PELLING - West Sikkim (Khecheopalri Lake - Kanchenjunga Falls - Pemayangtse Monastery)
Pelling, a beautiful town in the West district of Sikkim. The Himalayas and the Kanchenjanga may be viewed at close quarters from Pelling. Pelling also forms the base from where trekkers and other peripatetic adventurers undertake the strenuous and arduous treks in West Sikkim. The land around Pelling is still a virgin territory and is bathed with alpine vegetation, with numerous waterfalls lining the hillside.
Khecheopalri Lake - Khecheopalri Lake, originally known as Kha-Chot-Palri is a lake located near Khecheopalri village. Considered holy by Buddhists as well as Hindus, this lake is thronged by devotees from around the world. The lake of Khecheopalri lies about 24 km from Pemayangtse Monastery. When seen from an elevated point, this lake looks like the foot mark of Lord Shiva.
Kanchenjunga Falls - The kanchenjunga falls is one of the best falls of Sikkim. The Kanchenjunga Falls is a leading tourist spot in Pelling and is attractive throughout the year with its lush green surroundings and the high falling water flow. It is believed that the pristine waterfall originates high up in the glaciers of Mount Kanchenjunga.
Pemayangtse Monastery - The Pemayangtse monastery is situated near the town of Pelling, one of the oldest and the most important monasteries of Sikkim. Built in the year 1705, the monastery belongs to the Nyingmapa sect of Mahayana Buddhism and it was founded by Gyalwa Lhatsum Chempo, one of the three lamas to have performed the Consecration Ceremony of the first Chogyal (King) Phuntsog Namgyal at Yuksam in 1642.

Kanchenjunga Waterfalls, Pelling - Places to visit in Sikkim West
Kanchenjunga Waterfalls is a perennial waterfall near Pelling in the state of Sikkim, India. This video was recorded in April 2016 during our visit to Sikkim. The main waterfall is slightly interior to the road and another twin stream is closer to the road. Kanchenjunga Waterfalls is also spelled as Khangchendzonga Waterfalls. It is located around 28 km from Pelling. It is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in West Sikkim. Topjor Bhutia, a local tour operator from Pelling discovered this falls during mid 90’s. It is one of the leading tourist spots in West Sikkim. The vigorous and imposing water cascading down granite rocks is truly a mesmerizing sight. This waterfall is active all year round. Watch the water falling about 100 ft deep with roaring sound. Steps to reach near the waterfalls are there. It is a pristine place to cherish the beauty of nature. It is one of the Places to visit in west Sikkim.
About 18kms further than Rimbi and 5kms before Yuksam is Kanchenjunga Waterfalls which is situated at a sharp curve on the road side. The waterfalls is not easily seen from the road as it is hidden.
Pelling is nestled at an altitude of 2,150 m (7,200 feet). The land around Pelling is still a virgin territory and is bathed with alpine vegetation, with numerous waterfalls lining the hillside. In the months of winter, Pelling is sometimes covered with a blanket of snow. Pelling is a small town in the state of Sikkim in the West Sikkim region.
Pelling is 115 km from the state capital Gangtok and about 135 km from Siliguri, the nearest railhead and airport. Regular jeeps connect Pelling to the towns of Jorethang, Kalimpong and Namchi. The nearest airport is Bagdogra airport.

Rimbi Waterfalls Pelling;
At a distance of 5 km from Darap Village and 12 km from Pelling, Rimbi Waterfalls is a scenic waterfall near Pelling. Situated near Darap Village, it is one of the famous waterfalls in Pelling and among the best places of sightseeing in Pelling.
On the way to Khecheopalri Lake and Yuksam, Rimbi waterfall is formed over Rimbi River. During summer, the waterfall looks spectacular which attracts many tourists. Located close to the waterfall is one of the oldest hydro power stations in Sikkim. Established in the early 70's, this power station is the source of energy for most of the villa towns of West Sikkim including Gayzing, Tigjuck and Pelling.
The waterfall turns into Rimbi River, which is frequented by locals and tourists for various recreational activities like swimming and fishing. Whether you go fishing or not, do try a local preparation of Assala - a variety of fish found only here. It is also the best place to spend some memorable moments with your loved ones amidst nature. All the tourists stop over here for some time while going to Kanchenjunga Waterfalls.
Both summer and winter are perfect for enjoying Rimbi. It is during monsoon, that the water flow is heavy and is suggested that not to venture into the fall.
Sky Walk Pelling;
Pelling is a small hill town located in western Sikkim which never stops amazing tourists with its natural beauty and memerizing views. Now with the addition of Fourth tallest statue and India’s First Glass Sky Walk, it has attracted a lot of tourists lately.
If you are wondering what glass Skywalk is…
The Sky Walk is a transparent structure made of glass. It is located adjacent to the giant Chenrezig statue. “Chenrezig” is a manifestation of all the Buddha’s compassion. His name means “One Who Looks with an Unwavering Eye.”
Pelling Sky Walk and Chenrezig Statue is a newly built tourist attraction near Sanga Choeling which is the gigantic 137 feet statue of Chenrezig (Avalokitesvara) and a transparent Sky Walk made of glass that leads to the statue. It was opened in November 2018.
Khecheopalri Lake;
Located at an altitude of 1700 m above sea level, Khecheopalri Lake is a sacred place for both Buddhists and Hindus which is a part of the famous Buddhist pilgrimage circuit. It is situated in the Khecheopalri Village in the West Sikkim district. The name of the lake, Khecheopalri, was originally known as, ?Kha-Chot-Palri?, which refers to the heaven of Lord Padmasambhava. Popularly considered as a ?wish fulfilling lake?, many people visit it from around the globe in the hope of getting their wishes fulfilled.
