Our FAVORITE beach town in Mexico that you've NEVER heard of
Located in the heart of the Mayan Riviera, Puerto Morelos QUICKLY became our favorite beach town in Mexico!
►Subscribe to our channel!
Puerto Morelos is in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located halfway between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. On the shores of the Caribbean Sea, the waters and beach of Puerto Morelos are some of the prettiest we’ve seen!
This quaint little beach town is kicking off our 2019 Mexico travel vlog and we can’t wait to explore this town and surrounding area even more! The town itself is pretty small, one of the smallest beach towns we’ve been to throughout our Mexico travels. But there is a huge coral reef right off shore, quite a few great restaurants to try, and some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Yucatan Peninsula. Needless to say, I think we’ll stay plenty busy here.
If that isn’t enough, with the town’s close proximity to Cancun and Playa Del Carmen and other amazing destinations in the Riviera Maya, there’s no shortage of things to do within a reasonable driving distance.
One thing that has plagued Mexico’s Caribbean beaches over the course of the past year is the sargazo (seaweed). Typically, this is only something that these Mexico beach towns only have to deal with about 1 month a year, but lately it’s been different. In our opinion, the sargazo in Puerto Morelos hasn’t been too bad since we’ve been here. It can pile up on the beaches but the water has been pretty clear with its natural, gorgeous, hues of blue and green.
In today’s video, we ate breakfast at a local restaurant and later had some Veracruz-influenced seafood at another. We also took a short trip to Cancun to purchase some things that we’ve been needing from Costco, which was a super painless drive straight up the highway.

The Best Cenotes Near Cancun
These are some of the best Cenotes near Cancun, in the Riviera Maya area. A serious snowstorm was barreling in on Colorado and I decided to take a last minute trip to the Riviera Maya with my friend Larkin. We ate muchos frijoles, jumped in every Cenote possible, and enjoyed the simple magic of Mexico. We were only there a little over three days, but it was incredible. Viva Mexico! *Thank you Larkin for the awesome sunrise footage at the end of this video.

FUN things to do in Puerto Morelos CENOTES and BEACHES
Looking for fun things to do in Puerto Morelos? I spent 3 days there staying with Kaam condos and it was amazing! I went to the Ruta de Cenotes for some swimming and ziplining, relaxed on the beach, and ate so much good food!
Puerto Morelos Mexico is a fantastic place for a vacation as there is just so much to do!

our rent cost in a mexico beach town
How expensive is it to live by the beach? We're sharing what we pay for rent & tips to find a rental in Mexico.
►Rocket Spanish:
We're FINALLY sharing all the details of our Puerto Morelos, Mexico rent in today's travel vlog. This video includes tips on how to find a rental in Mexico, rent costs in Mexico, and the full story about how we decided on an apartment in the Riviera Maya.
If you haven't seen our previous videos, we (Jordan, Maddie, and Laska) are traveling the world, starting with Mexico. For the past year, we've visited dozens of cities across Mexico and just recently, we decided to settle down for a few months in the Riviera Maya beach town called Puerto Morelos. Previously, we thought the Mayan Riviera was too expensive to rent long-term but we were SO WRONG! Not every Mexico beach town is as expensive as Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum.
Hope we answered all the questions you might have about rent costs in Mexico, especially regarding this beach town in the Riviera Maya. If you want to know more about Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo or our experiences finding a rental in Mexico, let us know in a comment!

Riviera Maya Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
From frothy drinks on stunning beaches to guided tours of ancient ruins, the Riviera Maya has it all.
Located on the eastern edge of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, the Riviera Maya is just a half-hour away from the party town of Cancun. If you’re looking for something a little quieter in your vacation, start your Riviera Maya tour in Puerto Morelos, a quaint fishing town where you can rent a catamaran for an afternoon at sea, or say “buenos días” to a reptile at Crococun Zoo.
Playa del Carmen is a great home base for those who want to explore the rest of the Riviera Maya. Distinctly European in its architecture and layout, you’ll find plenty of charming places to stay, and enough boutique shopping and restaurants to keep you occupied for months. From Playa del Carmen, catch a ferry to Cozumel, an island just off the coast. You can wander for hours on its beaches, and its sleepy villages and friendly inhabitants may just become your home away from home.
Cozumel doesn’t stop when you reach the shoreline. It’s part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, where you can scuba or snorkel off the island’s sheltered western side. Whether you’re an advanced diver or are just beginning, the gentle waters here are the perfect place to introduce yourself to the local sea life.
Once you’re back on the mainland, do as the Mayans did and admire the view. The ruined city of Talum offers a breathtaking vista of the sea, and is considered one of Mexico’s first resorts. Why? Because this is where the royals went to watch beautiful sunrises and breathe in the fresh sea air—just like you’re getting ready to do.

Puerto Morelos Cenotes | The BEST Family day out near Cancun [2019]
Puerto Morelos Cenotes are pretty special! Last Saturday we took a family trip to Cenote Zapote, it's 30 minutes from Puerto Morelos, 55 minutes from Playa del Carmen.
We explored three cenotes and did 4 zip-lines, and ate simple, but very delicious Mexican food. The Kids reviewed the tour. It's definitely a family friendly trip and highly recommended.

Puerto Morelos Mexico #1 - Best kept secret of the Mayan Riviera
On the coast, almost halfway between Playa Del Carmen and Cancun, sits the sleepy little town of Puerto Morelos. One road in, one road out - you can't miss it. But many do. The road ends at the town square - a true family orientated place. This town wasn't built for tourists but for the people. We first visited here in 99 and spent a very romantic night in a small little place right on the beach. I always go back and am happy to say the place is still there and the vibe never changes. You can still smell the patuli oil in the air and catch the yoga at 7 am.This is a very well centered town - growing at a much slower rate than Playa and Cancun- with a much more peaceful result. A beach that easily compares with anywhere else here and goes on forever. Restaurants and shops galore, dive shops, snorkel trips, the best reef around - this is a place that is hard to get out of your soul. This is not party central - this is laid back Mexico at it's best, a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle. It is also home to a major cargo port, just around the corner from the town square - it's only going to cost $175 to ship my motorcycle from Fort Lauderdale to here. ;) In the meantime I rent a car - Mexico is a great place to drive and explore. location@ Google map @ yolotraveller.com
