Join the Kootenay EV Family on another EVenture in the beautiful west Kootenay region of British Columbia. In this video, we drive along Kootenay Lake to Kaslo, then over the pass to New Denver, and back to Nelson along Slocan Lake and through the idyllic Slocan Valley. Lots of great scenery and some of the local attractions.
An electric vehicle is the perfect way to experience our area - the smooth ride and quiet vehicle allows you to float along through the scenery and really ENJOY the drive!

A snowboarder died of suffocation while snowboarding on a mountain in southeastern B.C. She had been staying near the town of Kaslo at the Retallack Lodge, which has no groomed ski or snowboard runs and specializes in cat skiing. The activity involves being taken up a mountainside on a treaded vehicle called a snowcat and then boarding down the slopes on fresh snow.

The Ultimate Backcountry Ski Experience - Powder Creek Lodge VLOG #3
Powder Creek Lodge is a private backcountry skiing lodge located between the Purcell and Selkirk Mountain ranges in British Columbia, Canada. To access the lodge we took a 20 minute helicopter ride from Kaslo, BC.

The lodge is fully powered from solar and hydro power around the lodge and has satellite wifi.
The skiing terrain is out of this world for ski touring and split boarding. With endless peaks surrounding the lodge you can stay in this valley for weeks and never ski the same line twice. The main lodge is 3 stories with 6 large rooms and a common area and kitchen on the main floor.
I could not give the experience a higher rating. It was AMAZING. The terrain, the snow conditions, and the lodge itself is well maintained by two passionate, down to earth owners. It's truly an experience that you simply must have if you are a ski touring enthusiast.

Reco Peak to Cody, BC
This is just a long unedited video of the trail from Reco Peak (starting at the highest switchback) to Cody, to show the trail condition. It's sped up 4 times. This side can be easily done by stock Jeep or the like, but I would not recommend a full size vehicle. The back side (Retallack to Reco Peak) is much rougher. Just above Jackson Mine the trail gets very rough. I made it in a stock Suzuki Samurai only because it is so narrow. ATV will make it. Video made early August, 2012.
Rico Mountain
Sandon ghost town up Rico Mountain, then down the other side, stopping at a mine, then down into Retallack ghost town, along the wagon road to the lake, then up to London Ridge (other video), then the old K&S (Kaslo-Sandon) railway, then up the wagon trail to the mine below the summit of Rico Mountain, then down the wagon trail and old K&S rail bed back into Sandon. A giant loop, taking all day to do it. Magnificent scenery (except for the bug on the gopro).
