Welcome to Rockingham Beach Foreshore Revitalisation-Newly developed Rockingham Foreshore Vlog 2019.
The City of Rockingham is located in the outer southern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, about 45 km south-west of the Perth CBD. The municipality covers about 260 km² and includes the suburbs of Baldivis, Cooloongup, East Rockingham, Garden Island, Golden Bay, Hillman, Karnup, Peron, Port Kennedy, Rockingham, Safety Bay, Secret Harbour, Shoalwater, Singleton, Waikiki and Warnbro. One of Australia's fastest growing areas, the region currently has about 135,000 residents.
Rockingham Beach Foreshore Revitalisation Stage One
Works on the Rockingham Beach Foreshore Revitalisation are progressing well.
The new-look Boardwalk and Railway Terrace will remain open at all times, with intermittent works taking place to complete the above-ground furniture and landscaping.
The Beach Plaza, Lookout and Beach Bowl will have staged fencing over this next month in preparation for the competion of this project.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times with nearby on-street parking available, as well as carparks at Flinders Lane, Wanliss Street, behind the Gary Holland Community Centre and Rockingham Museum.Things to look out for in September 2019

About this project
The Rockingham Beach Foreshore Revitalisation Stage One is all about bringing our fantastic natural assets of Churchill Park, Bell Park and Rockingham Beach together with the local businesses in the area to create a vibrant, dynamic and fun place for all people in the City of Rockingham.
Included in the design is a grassed amphitheatre facing the beach, a lookout point, Eat Street, and expanded Boardwalk with terracing to the beach.
Detailed design of Stage One of the Rockingham Beach Foreshore Revitalisation project includes the following areas:

The Beach Plaza (Railway Terrace between Harrison Street and the beach)
The Boardwalk (between Railway Terrace and Val Street Jetty)

The aims of Stage One of the Rockingham Beach Foreshore Revitalisation Project are to:
develop a vibrant, well connected and pedestrian friendly foreshore
encourage visitors from within and outside of Rockingham to visit the foreshore
stimulate opportunities to support the local economy and business
create a place that is sensitive to the natural features and unique foreshore environment and its many uses.

Description
Rockingham is a city and primary centre in Western Australia south-west of the Perth city centre and south of Fremantle. It has a beachside location at Mangles Bay, the southern extremity of Cockburn Sound. To its north stretches the maritime and resource-industry installations of Kwinana and Henderson. Offshore to the north-west is Australia's largest naval fleet and submarine base, Garden Island, connected to the mainland by an all-weather causeway. To the west and south lies the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park.
Rockingham is serviced by the Rockingham Train Station on the Mandurah Line. The Rockingham Shuttle Bus 555 is a frequent service which connects the train station with the Rockingham Beach foreshore. Frequent services connect Rockingham with Fremantle via the bus service 920 (via Kwinana, Spearwood) running at 15-minute intervals Monday-Friday and the 825 (via. Coogee). All three of these routes service the Primary Centre (including the Rockingham Shopping Centre via dedicated bus lanes.
National Highway 1 (Patterson Road and Ennis Avenue) connects Rockingham with Perth, Fremantle and Mandurah by road.
Perth Bicycle Network route SW38 links Rockingham Beach with Waikiki Beach in Safety Bay.[
Explore Western Australia - Lake Walyungup Salt Lake Rockingham
Lake Walyungup is an urban wetland 40 km south of Perth and was formed some 4000 years ago. Originally inhabited by the Nyungar people it provided fresh water and was a source of food year round. An important ceremonial and mythological site surrounded by the spirit of Waugal which represents the life and spirit of water created by the surrounding dunes.

This was filmed in Rockingham City Shopping Centre, while I was on holiday in Australia. I think this is really impressive, must have taken ages to build.
This machine is marked George Rhoads '89 - has been there 18 years then!

Bringing Back the Ball Machine
You may remember the Kinetic Ball Sculpture, or 'Ball Machine', that was displayed at Rockingham Shopping Centre before the redevelopment in 2007. It was moved into storage during the building works, and the iconic machine has made its long awaited return!

Grand Opening of the Museum & Archives of Rockingham County
(Wentworth, NC) - On Saturday, August 11, 2012, the Museum & Archives of Rockingham County held a ribbon cutting ceremony, opening their doors to the public for the first time.
The opening celebration included displays from the Smithsonian Institution and images from America's Photographer Carol M. Highsmith, in addition to local Rockingham County artifacts.
The Rockingham County Historical Society Museum and Archives is dedicated to preserving, promoting, disseminating, and exhibiting the history, culture, human and natural resources of Rockingham County, North Carolina, for the benefit of present and future generations.
