worlds longest passenger train
Ghan’s travel and the train’s specification announcement too the passenger's as you see the train passing in its full length.
The Ghan - the worlds longest passenger train at almost one kilometre long. The Ghan passenger Train gets it name from the men who in the 1800 s moved freight from the southern coast of Australia through the hot dry Barron centre of Australia before the coming of the railway, as the countryside was too dry for horses they imported Camels from countries like Afghanistan and the men who drove them hence the nickname the Ghan. The Ghan travels from the city of Adelaide on the southern coast of Australia and ends in the northern city of Darwin some 3000 kilometres one way. The Ghan is that long they break it into two half’s and bring it into two separate platforms next to each other.- I was Trucking from the 1970 s to 2000 s most of the time at Richmond Towing, they did the full range of towing form minis to Mack’s Richmond’s did a lot of the big semi tractor trailers Accidents rollovers in the state of South Australia that was before the big interstate companies moved into South Australia I bought one of there little tow trucks and run as a owner I am retired now but I sill drop in all the time to see what’s going on. Bob & Wendy who are the owners of Richmond heavy Towing have let me use the photos that were hanging around the office that people took of the jobs that Richmond have done over the years and also there are my own photos I took working there for many years. After many years of driving all types of Richmond Towing’s trucks and I was getting older and slower so I bought one of Richmond’s little tow truck and run as a owner/driver, I did most of the night tows to give the other drivers a break. Most towing company’s all the drivers work day and do callouts at night 24/7 when I retired my tow that I had spent way to much money on making it my pride and joy, I knew I would never get the money it was worth so I donated to the National Road Transport Hall of Fame in Alice Springs. - I have done is set-up my own blog they call it. So I have posted hundreds of photos I have taken over my 30 years or so driving trucks, and also with the permission of Bob & Wendy who own Richmond Heavy Towing in Adelaide who let me go through their offices at Richmond’s and scan all the photos hanging around taken by many different people that have worked there over the years. I have spent a lot of time writing text to explain every photo to you. The good thing about a blog is you don’t have too be a member to view it and to comment if you want too, I bet all the people that don’t like me will get on there just to leave nasty comments about me. Just to be fair I have also posted about the not so good part of my life which was my murder trial here in Adelaide where I shot a armed robber at a service station and although I had a firearms licence and the handgun was register to me I was a truck driver with a firearm so the head of the DPP was told by the Attorney General to charge me with murder. I have posted public documents and Newspaper story about my murder trial its not like you see on the TV shows.

Kehinde Wiley's monumental sculpture, 'Rumors of War' is unveiled in Times Square
(28 Sep 2019) KEHINDE WILEY SCULPTURE UNVEILED IN TIMES SQUARE
A public sculpture whose permanent home will be in Richmond, Virginia made its debut in New York's Times Square on Friday (27SEPT.2019).
Kehinde Wiley's Rumors of War is the artist's monumental response to the numerous sculptures found in the United States, particularly in the South, that memorialize the Civil War Confederacy.
The sculpture, which is Wiley's first public work, and his largest work to date, shows a young African-American sitting astride a horse.
Wiley described it as a call to arms for inclusivity.
It's not about blackness, it's not about whiteness. It's about the co-evolution of societies and culture and what you're looking at is us in full measure.
The mayor of Richmond, Levar Stoney, spoke at the unveiling of the sculpture. In Richmond we have 10 Confederate monuments in our city. Confederate monuments to the Lost Cause. I think that is 10 too many. Now thanks to Kehinde we will have this beautiful monument right here on Arthur Ashe Boulevard, a monument that speaks emphatically to a new, worthy cause, he said.
Rumors of War will remain on view in Times Square until Dec. 1, when it will be moved to Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

