Rottnest Island Campground Western Australia
Rottnest island campground Western Australia. If you love camping and travelling and want to see campgrounds and their individual campsites in Australia, check out my videos.
These videos and website started off in the early nineties as markers and scribblings on a giant map of Australia on my games room wall of all the best places in Australia to go and camp, fish and four wheel drive. After many years of practical research as well as reading four wheel drive magazines and watching every camping, fishing and four wheel driving TV show (it’s been a harrowing and arduous task); I recently realised that come the time my wife and I can leave the kids behind and head off on a trip longer than a school holiday break; I’m either going to need a bloody big plastic sleeve to put the map in, or I’m going to have to drag myself kicking and screaming into the 21st century………
Though I haven’t been to every campground in Australia to video each one yet, I have done many in Western Australia and will continue until such time as I can do it full time and spend the rest of my life travelling the rest of Australia camping and videoing every campsite! It might take a while so bear with me…...

Discover the best attractions and activities Rottnest Island has to offer.
Just 19 km off the coast of Perth City, but an entire world away, lies the sunny holiday island of Rottnest, blessed with a casual atmosphere, picturesque scenery, dazzling marine life and some of the world's finest beaches and pristine bays.
Rottnest Island earned its curious name when in 1696, Dutch explorer, Willem de Vlamingh, mistook the island's unusual marsupial population for common rats and named it Rottnest - literally translating to 'rats’ nest'. Today, having a photo taken alongside the 'rats', known as Quokkas, is one of the main attractions for visitors to the island.

ROTTNEST ISLAND PERTH WESTERN AUSTRALIA
QUOKKAS Rottnest has a checkered past, being a former Aboriginal penal settlement and a prisoner-of-war camp, but it is a truly beautiful, fascinating island, 11km by 5km, and a great day trip by boat from Perth, West Australia. My good friend Don and I spent a great day on Rottnest Island, 20 km off the Perth coastline. We had a great ferry ride over, $40.00 return, 25 minutes and all was looking well, at least that is what I thought. You see, we decided that I should rent a bike, $20.00 a day, to explore the island's well paved, traffic free roads. Don took his Sunrise Medical Quickie P222, a toxic green coloured wheelchair capable of 11 kph, with a range of 45 km.. I did get a 10 speed bike and as the trip (race) started out easy, amidst hordes of eager cyclists, so did the ride. That is until I hit my first hill and Don powered up at 11 kmh shouting Big Beaver Bill, get a move on. But my butt was really getting sore, really soon and was just about mush by the time we had finished, after a four hour circuit of 40 kms. I guess there is a moral to this day besides no pain, no gain. Don could have slowed down. I was walking like a bowlegged cowboy. Perhaps it is as simple as this. If you are going to spend the day, riding 30 kms flat out on a bike, get some trial runs in first or you will be doing a lot of standing in the weeks to come.

5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Perth, Western Australia | Australia Day Tours Guide
5 Top-Rated Day Trips from Perth, Australia
On the banks of the sparkling Swan River in Western Australia, Perth, is one of the world's most isolated capital cities, but it wows travelers with a dazzling array of natural wonders on its doorstep. Hauntingly beautiful deserts, gleaming beaches, wildlife-rich islands, and the agricultural bounty of the Swan Valley and Margaret River reward those who venture out of the city on day trips. Distances between attractions can be vast, but the scenery is worth it. Striking rock formations rise from golden-sand deserts, and wildflowers erupt from the scorched earth in a breathtaking blaze of color from September through November. Closer to the city, sun lovers can bask on bone-white beaches with beautiful turquoise bays, while Perth's port city, Fremantle, provides a pleasing counterpoint to all the natural attractions with its rich convict and maritime history, art exhibitions, and heritage trails. Wildlife is also a highlight, both in the sea and on land. Not far from the city, you can swim with wild dolphins, spot humpback whales on their annual migration, kayak with sea lions, and commune with quokkas on ravishing Rottnest Island. Let's see five day trips from Perth, Western Australia.
1. Rottnest Island
2. Fremantle
3. Caversham Wildlife Park
4. Yanchep National Park
5. The Swan Valley
