A scence I met while walking around Helsinki and The Finnish Glass Museum ( Riihimäki )
A town that feels simple and solid, cozy city.
I was moved by the ''Glass Design From Finland'' Exhibition at the Suntory Museum ( Tokyo,Japan )
in Dec.2012.
I came to Helsinki to see the work again.
The Finnish Glass Museum is a bit in the suburbs , but in a very idyllic Finnish place.
Specious and rustic building.

Lasikomppania -- Glass Artists of Nuutajärvi
Nuutajärven Lasikomppania -- the Nuutajärvi Glass Company -- also known as Nuutajärven Lasitaitajat, is an association founded in 2004 that maintains glassmaking facilities including furnaces at Nuutajärvi. Its members, who use this working environment, are glass artists, designers and glassblowers, leading names of new Finnish glass art. On show at the Finnish Glass Museum are works in small editions, unique art glass and installations by sixteen members of the association, and demonstrations of skill by residence programme artists from abroad.

Timo Sarpaneva - Finnish Glass Art - from Abstracta-Art
Timo Sarpaneva (1926-2006) was another of Finland's design greats. He worked at Iittala alongside Tapio Wirkkala, but always managed to create a unique language. His work in glass was particularly important; however, he also worked in ceramics, graphics, fabrics and metal. Sarpaneva created many unique shapes in glass, and often used the inventive technique of stick blowing or steam blowing as a part of the process. Stick blowing uses a water-soaked, wooden stick to create a cavity in molten glass by ramming the stick quickly into the glass melt, generating steam, which forms the cavity.
Sarpaneva began creating designs for Iittala in 1949. In 1954 he was awarded the first of many Milan Triennale grand prizes and medals. He received the Lunning Prize in 1956. His significant designs in glass included the Devil's Series, Orkidea, Lancet and many other unique forms that suggest sculpture.

Alvar Aalto – taide ja moderni muoto -näyttely Ateneumin taidemuseossa
Alvar Aalto (1898–1976) on Suomen kansainvälisesti tunnetuin arkkitehti ja muotoilija. Alvar Aalto – taide ja moderni muoto -näyttely havainnollistaa, miten Aallon orgaaninen muotokieli kehittyi vuorovaikutuksessa ajan kuvataiteilijoiden kanssa.
