snorkeling, and cooking at Miss Edith's authentic Caribbean restaurant!
