Roskilde Festival - Biggest Music Fest in Denmark!
In this episode of Arcane Travels, we go to Roskilde Denmark to check out the biggest music festival in Northern Europe, Roskilde Festival.
Roskilde Festival is an 8-day festival attended by over 150,000 covering over 200 acres of land. Not only that, there are over 160 artists from across all across the world.
The festival is 100% non-profit, and every year all profits are donated to charitable causes. This is possible because of the 30.000 volunteers. In 2016 the festival donated 17.4 million kroner to charity. If you want to see arts, then go to the Art zone and the Graffiti zone in the festival area. Roskilde Festival Camp Life, Drinking Games and Advice
In this episode of Arcane Travels, I'm going back to Roskilde Denmark for my second year at the biggest music festival in Northern Europe, Roskilde Festival.
To refresh your memory, Roskilde Festival is an 8-day festival attended by over 150,000 people covering over 200 acres of land. Not only that, there are over 170 artists from all across the world.
We will be focusing on what the daily life in camp is like. More specifically, the sort of drinking games Danish festival goers play, what they drink and locals will give advice to new festival goers on what they should bring to the festival.
The festival is 100% non-profit, and every year all profits are donated to charitable causes. This is possible because of the 30.000 volunteers. Til januar åbner en ikke helt almindelig højskole. Roskilde Festival Højskole tilsætter festivalstemning til den danske højskoletradition og bygger på de samme idealer som Nordens største festival: frivillighed, bæredygtighed og skabertrang.
Roskilde Festival Højskole er den første nybyggede almene højskole i Danmark siden 1969. Den 6. januar flytter det første hold elever ind i spritnye omgivelser, få hundrede meter fra Dyrskuepladsen, hvor Roskildes Festival hver sommer finder sted. Søndagsmagasinet følger forstanderen og de nye undervisere i månederne op til skolestart.

Pearl Jam - Roskilde Festival 2000
The Roskilde concert in 2000 was the first time I saw Pearl Jam live. Unfortunately it is also the concert that I remember the most clearly compared to others. Once in a while I still think of one specific young unconscious attendee I saw being dragged over the security fence. A poor soul who was attending a show with what may have been his favorite band. RIP

From setlist.fm: Note: Pearl Jam's 2000 European tour ended in tragedy on June 30, with an accident at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. Nine fans were crushed underfoot and suffocated to death as the crowd rushed to the front. The band stopped playing and tried to calm the crowd when the musicians realized what was happening, but it was already too late. The two remaining dates of the tour were canceled, and the band seriously considered retiring after this event. Pearl Jam was initially blamed for the accident, but was later cleared of responsibility.
