WLBC-TV Channel 49 was sold in 1971 to a local non-profit group, who changed the station`s callsign to the current WIPB-TV. Capturing Hoosier Hysteria
Legends are grown by the retelling of a story and there are no bigger legends in Indiana than those inspired by the game of basketball. When two IU alumni decided to forever immortalize the Milan '54 basketball team in the movie Hoosiers, it made names like Bobby Plump and Ray Craft household names across the United States. 30 years later we look at what went into capturing the Hoosier hysteria of 1954 and how the real members of the '54 team feel about Hoosiers.

CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Immigration officers probe Tony's (Al Pacino) criminal past.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Al Pacino stars as Tony Montana, an exiled Cuban criminal who goes to work for Miami drug lord Robert Loggia. Montana rises to the top of Florida's crime chain, appropriating Loggia's cokehead mistress (Michelle Pfeiffer) in the process. Howard Hawks' X Marks the Spot motif in depicting the story line's many murders is dispensed with in the 1983 Scarface; instead, we are inundated with blood by the bucketful, especially in the now-infamous buzz saw scene. One carry-over from the original Scarface is Tony Montana's incestuous yearnings for his sister Gina (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio). The screenplay for the 1983 Scarface was written by Oliver Stone.
CREDITS:

Cast: John Brandon, Al Pacino, Tony Perez, Garnett Smith
Director: Brian De Palma
Producers: Martin Bregman, Peter Saphier, Louis A. Stroller
Screenwriters: Armitage Trail, Ben Hecht, Howard Hawks, Oliver Stone

History Repeating: A Conversation with Artist Ori Gersht and Curator Al Miner
Co-presented by Artist & the Jewish Museum
Part of the event series Dialogue and Discourse
Thursday, September 6, 2012 -- 6:30pm
The Jewish Museum
1109 Fifth Avenue at 92nd Street
New York, NY 10128
On the occasion of his first major survey exhibition, Ori Gersht: History Repeating at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (August 28 - January 6), Gersht and exhibition curator Al Miner will discuss Gersht's evolving body of work and the diverse threads of history woven throughout his oeuvre. With a special introduction by Norman Kleeblatt, Chief Curator of the Jewish Museum.
In evocative and innovative films and photographs, Ori Gersht weds the past and the present. With the latest technology he takes a discerning look at multiple histories and the ways they are communicated: histories that have shaped his own identity and helped define the state of contemporary society. Gersht's images, with sources ranging from 19th century still life painting to the Holocaust, reveal the links between history and memory, creation and destruction, and beauty and violence while exploring the passage of time.
