Many of the beach towns along the Riviera Maya, Cancun, Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, the food can be very expensive. It's very touristy, and with tourist destinations, comes tourist prices.
After speaking with many of the locals they had some great recommendations. We decided to tour the LOCAL side of Puerto Morelos, known as the Colonia side, to try some of the BEST and most DELICIOUS Street food in town.. We ate all day, and for a full day of eating we spent less than $50 and that included taxis, food and drinks. These places did NOT disappoint and had some amazing street food including the traditional Yucatan cochinita pibil.

Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico:
My wife Ying and I, and our baby Micah, traveled to Mexico with my friend Carlos and his family. I met Carlos many years ago in University in Phoenix, Arizona, and he’s originally from Sonora, in Northern Mexico. Throughout University, Carlos and I would eat Mexican food non-stop, and we dreamed of traveling in Mexico to experience more. Finally we made this trip happen!
We actually flew into Cancun, and then immediately drove down to Playa Del Carmen where we based ourselves. On our first day we decided to take a day trip to Tulum, a small town on the Riviera Maya coast, and one of the official historical port cities of the Maya.
Taquería Honorio - First things first, we started off with some breakfast tacos at a well known Mexican street food spot in Tulum. I had a mix of four different types of tacos, all of which were extraordinary, but probably the best was the lechon, the roast suckling pig. This is a must eat tacos restaurant when you’re in Tulum.
Price for my plate - 64 MXN ($3.45)
Ruins of Tulum - 70 MXN ($3.77) - One of the main attractions in Tulum are the ancient Mayan ruins. It’s a beautiful place, and what makes it so incredible are not only the ruins, but the fact that they are right up along the gorgeous turquoise Caribbean coast. It was great to walk around, even though it was packed with visitors.
Playa Paraiso - Next we drove over to Playa Paraiso, just down the beach from the Ruins of Tulum, which crystal sparkling water.
Chamico’s - By lunchtime we were all very hungry, so we drove over to a place called Chamico’s a spot I had searched out on Google maps. Just from the photos it looked like a place I needed to go, from the relaxing atmosphere to the amazing fresh seafood. It was just as good as I had imagined. The restaurant was right along the beach, breezy, and the Mexican food was amazing. We had a few plates of ceviche, fried fish, and a shrimp cocktail.
Total price (for 4) - 1,180 MXN ($63.53)
Tulum, Mexico, is a true beach paradise, and it’s an amazing place to visit in Mexico. Thank you for watching!

Puerto Morelos Mexico #1 - Best kept secret of the Mayan Riviera
On the coast, almost halfway between Playa Del Carmen and Cancun, sits the sleepy little town of Puerto Morelos. One road in, one road out - you can't miss it. But many do. The road ends at the town square - a true family orientated place. This town wasn't built for tourists but for the people. We first visited here in 99 and spent a very romantic night in a small little place right on the beach. I always go back and am happy to say the place is still there and the vibe never changes. You can still smell the patuli oil in the air and catch the yoga at 7 am.This is a very well centered town - growing at a much slower rate than Playa and Cancun- with a much more peaceful result. A beach that easily compares with anywhere else here and goes on forever. Restaurants and shops galore, dive shops, snorkel trips, the best reef around - this is a place that is hard to get out of your soul. This is not party central - this is laid back Mexico at it's best, a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle. It is also home to a major cargo port, just around the corner from the town square - it's only going to cost $175 to ship my motorcycle from Fort Lauderdale to here. ;) In the meantime I rent a car - Mexico is a great place to drive and explore. location@ Google map @ yolotraveller.com

Amazing FREE Beach Snorkeling Ojo De Agua Puerto Morelos Mayan Riviera
The Mayan Riviera is a beautiful part of Mexico that we love to spend our vacation time when possible. The last time we stayed at the Dreams Resort. The snorkeling infront of the resort was not great but a short walk down the beach to Puerto Morelos puts you right at an excellent, roped off and free swimming and snorkeling area. This is known as Ojo De Agua and can be found out front of the tower that you'll see in the video. This area is known for an underwater fresh water Cenote that pours out into the ocean in about 10 feet of water. This Cenote attracts all kind of fish to the area from beautiful Angelfish to Barracudas. There is no shortage of reef and fish to appreciate all from FREE!!! So go check it out if you are ever in the area and you will not be disappointed.