Statue Of Blackman On HorseBack speak back' to people looking at Confederate monuments in the city
Statue Of Blackman On HorseBack speak back' to people looking at Confederate monuments in the city.A statue of a young black man in a hoodie on horseback has been permanently installed just blocks away from a row of Confederate monuments in Richmond, Virginia.
More than 1,000 people filled up the lawn at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts as 'Rumors of War' found its new home Tuesday, next to the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
It's a 27-foot high bronze structure mounted on a large stone pedestal by artist Kehinde Wiley, who said he was inspired to create the work after seeing the statue of Confederate General Jeb Stuart nearby.
I saw a spectacle that felt dreadful. I mean, it almost felt like it was designed to be menacing,' Wiley told CBS This Morning.
'To be in a black body walking through the streets of Richmond and to see something that signifies the enslavement of your people, that's a little bit more heavy duty,' Wiley added.
Creating the work of art in response to General Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, others, Wiley, 42, said, 'I want my statue to be speaking back to the people looking at those statues.'
Wiley is famous for painting President Obama's portrait in 2018 for the National Portrait Gallery.
His new sculpture debuted this fall at the Crossroads of the World.

Very Old Farm Machinery In Operation
Both of my parents were involved with agriculture and I grew up listening to their stories of how things used to get done. At The Rock River Thresheree I could actually see some of those things with my own eyes! I recorded some clips of some really old gas tractors pulling an array of harvest gear, and I also caught a bunch of clips showing how steam tractors can plow a large field. Please enjoy this living history!
(The Rock River Thresheree has been an annual; event since 1956. I would describe the Thresheree as a type of living history museum where an incredible amount of exhibits are often portable and interactive. Steam machinery that could easily be one hundred years old is seen throughout the large fairgrounhds which are located just south of Edgerton Wisconsin. There is an emphasis on agtriculture as seen by the large quantity of decades old farm tractors but there are also harvesting machines and many smaller engines. Other sights include the working steam train; The Rock River Cannonball, a sawmill powered by a steam tractor, and several large sheds that house incredibly huge stationary engines. Historic re-enactors host battle re-enactments and the occasional train robbery. However, the most dominant exhibit is probably the steam pile driver. When that machine is running everyone in the area can hear and feel it! I have been to the Thresheree many times uin the last fifty years and I would say that it is a worthwhile trip and will be enjoyed by all!)

The story of John Horse and the Black Seminoles has been largely untold, but they deserve to be remembered for a number of reasons:
- They created the largest haven in the U.S. South for runaway slaves.
- They led the largest slave revolt in U.S. history.
- They secured the only emancipation of rebellious slaves prior to the U.S. Civil War.
- The formed the largest mass exodus of slaves across the United States and, ultimately, to Mexico.

Statue of black man defies Confederate monuments
(11 Dec 2019) A massive bronze sculpture of a young black man in a hoodie astride a horse was permanently installed Tuesday in Virginia's capital city, not far from one of the country's most prominent displays of Confederate monuments.
At least 1,000 people crowded the lawn of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts as Rumors of War was unveiled in its new home.
The piece, the first public sculpture by prominent artist Kehinde Wiley and Wiley's largest work to date, was previously on display in Times Square.
Rumors of War is Wiley's response to the Confederate monuments that pepper the United States and the South in particular.
Wiley is well known for his regal portraits of black Americans, including one of former President Barack Obama that's displayed at the National Portrait Gallery.
He said he was inspired to create Rumors of War after seeing a massive equestrian monument honoring Confederate Gen. J.E.B. Stuart during a visit to Richmond in 2016.
The Stuart monument is one of five giant Confederate statues that dot Monument Avenue, a prestigious residential street and National Historic Landmark district.
Both the Stuart statue and Rumors of War feature regal, muscular horses in virtually the same pose, with one front leg lifted.
Mounted on a large stone pedestal, Wiley's sculpture is just blocks away from Monument Avenue.
It is prominently displayed along the city's historic Arthur Ashe Boulevard, a thoroughfare renamed in honor of the black tennis great earlier this year.
It sits next to the headquarters of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Tuesday's installation came amid an ongoing debate in Richmond about what do with its Confederate monuments and how its history as the capital of the Confederacy and an epicenter of the international slave trade should be told.

George Old Motor Show Engines 2014
Some restored old engines of yesteryear at the George Old Car Show. One day when EMP bombs and nuclear war has destroyed everything electronic these will be the only engines that will still be running. I grew up with Lister engines. We still have two of them - and I'm pretty sure that if you swing them they'll still start.