UNBELIEVABLE Cenotes near CANCUN, MEXICO | Puerto Morelos - Mexico Travel 2020 Vlog
Mexico has some pretty unbelievable cenotes. We were able to experience not one but two pretty incredible cenotes near Cancun, in the Riviera Maya area, specifically in Puerto Morelos Mexico, as part of our Mexico Travel 2020 Vlog.
We walked along the beach side of the Puerto Morelos afterwards and discovered one of the best little restaurants, Lola y Moya. The prices are very reasonable and the food is amazing. Not to mention one of the best lattes we ever had and the owner's hospitality is unforgettable.
If you’ve never been to a cenote, these cenotes in Cancun are a great place to get started! We went to both an above ground cenote as well as and underground cenote. We will say the above ground cenote has something to be said about this natural wonder. Feels a bit more rough around the edges compared to the underground cenotes.
Definitely the ones we went to weren't as crowded. Kind of how we like it.
The key is to get there EARLY. Believe some open at 8am and most at 10AM now if you get there 10 minutes early sometimes they'll let you in early. This allows you to enjoy the beauty the Cenote before the crowds show up.
Price is about $70 Dollars for both Cenotes. That's because we went with a guide. Now without the guide, which we feel you could definitely do, we believe it's around $35. We'll definitely be going this route next time.
Swimming into these cold waters is a bit startling at first, but these cenotes not to far from Playa Del Carmen and Cancun are some pretty amazing some natural pieces of art you’ve ever seen with. Get ready fo some Quintana Roo cenotes in today’s Mexico travel vlog.

Puerto Morelos Cenotes | The BEST Family day out near Cancun [2019]
Puerto Morelos Cenotes are pretty special! Last Saturday we took a family trip to Cenote Zapote, it's 30 minutes from Puerto Morelos, 55 minutes from Playa del Carmen.
We explored three cenotes and did 4 zip-lines, and ate simple, but very delicious Mexican food. The Kids reviewed the tour. It's definitely a family friendly trip and highly recommended.

Puerto Morelos
Puerto Morelos (Spanish pronunciation: ['pweɾto mo'ɾelos]) is a town and seaport in Quintana Roo, Mexico's easternmost state, on the Yucatán Peninsula. The town is located in the northeast of the state, about 36 km south of the resort city of Cancún, and about 30 km north of the city of Playa del Carmen.
Puerto Morelos merged with the village of Leona Vicario on December 6, 2015, to become the 11th municipality in Quintana Roo, separating from its former municipality of Benito Juarez.
The marine terminal at Puerto Morelos is equipped to handle containers and is the oldest, largest and most important seaport in the state of Quintana Roo.
Puerto Morelos is divided by a highway and a mangrove swamp into three sections. The section west of the highway is known as Colonia Joaquin Zetina Gazca. The section east of the highway is called Colonia Pescadores. The section on the coast east of the mangrove swamp is Puerto or Antiguo (old) Puerto Morelos. This original coastal fishing village is now a quiet, mixed-use neighborhood of private homes, hotels, condominiums, restaurants, and tourist shops.
The second part is about 2 km. inland and adjacent to Highway 307, on the western side. The inland portion is mainly single level dwellings for local workers. New residential developments have sprung up in recent years adding to the housing mix. There are now multi-story apartment buildings, and private residential developments between the highway and the mangrove where one can buy lots and build a house of one's own design.
Classified by Köppen-Geiger system as tropical wet and dry climate (Aw), because its driest month has less than 60 millimetres (2.4 in) of precipitation and also less than 100 − (total annual precipitation [mm]/25), also because each month has a mean average above 18 °C (64 °F)
It has historically been the main port between the mainland of Yucatán and the Island of Cozumel, and an automobile ferry used to run from Puerto Morelos to Cozumel. The town is named after Independence leader José María Morelos.
Resorts are abundant in the Puerto Morelos region along the Riviera Maya and attractions, such as the Crococun Crocodile Zoo, the Botanical Garden, and a host of cenotes are also increasing in number. Recently new smaller inns have been built which offers an evening programs of Talks on local history, marine biology, and healthy living practices.
One hundred meters off shore lies the Puerto Morelos portion of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, designated as a National Marine Park in 1998 due to local environmental activists.
